Refreshment Cool Post
is a stop along the way around World Showcase. You’ll find it after you cross the bridge from the China Pavilion towards Germany. The Cool Post typically offers a menu of pretty standard quick-eats: hot dogs, frozen slushes, and fruit cups are among the choices.
However, this unassuming spot has been chosen as the only place to offer a special summer treat unique to Epcot: Frozen Yogurt soft-serve, available in Pineapple, Coconut, or a swirl of the two!
It’s next to impossible, of course, for most Disney food fans to hear the words “pineapple” and “soft-serve” in the same sentence without thinking of the original pineapple soft-serve treat: Dole Whip!
So, we thought we’d present this review by bringing you a little side-by-side comparison of the two.
We’ll start with the most obvious characteristic: color. While the Dole Whip is a light yellow, it’s still a definite yellow, where the Pineapple Frozen Yogurt’s yellow is so pale, it’s almost white. My yogurt was a pineapple-coconut swirl, and you can just barely make out the yellow of the pineapple yogurt against the white of the coconut.
Next: texture. Okay, so that’s pretty obvious, too ;). The frozen yogurt is entirely creamy as opposed to the more sorbet-esque texture of a Dole Whip.
Now, for our favorite characteristic: TASTE! I’ve gotta say, I was really surprised at how well the pineapple yogurt captured a very true pineapple flavor – ultimately, this is what it holds most in common with the Dole Whip.
Comparison aside, the pineapple and/or coconut frozen yogurt stands on its own as a super-refreshing treat. My fellow coconut fiends won’t be able to resist the coconut by itself, or swirling it with the pineapple. The combination of the two is wonderfully tropical, and just the thing for a hot summer day in Florida.
The frozen yogurt is $3.99, and available as a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan. Oh, and there’s one more new thing on the Cool Post menu, too… a little something listed on the bottom called the Mango Starr Smoothie featuring African Starr Rum.
If you’ve passed by Refreshment Cool Post several times while strolling around World Showcase, now might be the time to finally make a stop!

Pineapple frozen yogurt looks like the perfect treat for the first day of our trip next month, when we will be eating around the world. Now for the big question…since they serve pineapple frozen yogurt, and they also serve rum…could someone get a cup of pineapple frozen yogurt topped with rum? We won’t be going to Animal Kingdom so we will miss out on the Dole Whips with rum…but the pineapple and rum is such an awesome combination, I’m wondering if they would do this at Epcot with the frozen yogurt. Or better than just the pineapple, with the swirl!

A swirl of coconut and a swirl of pineapple? All it needs is a splash of rum and you’ve got a pina colada soft serve. What a concept.

There is a frozen yogurt shop in our town that we go to often, because they have coconut and pineapple frozen yogurt. This will be great to have on our upcoming trip.

Is this really only for the Summer? Won’t be back again until November 🙁 Hopefully they’ll still have it then.

Stevie – Thanks so much for reading! Have a great trip, and enjoy your coconut frozen yogurt :)!
Frank and Bonnie E – for now, that is the case. So far they are calling these “summer treats,” so I think the current plan is to offer the frozen yogurt through Labor Day. We’ll be checking it out again once summer ends to see if the regular soft-serve comes back, or if they decide to keep the frozen yogurt. Or – ideally – both ;)!
Bonnie & Alan – I’m not sure, but I’d say it doesn’t hurt to ask ;)! Cheers!
Hannah – yum! I’ve had coconut before, but haven’t seen pineapple. I understand why you would keep returning – it’s delicious!

I am a coconut fiend as well, this sounds absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, my next trip is December, so I wish this was a year-long item 🙁
