We’re STILL recovering from the onslaught of information that came out of D23 Expo 2019.
There are so many attractions and restaurants to anticipate, you may have a difficult time remembering all opening dates for these experiences. Well, you’re in luck because we’ve compiled a FULL list of every Disney attraction and restaurant with an opening date or season.
Since many attractions are opening around Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021, we’ll kick off our list with everything coming to the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks
This Christmas season, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks will debut in Magic Kingdom as part of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The show will take place during Christmas parties on select nights from November 8th through December 22nd.
The show will be narrated by the Hostess with the Mostess, Minnie Mouse! Beloved holiday songs featured in the show will include Joy to the World, Deck the Halls, Up on the House Top, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
TRON Lightcycle Run
Another attraction coming to Magic Kingdom is the highly-anticipated TRON Lightcycle Run. This ride, which is based on Shanghai Disneyland’s TRON Lightcycle Power Run, is slated to open in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021.
As you likely know, there are SO MANY changes coming to Epcot!
The final showing of Illuminations — Reflections of Earth will take place on September 30th of this year, and Epcot Forever will (temporarily) take its place on October 1st.
Epcot Forever will revolve around a soundtrack of beloved songs from Epcot’s past and present and will feature kite technology never before seen in Disney World!
This restaurant is slated to open by the end of this year and will feature internationally-inspired cuisine along with more than 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines and a wide selection of craft beer.
Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue
Also slated to open in Epcot in 2019 is Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue, which will replace the American Adventure Pavilion’s Liberty Inn.
Disney has shared that the modern barbecue smokehouse will have “all the accompanying sights, sounds, smells and flavors you love – including a large smoker preparing fine food every day right on the pavilion’s promenade.”
HarmonioUS Nighttime Spectacular
As we mentioned above, Epcot Forever will replace IllumiNations — Reflections of Earth on October 1st of 2019, but in 2020, Epcot’s permanent nighttime spectacular will arrive!
The new show will be called HarmonioUS, and, according to Disney, the show will be the largest nighttime spectacular ever created for a Disney Park. It sounds like a combo of Rivers of Light and the current IllumiNations show — massive floating set pieces, dancing fountains, fireworks, lasers, and more.
Awesome Planet Film
“Awesome Planet”, The Land Pavilion’s new film, will debut in January of 2020. The Land Pavilion (and this film) will eventually be part of Epcot’s World Nature neighborhood, which you can learn more about here!
Awesome Planet will be “an on-screen exploration of the realm we call home,” and “showcases the spectacular beauty, diversity and dynamic story of our earth with all the grandeur guests have come to expect.”
Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along
Also set to debut in January, 2020, is the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, which will be found in Epcot’s France Pavilion. The new show is created by Don Hahn, producer of the animated and live-action Beauty and the Beast films.
Don’t mind us, we’re just practicing our rendition of “Be Our Guest.”
Canada Far and Wide
Rounding out the trio of experiences coming to Epcot in January of 2020 is a new Circle-Vision 360° film, “Canada Far and Wide”, which will replace the previous film, “‘O Canada.”
The new show will feature brand new scenes and a new story — we’re looking forward to checking it out!
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Two experiences are coming to Epcot’s France Pavilion during the summer of 2020, including Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
This trackless dark ride is based on a similar attraction in Disneyland Paris, and will allow you to “shrink to the size of Chef Remy and race through Gusteau’s restaurant.”
La Crêperie de Paris
Joining Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure next summer is La Crêperie de Paris, which will offer both table-service and quick-service dining. The location will showcase the cuisine of celebrity chef Jérôme Bocuse of Chefs de France and Monsieur Paul.
The menu will be inspired by the Brittany region of France and will offer both savory and sweet crepes.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
The highly-anticipated coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, will open in time for Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebration in 2021.
The attraction will be located in the future Epcot neighborhood World Discovery, and will feature the first-ever “reverse launch into space!”
Also opening in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021 is Epcot’s PLAY! Pavilion, which will be located in the World Discovery neighborhood as well.
The PLAY! Pavilion (which will be housed in the old Wonders of Life building) is described as a “digital metropolis” where you’re able to connect with others in new and fun ways — through “games, activities, and experiences.” Spoiler alert — fashionista Edna Mode will be involved in this Pavilion!
Now, we don’t yet have an opening date or season for this one yet, but we recently learned that Epcot will welcome a Mary Poppins attraction to the UK Pavilion!
