NEWS! 2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Booth/Kiosk Menus Announced!

We’re happy to share the great news that the 2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Booth Menus and the 2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Booth Map are now available!

As always, we have individual pages created for every single booth, including the menu and food photos of repeat items and even some brand new dishes! Those will be available later today.

Some new additions to this year’s booths are:

Key West Southernmost Wheat

  • FOUR brand new desserts at the Desserts & Champagne Booth include Yogurt Panna Cotta with Orange Cake, Raspberries and Pomegranate; Dark Chocolate Mousse with Chili and Salted Caramel; Lemon Custard Verrine with Blueberry Compote; and chocolate or strawberry Nesquick Froth.
  • The new Terra Vegan Marketplace introduces Trik’n Chick’n Curry with Basmati Rice; Chili Colorado with House made Chips and Cashew Cheese, featuring Gardein Beefless Tips; Wines from organic and sustainable Paul Dolan Winery; and a Berry Smoothie (dairy-free, lactose-free).
  • The new Florida Marketplace will showcase Florida Shrimp Ceviche with Fire Roasted Vegetables, Fried Plantains and Cilantro; and White Corn Arepa with Mangalista Pork Rilette and Zellwood Sweet Corn Salad. New beverages this year will include Key Limen Wine (Florida Orange Groves Winery); Florida Lager (Florida Beer Company); Key West Southernmost Wheat (Florida Beer Company).
  • The New Zealand booth is back featuring a lamb meatball.
  • The Canada booth will introduce filet mignon with truffle butter sauce, already famous in Canada’s Le Cellier Restaurant!
  • And there are plenty more where those came from!

    Oh dear. Other than the couple of items with tuna (which I haven’t eaten since having an allergic reaction of some sort about 15 years ago), I don’t see a single thing that I don’t want to eat. I’m going to be fat and poor when I leave Disney!

    This is so exciting! My first F&W visit, and I can plan out my eating plan! One question…will they have listed what is gluten free? I would hate to have to ask every single booth! Perhaps there’s someone I could contact ahead of time? Any help would be appreciated!

    But – what countries are missing? No Indian/Pakistani food, no Turkish, no Thai. All renowned for their street food.

    Not a complaint but what other cuisines would you like to see?

    Neil – SA seems to have acknowledged its Indian population a little. But I’d definitely appreciate a few more of those kind of dishes! It’s a great way to show people that spicy doesn’t have to mean scary.

    Amanda, I’ve been asking around about gluten-free foods as well. It’s my understanding that we’ll have to ask at all of the booths as to what is safe. I do know that South Korea’s yummy lettuce wrap is GF.

    Aimee and Amanda – I have a gluten sensitivity (not an allergy, per say – I can eat trace amounts of gluten without getting violently ill) and in past years, I have just asked at the booths. The first couple of times were embarassing, but after that, it wasn’t a big deal. I was able to eat most of the foods I wanted to, and it was worth double-checking at each booth so I wouldn’t feel terrible the rest of the day. There was a post on this blog a year or so ago where a person gave a list of the foods Disney assured them was gluten-free – one item included in the list was a chocolate cake! It was obviously NOT gluten free. So I’ve just gotten in the habit of double-checking at each booth.

    I actually heard that Ireland’s Lava cake was flourless, but you just never know about those! I’ll be sure to ask at each booth. Disney is so great about allergies that I guess I’ve started to take for granted me doing any work!

    @Dana – I know a number of restaurants offer a flourless chocolate cake, which is more of an egg-based soufflé. I wonder if that was it.

    I went there thinking it would be flourless, but I learned the hard way that it wasn’t. I was crazy sick for two days after eating it. And like I said, I can tolerate small amounts of gluten, so it must have been regular cake for me to get so sick from it.

    So, while it won’t hurt to contact Disney ahead of time, I would still double-check at each booth, anyway. I did that last year, and didn’t have any issues. It was nice being able to walk around the entire trip without getting sick once!

    And yes, Disney normally is very, very good about allergies. I’ve never had an issue at any restaurant on property when I let them know I can’t do gluten.

    On one hand, I’m thrilled that my faves at booths like Hawaii, Canada, and Ireland will be back again. OTOH, I was hoping for a few more new, somewhat exotic items. The Florida items sound good, but the “trickn chickn” and “Nesquick froth” don’t do anything for me.

    Anyway, F&W is becoming a family tradition for us, so I’m sure it will be fun. For Christmas last year, DD9 painted me a picture of her all-time favorite memory from her many trips to WDW. It wasn’t meeting a princess or plunging down Splash for the umpteenth time. It was she and I sitting together on one of the benches in American Adventure, sharing a plate from the Singapore booth!

    Even with our allergies, we found quite a few great options last year (thanks to your website and team who did the leg work on the gluten question for us, by the way!)

    It was a lot of fun, for the grown ups, to sample around the world. I am not sure the kids were too excited about it, but we found enough to delight them en transit, so it worked out beautifully. Would love to try it again this year!

    Although I’m thrilled there will be a vegan booth, it seems like somewhat of a panacea so that more booths won’t have to offer vegetarian options. Like the reply from Disney will be, “Oh, but we have a vegan booth! So you can go there…. etc, etc” Not really a complaint, just an observation that that might have been the reasoning behind it.

    My husband and I specifically booked our honeymoon during Food n’ Wine and I am very happy to be going, just wish there were more vegetarian options. I’m most excited about the Vegan booth, Greek booth, the cheese, the desserts and the wine.

  22. Very excited for the new Terra/Gardein vegan booth too!

    I do agree though that ALL of the other booths really seem to be lacking in meatless options – especially since India is gone =(

    Looks like the Greek booth has a few, and then there are the various cheese offerings. I think the bread/mushroom/ketchup roll in Poland appears meatless, and the South African Paneer/Spinach item seems meatless too.

    It just seems like a lot of things could be meatless without people noticing much – things like adding meat sauce on top of the cheese pasta in Italy always seems so unnecessary, putting a few slivers in ham here in there in various otherwise-vegetarian items, chicken in the French gratin, slipping a bit of pork into the salad on top of the corn Arepas in Florida, and so on. Without just a few items (or maybe just having them as options without the extra bacon on top, etc.) there would theoretically be a ton of other choices for those who don’t eat meat (and especially for those who don’t eat pork for religious reasons too, why keep putting hidden bacon in everything?) =/

    I’d love to see a Disney Food Blog review on all the non-alcoholic beverage offerings at the F&W Fest this year. I’m not sure its been done before. For the non-drinkers, kids, and preggos attending, this would add to the anticipation & excitement!
