Welcome back, DFB foodies! We’re here with another What’s New at the Monorail Resorts in Disney World.
We’ve got lots of construction, entertainment, merch, and food updates for ya, so let’s dig on in!
Grand Floridian Resort
Construction Updates
Construction is still underway for what could potentially be a walkway between the Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom.
While Disney World recently has received a new form of transportation with the grand opening of the Skyliner Gondola System… The Skyliner is currently down at this time. You can read more about this here!
… The walkway from the Grand Floridian could be another quick option for guests to travel from their resort when it is completed (if you don’t feel like waiting for the Monorail, that is!). We’ll keep updating you as the progress continues!
Currently, the lobby is under refurbishment inside the hotel. We were told by a Cast Member that this is most likely for the band whenever the gingerbread house is up for the holidays as they are unable to go upstairs because of the new Enchanted Rose Lounge.
Read our full Enchanted Rose review here!
Entertainment Updates
October is full of activities for all ages at the Grand Floridian!
Whether you want to participate in Rise & Shine Yoga…
… Or create your own Halloween themed ceramic tree…
… There’s a little bit of Fall fun for everybody staying at the resort!
Food Updates
At 1900 Park Fare, we spotted a few price changes and menu updates. While the breakfast last month was $24 for kids and $40 for adults, now the prices have been upped to $26 for kids and $44 for adults.
The dinner prices changed from $33 for kids and $55 for adults to $35 for kids and $59 for adults as well. We also happened to see that the Tortellini Pasta was replaced by Penne Pasta on the dinner menu.
Continuing the trend of menu changes, the Grand Floridian Cafe said goodbye to some old menu items and hello to new dishes! At “blunch” time (brunch just rolls off the tongue better tbh), you can now try the Avocado Toast, Roasted Tomato and Feta Quiche, Impossible Burger, and Garden Vegetable Pasta!
However, the Cafe Garden Quiche is no longer available. If you feel like having a sip of a mimosa with your meal, the drink prices increased from $12.25 and $12.50 to $14 each (seems a lil steep for one drink, don’t ya think?)
On the dinner menu, the Garden Vegetable Pasta, Impossible Burger, and Grilled Romaine Market Salad were added, replacing the Spinach Ricotta Ravioli.
Moving on to the Gasparilla Island Grill, plant-based items have popped up on the menus!
The plant-based Smoked “Gouda” Grilled Cheese, Farmhouse Burger, Blackened “Chicken” Sandwich, and Pizza Formaggio have made their delicious debut at the restaurant.
And, while we were scoping out the bakery case for some dessert (obvs!)…
The Frozen 2 Cookie blew into sight with its beautiful Fall colors!
The leaf-shaped treat consists of shortbread cookies, maple cream filling, and a white chocolate disc featuring the Arendelle sisters!
You can check out our full review of the Frozen 2 Cookie here!
Before hopping over to our next resort, we noticed that the Arancini was removed from Citricos‘s menu (farewell, old friend!).
Contemporary Resort
Merch Updates:
Frozen 2 merchandise has been sweeping across the parks, but Fantasia Gifts had a few new items we hadn’t seen yet!
Whether you’re wanting an outfit fit for a queen with the Frozen 2 Women’s V-Neck Shirt for $34.99…
… Or a little princess with the Frozen 2 Kids’ Sweatshirt for $39.99, you can look like royalty when the film premieres in a few weeks!
Maybe even pair your new shirts with the Frozen 2 Leggings for $24.99…
… The Metallic Olaf Hat for $24.99…
… Or the Fearless Phone Case for $29.99! (Elsa would agree that you would look stylish and daring with any of this merch!)
Even if you aren’t feeling like adding anything to your wardrobe, there’s always room for a few new CUTE toys!!
Since we all adore both the Young Elsa and Anna with the Animators’ Plushes for $19.99 each…
… We can’t help but love their grown-up, independent selves with the Elsa and Anna Plush Dolls for $26.99 too!
And, you can’t forget our favorite snowman sidekick to go along with the sisters with the Olaf Plush for $26.99! He’s definitely worth melting for.
While we have to wait until November to discover the quest Elsa and Anna are going on in Frozen 2, you can take them on your own journey with the Elsa and Anna Doll Set for $49.99…
… Or the Anna Doll for $36.99!