This new attraction will allow guests to “step in time down Cherry Tree Land past Admiral Boom’s house, then enter Number 17, home of the Banks family.” Disney JUST announced this attraction at the recent D23 Expo, so we don’t have too many details yet, but we’ll keep you updated as we learn more!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
As of August 29th, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is finally open in Disney World! While guests can now ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, the land’s second attraction — Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance — won’t open until December 5th, 2019.
This will be the longest ride Disney’s ever created and will include some pretty epic elements, including a final drop! You’ll spot characters like BB-8, Poe Dameron, Rey, and even Kylo Ren.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
In spring 2020, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open in Hollywood Studios’ Chinese Theater, replacing The Great Movie Ride.
The ride inspired by the “cadence and comedy” of the new Mickey and Minnie cartoon shorts and will take guests on a ride through the cartoon itself. Imagineers shared that we’ll be on an adventure as “fish out of water” in Mickey, Minnie, and the gang’s world! Expect to enter a zany, theatrical world of cartoon logistics and physics!
During last week’s D23 Expo, we learned that not only is a new Cirque du Soleil show coming to Disney Springs but that it will begin previews on March 20, 2020. And guess what? Tickets are already on sale!
The show — which is unnamed at the moment — is inspired by Disney animation and storytelling and will bring that to life with “acrobatic performances, dazzling choreography, musical masterpieces, and whimsical characters” as only Cirque can!
Disney’s Riviera Resort
Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera
As you may know, Disney World’s Riviera Resort is set to open its doors on December 16th, 2019. When the newest Disney Vacation Club resort opens, so will its several dining locations. These include Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera, Le Petit Cafe, Voyageurs Lounge, Bar Riva, and Primo Piatto.
Topolino’s will be the resort’s headlining restaurant and will feature signature dining for dinner, great views of Epcot’s fireworks, and a prix fixe character breakfast! The restaurant’s menu will offer a blend of Italian and French dishes inspired by the Riviera region of Europe.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
As we mentioned above, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open in Disney World on December 5th, 2019, but Disneyland fans will have to wait a little longer until January 17th, 2020.
Magic Happens Parade
During last week’s D23 Expo, we learned that a new parade called Magic Happens is coming to Disneyland in spring 2020.
The new parade will be a blend of both classic and new Disney stories, and will feature Moana, Coco, Sleeping Beauty, and of course Mickey Mouse and the gang. It will also include a brand new song produced in partnership with singer-songwriter Toddrick Hall.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Though guests will be able to experience Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disney World next spring, Disneyland’s version of the attraction won’t open until 2022.
Disneyland’s Toontown will be home to the new ride. It will be housed in the El CapiTOON Theatre playing on the El Capitan Theatre, where Snow White first debuted.
Disney California Adventure
In 2020, Disney California Adventure will welcome the first phase of their Marvel-themed land, Avengers Campus. This land is also on the way to Disneyland Paris, but its opening season is unknown at this time.
This land will include not one but TWO new attractions and a brand new restaurant experience based on PYM techology!
According to Disney, “In some ways, these new campuses are like the Avengers themselves: a group of diverse individuals who have teamed up for the same purpose,” said Scot Drake, Creative Executive, Marvel Global Portfolio, Walt Disney Imagineering. “This collection of unique addresses—each dedicated to a different discipline—have been brought together to champion the next generation of heroes.”
Worldwide Engineering Brigade or WEB
Opening with Avengers Campus in 2020, the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (also known as WEB) will be a BRAND NEW Spider-Man experience and the very FIRST Spider-Man ride-through attraction at Disney.
The attraction certainly sounds intriguing! According to Disney, “During an open house at WEB, the aspiring inventors are excited to invite you for a test drive of their latest invention: the “Web Slinger” vehicle, which allows you to sling webs just like Spider-Man!”
PYM Test Kitchen
A brand new restaurant known as PYM Test Kitchen will also open with Avengers Campus in 2020!
We don’t know a whole lot about this location yet, but Disney has given us a taste of what we can expect. “Just as Ant-Man and The Wasp use ‘Pym Particles’ to grow and shrink just about anything, Pym Technologies is using the latest innovations to grow and shrink food at this eatery!” Growing and shrinking food?! We’re here for it, Disney!
Wow, we sure do have a lot of new experiences to look forward to, don’t we?! We’re just counting down the days until we can check them out for ourselves.
