Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has FINALLY opened in Hollywood Studios. But after years of anticipation, what can guests look forward to now?
Luckily, there are a lot of exciting events, festivals, and changes taking place throughout the parks. So, we’re taking a look at ALL of the opportunites to look forward to for the rest of 2019!
The 2019 Epcot Food and Wine Festival
We have already kicked off the 2019 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! This event, which will be taking place until November 23rd, gives guests the opportunity to taste and try different foods and drinks from around the world.
You take an international exploration with your family and friends as you dine on some of the BEST food that Disney has to offer. Or, you can learn new cooking skills from celebrity chefs before listening to some stellar music from the Eat to the Beat line-up.
We’re OBVI giant fans of Food and Wine, and think that its a great addition to a Disney vacay! If you’re looking for recommendations be sure to take a peek at our Best of the Fest where we share our favorites from this year’s festival!
Mickey’s Not-S0-Scary Halloween Party
Another event that has ALREADY kicked off this year is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! There were a BUNCH of new additions this year. A few of these include Mickey’s Not So Spooky Spectacular, the addition of Constance — the bride from Haunted Mansion — to Disney’s Boo-to-You Parade, and a new Cruella’s Halloween Hide-a-Way Dessert Party.
Each year, we love dressing as our favorite Disney character while eating spelltastic treats. A few of our NEW favorites this year were the Mickey Waffle Sundae, the Constance For Better Or For Worse Cake, and the Lots-O-Burger.
This family-friendly event is also filled with rare character meet-and-greets, trick-or-treating, dance parties, and more! It’s one of the only places you can meet Moana at Disney World during the year!
There’s still time to experience this fun family-friendly experience. Tickets are still available and the party will continue to take place on select nights through October 31st.
The Disney Skyliner Gondolas will officially take flight on September 29th. This new mode of Disney transportation will give travelers a birds-eye view of Walt Disney World resort as it transports them to and from Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Pop Century Resort, Art of Animation Resort, Riviera Resort, and Caribbean Beach Resort.
The Skyliner Gondolas can fit 10 guests, or up to six guests if you’re traveling with a wheelchair or ECV. Though the gondolas do not have air conditioning, they do have a ventilation system in place. We cannot wait to see how this transforms Disney transportation and to see how it compares to the bus or monorail system.
The main station will be located at Caribbean Beach Resort. Here, you’ll find a brand new Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea location. This location will serve coffees, teas, and assorted pastries. They will also be serving the exclusive Toffee Flight Latte which you can read more about here.
The Epcot Experience Coming to Epcot
D23 Expo 2019 was HUGE. Throughout it, a TON of announcements were made for new attractions, restaurants, and experiences. As many of you may know, Epcot is undergoing a huge transformation. As part of this transformation, Disney announced the Epcot Experience, which is set to open October 1st.
The Epcot Experience is going to be located inside the Odyssey Events Pavilion. This first-of-its-kind offering will give guests the opportunity to “discover engaging and interactive exhibits that allow guests to step inside the relentless innovation, energy, and excitement.”
This new location will also give guests the opportunity to see never-before-released details about the future of Epcot.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
This adorable event happens every year throughout the holiday season in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, and it’s the perfect place to celebrate the season with your family! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will even bring a few surprises this year!
Guests will enjoy a brand new fireworks show this year — Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show — which we’re sure will include plenty of projections on the castle.

Epcot’s Festival of the Holidays and Candlelight Processional
Returning again this year is Epcot’s eagerly anticipated Festival of the Holidays. We JUST got the full menus for this amazing celebration of holiday traditions…and FOOD of course…and it’s gonna be AWESOME!
Returning this year are some former favorites as well as a few brand new dishes. Check out all the details on the Epcot Festival of the Holidays Menus here!
And don’t forget the incredible Candlelight Processional. This gorgeous event features a massive choir and full orchestra, and narration offered by international celebrities!
We can also recommend grabbing your Candlelight Processional Dinner Package to make sure you’re not waiting in the hours-long lines that develop at the processional.
Enchanted Rose Lounge
A new Beauty and the Beast-inspired lounge known as Enchanted Rose will be opening at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort in the fall of 2019. This new location, which is replacing Mizner’s Lounge, will have four themed areas. Inspired by the live-action film, Disney has shared that the signature bar “will glow from the light of a magnificent gold chandelier that takes its inspiration from Belle’s flowing ball gown.”
A library will showcase “classical baroque designs and French furnishings inspired by Belle, with hints of the Beast’s friends.” There will also be a whimsical garden room, which was inspired by the enchanted forest around Beast’s Castle. And there be an outdoor patio, which will “evoke the romance of Beast’s garden terrace.”
Epcot Forever to Debut
It’s just about time to say farewell to IllumiNations. On September 30th, IllumiNations will light up the sky for the very last time. Debuting the next day will be Epcot’s newest show — Epcot Forever.
This new firework spectacular will revolve around a soundtrack of familiar tunes. According to Alan Bruun, the show director of Disney Parks Live Entertainment, “Music is the star of the show… going back to the very beginnings of Epcot… music [guests] know and love but in a whole new way.”
There will also be new kite technology, lasers, fireworks, and lighting!! Though we are VERY sad to see IllumiNations go, we are excited about the future of Epcot and this new show.
Guests can expect to experience an all-new dining experience known as Space 220 THIS WINTER. This new space-themed restaurant will be run by the Patina Group (who run several other restaurants through Disney property).
According to Disney, this new table-service restaurant will take guests on a dining adventure 220 miles ABOVE Epcot. Guests will hop on an elevator allowing guests to “feel like they are rocketing into orbit.” Once in the air, guests will have the opportunity to see both daytime and nighttime views of Earth from their panoramic view of outer space.
So, what about the eats and drinks? Well while we don’t have all the details, we do know that Space 220 will offer internationally-inspired menus, along with a hefty list of beers and international wines.
Regal Eagle Smokehouse
While few details have been shared, we do know that Regal Eagle Smokehouse will be coming to the America Pavilion in Epcot this winter.
Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue is replacing Liberty Inn and the new location will feature BBQ and craft brews on tap. According to Disney, Regal Eagle will have “all the accompanying sights, sounds, smells and flavors you love – including a large smoker preparing fine food every day right on the pavilion’s promenade.” My fingers are crossed that’ll it’ll have the same vibe as BaseLine Taphouse in Hollywood Studios!
The opening of Rise of the Resistance
Although Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is officially open, its main attraction, Rise of the Resistance, will not be opening until December 5th. Rise of the Resistance will be lengthy and intense. You can read all of the details here!
With 4+ ride systems, a walking component to the attraction, and a massive Star Destroyer room FULL of Storm Troopers (and Kylo Ren!), we think you’re gonna want to see this.
Disney has also shared NEW information about the ride’s epic ending. Guests will end their intergalactic adventures with a Tower of Terror-like drop!!
And opening on December 16th is Disney’s Riviera Resort. This NEW DVC resort will be the home of FIVE…yes five!!… new dining experiences. Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera will be a rooftop restaurant and bar. Le Petit Cafe will be located off the lobby and will sell coffee and pastries.
Riviera is also one of the Disney Skyliner stops, so you will be able to take to the skies from this new resort.
So never fear, my little cabbages, there’s plenty to hold our interest for the next few months in Disney World! Don’t forget to join the DFB Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the latest news as soon as it breaks!
