News! New Menu at “Allergy” Kiosk in Disney’s Animal Kingdom (And You Can Still Get Babycakes!)

With the recent closure of Babycakes NYC in Downtown Disney Orlando, readers have been all aflutter with one question: Where will I get my gluten-free treats now??

And it’s a serious question. For visitors to Walt Disney World who follow a special diet, many were super thrilled to have access to the specialty bakery’s treats. The gluten-free, vegan baked goods meant that guests with food allergies and intolerances could have their cake and eat it, too. And guests who choose to follow a special diet for other reasons could indulge guiltlessly.

Well, we recently stopped by the Gardens Kiosk in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and we’re happy to confirm that Babycakes NYC will continue to supply the stand as well as several Disney resorts with baked goodies that meet these criteria!

The Gardens Kiosk is located centrally on Discovery Island near Flame Tree Barbecue and the entrance to It’s Tough to Be a Bug. It serves to educate guests about the top eight most common food allergens, and cast members are stationed at the kiosk with resources to assist guests who need help with food choices.

But the spot also serves as a handy place to get grab and go snacks items that are free from the most common food allergens.

We noticed a few changes to the menu when we stopped by the other day. Most notably, you can now get Tofutti Ice Cream here! The dairy-free frozen treats will be a welcome addition for guests who are lactose intolerant or who suffer from milk allergies.

But we also spied an expansion of the Beer options as well. Redbridge Gluten-Free Beer and Angry Orchard Cider join Omission Lager as offerings you can enjoy here.

So rest assured, Babycakes NYC fans — the popular bakery will continue to have a presence in Walt Disney World here at the Allergy Kiosk and at several Disney World resorts, and you’ll still be able to get your gluten-free cookies and cupcakes when you visit Animal Kingdom!

And who knows, maybe they’ll open a new location, too!

Will you be visiting the Gardens Kiosk the next time you’re in Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom? Sound off in comments if this is an important stop for you!

  1. Kristina says:

Aww man…how can you have Tofutti ice cream but not the amazing almond flavor???

  2. Dana says:

I’m so glad BabyCakes will still sell at the kiosk! The mint brownie cupcake is amazing.

Just one complaint about the kiosk, though. It closes so early! Twice we went there in the afternoon to get a treat, and it had closed just after lunchtime. On the third day, we went there before lunch to get our cupcakes, but then had to carry them around until after lunch.

  3. Ashley says:

I’ve had the hummus and veg both here and from Mr. Kamal’s (on the pathway between Africa and Asia), and while you do pay a bit more for the latter version, it’s fresh, house-made, and a larger portion, WITH pita bread a veggies. Just a head’s up. Not sure if it’s allergy friendly, though.

  4. Anna says:

All great news! Thanks for sharing this. Will definitely check out the Gardens Kiosk on our next visit.

  5. Aussie Hayley says:

That is great news. Was worried about not being apply to get my baby cakes fix but after reading this I am one happy camper.

  6. Jackie says:

@ Kristina it’s FREE of the top 8 ALLERGENS, like , maybe NUTS!

  7. Justine Rios says:

This fall will be my first trip to Disney since being diagnosed with Celiac. I’m really excited to check this kiosk out. I’m really hopeful that I can actually have a stress free eating situation while there!

  8. Sam says:

@ Jackie. Tofutti…tofu…soy (one of the top 8 allergens). Their entire line is soy based and the company doesn’t claim to be allergen-free. Great for the lactose intolerant and vegan crowd though.

    Babycakes products aren’t nut-free either.

It seems like the have at least a few options for each of the top-8, as well as other special diets.

  9. Betsy says:

Does anyone know if the cookies and cupcakes are dairy and egg free as well? Or are they just gluten free?
I am allergic to dairy, beef, and eggs. I love going to Disney because they are so accommodating to special diets! Sad to see babyCakes store close but glad that they will still be serving the Disney property.

  10. Cassandra Boyd says:

We’ve had a cake from baby cakes on our trip in March. My son is dairy, egg and peanut. It was an amazing cake and all of the enjoy life cookies are dairy, egg and peanut free as well.

  11. Linda P says:

    Great…..but what about soy?
Got all happy for a min. And then that feeling went away.

  12. Sharon says:

Babycakes baked goods are free of soy, dairy, eggs, and wheat.

  13. Lynda says:

My daughter has been totally gluten-free for over 2 years now due to allergies and was so excited about NYC Baby Cakes! She visited them both times that we were vacationing in WDW and was thrilled! When I told her about Disney closing them, it almost brought her to tears. It’s great that their goods are available in Animal Kingdom and I do hope if they do make them available in some of the resorts, I hope Old Key West DVC (our home resort) is one of them.

  14. Roseann says:

WOW…that’s great news! Now they need to expand throughout WDW :)

  15. Angie says:

We will be visiting WDW for the first time in June and I am thrilled that we can get Vegan choices so easily. My son has milk and egg allergies and he is so excited that he can actually eat “normal” food without any questions beforehand. This kiosk sounds great. It will be our first stop in AK.

  16. Gwen says:

AJ, curious…if babycakes is still supplying to that kiosk, where are they making the products? Do they have another location at Disney? In Orlando? I was truly disappointed to hear about the dtd closure. I would love to hear that they plan to open another Disney location! Do you have any insight on what is happening? Thank you!

  17. AJ says:

Gwen — We don’t have any information on that at this time. We’ll keep our ears open for a new location opening.

  18. Brian Smith says:

I noticed they are selling omission beer here. A warning it is made from WHEAT and by most definitions is not gluten free. It has been crafted to remove gluten but still can trigger an allergic reaction in some.. including myself! I am a bit disappointed to see them selling this here.

  19. Shelly R says:

I’m so disappointed that Disney used Tofutti products instead of SO Delicious. Tofutti has a long history of milk-contamination and has been forced to issue recalls (Tofutti never does it willingly). It is a very risky brand for those with milk allergy, not to mention soy allergy.
