Review: Iced Coffee Float at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies

It’s a hot afternoon in the Magic Kingdom. Ice cream is calling your name, but you’re also in need of a little caffeine jolt. Well, I’ve got just the treat for you… today we’re checking out the Iced Coffee Float at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies!

Not familiar with Auntie? It’s OK — lots of people just walk right by on their way from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland.

You can find this spot in Tomorrowland across from the Tomorrowland Speedway. The menu features – as the outdoor sign indicates – smoothies and ice cream. You can read our review of both a smoothie AND an ice cream sundae here!

It’s also an easy place to grab a piece fruit or a muffin before your race to Space Mountain in the morning.

The Iced Coffee Float has been on my “To Try” list for a while, but I must confess to rarely stopping at Auntie’s, typically in favor of visiting Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Rays’s or grabbing a Gourmet Cake Cup at Cheshire Café. But one day I was particularly in need of a caffeine boost, so I strolled in to Galactic Goodies to place my order.

You’ve got two choices to make upon ordering your Iced Coffee Float. First, the Iced Coffee: French Vanilla, Mocha, or Latte (the Latte, while still being “lightly sweetened,” is the least sweet of the bunch). Second, the ice cream: Vanilla, Chocolate, or Twist soft serve.

This treat is just a happy little surprise. The mocha iced coffee that was poured in the bottom of the cup is the kind that you might typically find in a convenience store in the serve-yourself machines.

I love a truly good cup of coffee as much as the next person, but I’ll admit… I’m nearly just as happy with the “cappuccino machines.” I love the stuff, so this was great by me. The mocha was very sweet, cool, and creamy.

The soft serve was generously portioned, too. The thing I noticed about the float is that you really need to tackle the ice cream first and the coffee second (or vice versa if you use a straw). What I mean is, a traditional soda float has all those bubbles breaking up the ice cream and forcing a blend. Here, the coffee and ice cream sit mostly separate, except for the lovely melt at the bottom of the ice cream, making the sweet, cool, and creamy mocha even sweeter, cooler, and creamier once it’s time to sip. Aaaahhhh!!!

The yummy "meltdown"

You could carry it around, but I recommend sitting for a while and savoring this caffeinated concoction. It’s fun to enjoy while people-watching… especially on the People Mover!

You can also find Iced Coffee Floats at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square and Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland. But if you’ve never paid a visit to Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies, I suggest giving it a try on your next trip through Tomorrowland!

While I sit here listening to an old dfb podcast, I am so excited to see the Iced Coffee covered here on the blog! While I know this review is specific to the Iced Coffee Float, I have to say the stand-alone Iced Coffees were quite the lifesaver on our last trip. My husband & I had “missed” these on prior trips and to two caffeine addicts (yes, we’re from up north where there’s a coffee shop on every. single. corner.), we were so excited to discover them last year. I believe I stumbled across them at Sunshine Tree Terrace while hubby and the older two were on the magic carpets and I was pushing the youngest around for a “stroller nap.” We’re all aware of the not-so-stellar coffee options (let’s table the Starbucks debate here) at wdw, so I had turned to downing a quick diet coke in the room each morning before braving a couple cups at our breakfast restaurant of the day.
Anyway, at Sunshine Tree Terrace, I noticed the flavors and after an internal struggle of what to order, and how to order (hubby: extra sugar, extra cream; me: skim milk & splenda), ordered the french vanilla for him and the mocha for me. I grabbed handfuls of sugar packets, creamers, splenda, & I had milk for the girls already. After we both took the hesitant first sip to determine how we’d need to “doctor” the coffees, we were pleasantly surprised to find neither of us had to add anything at all! After that first Iced Coffee, we probably purchased 2-3 each day for the remainder of the trip. We were able to find them for sure at MK & Epcot and HS if I remember correctly.
We’ve actually “daydreamed” about them since we returned home, even with our good coffee right here. ; )

    AGREED!!!
Strolled by here last time in the World while we were trying to get rid of some snack options!!!
    What a find!

Jocelyn — Yes, they really are quite a lifesaver! I usually have a cup of hot coffee first thing in the morning (before my eyes are open, really ;) ), but the Iced Coffees around Disney are a REALLY nice pick-me-up, and totally perfect when it starts getting waaay too hot in FL for much else!

Mike — It’s funny, it took me forever to get around to trying this float… and now it’s all I can do to stop myself from getting one on each Magic Kingdom visit :). That’s a brilliant use for a snack credit!

Another item for my bucket list for May! Looks wonderful. On a side note, I have to say that as a New Englander, it took me a few trips to WDW to finally “get” the name, “Auntie Gravity’s”. We have a slightly different pronunciation of the first word. :)

Ohhhhhhh that looks GOOD!! It’s now on my ‘must have’ list for my next trip :)

We paid a visit to Auntie Gravity on our last trip, as we were thirsty. Hubby just had a coke, but once I saw the menu I just HAD to have a coke float. And it was just the BEST thing to have on a hot afternoon, it hit the spot so perfectly I think I craved one every day after that!

Awww, I love these things. Some of my fondest MK memories are sitting at Sleepy Hollow (where they’re also available) during late night extra magic hours, watching the castle change colour whilst enjoying a French vanilla and vanilla ice cream iced coffee float. De-lish!

We often pop into Auntie’s too, even if it’s a busy day in the park you rarely have to wait too long to get your goodies and the staff are super nice. <3

Vaila — Hope you enjoy on your next trip!

Rune — That sounds like a perfect late night tradition :).

This is something I need to try next time I’m in Tomorrowland!
