Steamboat Willie was released on November 18, 1928 introducing the world to Mickey Mouse 90 years ago! All the Parks and many resorts are celebrating Mickey’s Big 90th Birthday this weekend with special eats. We headed to Boardwalk Bakery to try their special Steamboat Willie Heritage Mickey dessert to honor Mickey’s debut!
This dessert is black and white — just like the short film Steamboat Willie — and so darned cute!
You’ve got a white chocolate custard tart as a base, and it is topped off with a perfectly rounded serving of dark chocolate mousse making the dome shape. Then it’s garnished with chocolate ears, a tail, and of course Mickey’s recognizable buttons!
Really, how darn cute is this? We couldn’t stop taking pictures of this dessert!
Here’s a better idea of the tail.
We did eventually dive into this dessert, and YUM. This is a really good dessert made with classic flavors, that could have been ordinary, but it wasn’t ordinary at all. The White Chocolate Custard was the best part of the dessert for us.
It’s unrelentingly sweet, obviously. But that’s the worst I can say about it. If you like chocolate mousse and custard tarts you’ll love this one.
This is just the beginning of the many ways you can celebrate Mickey’s 90th this weekend. Check our post from our eats around the Magic Kingdom this morning (there’s a Mickey-shaped krispie treat that’s as big as Cinderella Castle!), as well as the limited edition (and selling out fast) merchandise!
