Snack Series: Mickey Gingerbread Cookie

If you’re like me, you typically reserve gingerbread treats for the end of the year. I simply can’t disassociate the fragrance and taste of gingerbread from all-things-Holidays.

I look forward each November to the Gingerbread Cupcake at Hollywood Studios in the same way I look forward to making gingerbread treats in my own home throughout December. (Okay, so they’re the pre-made/pre-cut cookies that you just have to warm up in the oven… that counts, right?)

BUT, if you want access to delicious gingerbread all year round…you’ve got it — in the form of the Mickey Gingerbread Cookie!

You’ll often find this little guy in bakery cases across Disney World. But I’ve had the best luck at Sweet Spells and Writer’s Stop in Hollywood Studios, Goofy’s Candy Co. in Downtown Disney, and Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Confectionery, which is where I grabbed mine.

The composition is simple: a gingerbread cookie with the signature ears dipped in milk chocolate, with two white chocolate candy buttons to spiffy up the ol’ outfit. To be honest, he looks more like a “Mickey Fan Gingerbread” wearing an ear hat as opposed to a “Mickey Gingerbread” to me, but we’ll let that slide, since he looks cute as a traditional Gingerbread Man either way!

Maybe it’s because I got it first thing in the morning (it has “bread” in the name, which makes it a fine candidate for a breakfast food, agreed? ;) ), but my Gingerbread Mickey was surprisingly and wonderfully soft.

I’ve had some not-so-soft gingerbread at Disney World at times around the Holidays, but that was absolutely not the case here.

And the thick bits of chocolate break things up just enough to lend some variety to the flavors. Gingerbread and chocolate are just a heavenly combination.

The blend of spices in the cookie was terrific — Seriously, brush up on your festive tunes because this treat makes it feel like the holiday season any time of year.

Would you believe, by the way, that I’ve never had one of these during the actual holiday season? Maybe I’ll have to fix that this year. In the meantime, it’s good to know we can enjoy these flavors anytime.

This is my #1 favorite cookie! I usually have a few during my week at WDW. I don’t think they used to have them year round, right? I even bring a few home with me!

  2. Stacie says

Does anyone know where I can get one of those cookie cutters? I have the classic Mickey cookie cutter but cannot find this one!

  3. Kelly M says

Sometimes I absolutely crave gingerbread…. and reading this has made that happen! Mine won’t taste anywhere near as good though as it won’t be Mickey shaped.

I’ve always loved this cookie. I tried one of the special ones during the holidays that they have at the American pavilion in Epcot and it was just not good. So if you want gingerbread stick with this one. Also, I’ll put in my two cents about the gingerbread cupcake at HS – it wasn’t gingerbread. It was more like a spice cake and honestly not very sweet, more like a spice muffin. Disappointing when I was expecting actual gingerbread.

Why or why must you tortue me? My mouth is watering at the thought of this “cookie perfection”!

This is bar none my favorite cookie at WDW. One of my family’s favorite traditions is pick them up (Hard to find at Epcot so we bring them in with us) with some hot chocolate or apple cider and enjoy them during the Candlelite Processional. The best!!! We’re going to Hawaii this year. Does anyone know if Disney sells them at the Aulani Resort?

So this year I went on my annual December Disneyland trip and they didn’t have this cookie anywhere! Not at Downtown Disney or inside the parks. There was a whole different gingerbread man that was being sold everywhere that wasn’t dipped in chocolate (and different recipe). It wasn’t bad, but I wanted this one! This is my favorite. Marceline’s Confectionary told me they only got a few of them in, but they don’t think they’re getting anymore. Does anyone know whats going on??? :(
