Disney Restaurant Photo Packages Now Part Of PhotoPass+. Is It Worth It?

We can’t wait to share some of the great new dining info that you’ll find in our updated e-Book — The DFB Guide to Walt Disney World® Dining 2012! In honor of the grand launch, let’s dig in!

New PhotoPass+ Option

For starters, we’ll take a look at the recently released PhotoPass+ option! It’s a new way to get all of your PhotoPass, Disney Attraction, and Dining photos in one handy package. But is it worth it just because it gives you access to your dining photos?

A Photo Package at Cinderella's Royal Table. Add Your Family Here.

Of course we analyzed this for you! The $199.95 package can be a good option for guests that hail down lots of PhotoPass photographers or tend to really want to show folks back home what they looked like on Test Track, however it’s not a great value if you’re only considering it so you don’t have to shell out extra dough for your Chef Mickey’s pic (about $32)!

If you won’t be using your PhotoPass option at locations other than restaurants, you’d have to book at least six Advance Dining Reservations for very popular restaurants — plus find the time in your itinerary to visit them — in order to get the most value!

If you are a fan of the Attraction photos, these photos are an out-of-pocket expense of $16.95 each for a 5×7 print. Consider PhotoPass+ only if you will fully utilize the package benefits!

PhotoPass+ Meals

I know you’re thinking about the expense of those dining photos. So let’s take a look at where they are available:

PhotoPass+ Meals include 1900 Park Fare, ‘Ohana (Breakfast only), Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, Chef Mickey’s, Cinderella’s Royal Table, Tusker House Restaurant (Breakfast only), Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.

Note that some of these meals already include the photo package with the cost of the meal, so you wouldn’t necessarily be saving on those packages.

Find more info on PhotoPass+ and many other budget planning tips for eating in Walt Disney World in The DFB Guide to Walt Disney World® Dining 2012! We also have chapters dedicated to how to find Disney World dining discounts, and how to make the most of your character meals! Don’t forget to use code 2012 to get a $4 discount on the price for one week only!

Why aren’t all the character meals included?? Do they all offer a photo package? Just seems to me if you’re paying a higher price to have those included…..it should include all of them. I still think my family could get great use out of this photopass package….just wondering why it doesn’t included everything.

Laurie — Not all character meals include a photo package. :-)

Actually, you can get your restaurant photos added to your PhotoPass account already, without the new option (or at least you could). Simply take the photo out of the holder and type in the code number on the bottom corner – it’s the same as any other PhotoPass number. Then you get all the photos taken – not just the ones printed, and it didn’t cost extra.

I used to do this all the time. It’s possible, I guess, that Disney has removed this functionality in order to make a little more money.

When I ate at Chef Mickey’s and Tusker House last year, I had the Photo Pass Photographers take a picture of me with my camera so I didn’t have to buy the photos from them.

We are going on our honeymoon and trying to understand our best options to capture everything possible :)

So what else besides taking and storing of the photos does the package include? Is there an official press release anywhere?

    How do you order it?

  7. James (aka Disneynorth) says:

When we ate at Akershus! The photos were included with the meal. Is that now gone?

  8. AJ says:

James — Nope, they should still be included.

  9. Melissa says:

I’m confused. Do you need to buy the pictures at the character meals AND rides? Then YOU have to make sure you get them put on your PhotoPass+? I thought the whole idea of the PhotoPass+ was to make it all inclusive?