Let your power flurry with the Elsa Wrist Water Shooters for $24.99!
While you might not be able to have actual ice powers (bummer), you can create your own icy water blasts playing in the pool with your friends!
Food Updates
At Contempo Cafe, the Plant-Based Grilled Tofu Bowl was added to the dinner menu…
… Along with the Kale Power Greens Salad that has replaced the previous Harvest Greens Salad.
Over in the bakery (which just happens to be one of our favorite parts of Contempo Cafe)…
… The Arendelle Aqua Cake has crystallized with its vanilla cake, blueberry buttercream, blueberry jam, edible gold paint, and sugary decorations!
You can read our full review of the Arendelle Aqua Cake here!
California Grill‘s menu is seeing a lot of differences at the moment! While the Shiso Tuna Rolls, Angry Dragon Rolls, Plant-Based Rolls, Fire-Roasted Shrimp and Mussels, and the Plant-Based Unplugged have been added, the Green Circle Mole Chicken and the New Moon and Tuna Three Ways Sushi Rolls have been removed from the menu.
The Fig and Prosciutto Pizza has also replaced the Corn and Carnitas Pizza, and the Apple Salad has replaced the California Peach Salad as well.
The Wave is following the California Grill’s current by adding the California Taco and Tikka Masala to their menu!
Polynesian Resort
Food Updates:
Ahh, the bakery at Kona Island. It’s a must-do whenever you visit the Polynesian Resort!
During our visit, we saw that the chocolate bacon had some new Halloween colors (but the same flavors were the same as before).
There was also a new Halloween Donut added to the bakery case…
… Along with the Mike Wazowski Cake! The chocolate dome cake was made with chocolate chips and green chocolate ganache on top.
You can check out our full review of the Mike Cake here!
‘Tis the season for pumpkin spice! And, all you PSL lovers out there (like us) are def going to want to head over and take a sip of the Pumpkin Spiced Latte that you can get either hot or iced at Kona Island.
You can check out our full review of the Pumpkin Spiced Latte here!
If you’re feeling a lil boozy, the POG Juice Wine Slushie made of pineapple, orange, and guava juices as well as Coppo Moncalvina Moscato and pineapple soda will transport you to a tropical getaway during your Disney World vacay!
You can check out our review of the Frozen POG Slushie here!
Kona Cafe has also given its menus a few revamps. On the sushi menu, the Hamachi Spiral and Spicy Alaskan King Crab Rolls have been removed and the Vegetable Nigiri Sushi Sampler has been added instead.
On both the lunch and dinner menus, the Coconut Mussels and Appetizer Salad have been removed and the Seafood Pu Pu Platter has been added. The Fire-Roasted Pork Wings have been switched to the Glazed Chicken Wings, while the Beef Pho has replaced the Kanpachi Dashi Bowl. The Kona Chicken Stir Fry has been introduced on the lunch menu…
… And the Steak Salad and Lobster Mac and Cheese have popped up on the dinner menu! The 20 oz Black Angus Ribeye and Porterhouse for 2 has been taken off the dinner menu, though.
At Captain Cook’s (where you can get more of your “Polynesian favorites”)…
… The Superfoods Salad has replaced the Tuna Salad, the Roasted Red Pepper Burger has replaced the Plant-Based Burger, and the Seafood Flatbread has been removed.
However, the Avocado Toast with egg, cheddar, goat cheese, arugula, and tomato on multigrain bread had made its way onto the menu (and into our stomachs).
You can check out our full review of the Avocado Toast here!
Plant-based items are also being notated now on the breakfast menu at Captain Cook’s for everybody who wants to start their day off with some of the new dishes!
The Ice Elixir Cocktail had joined the other Arendelle Aqua treats at the Barefoot Pool Bar. The drink is made with Tanquery gin, blue curaçao, and lemon and pineapple flavors!
You can check out our full review of the Ice Elixir here!
We hope you’re hungry because a HUGE PORTION of the ‘Ohana meal has arrived at the Tambu Lounge (sans the salad and mixed veggies).
You can get the Tambu Mixed Grill Kebab with 2 chicken, 2 steak, and 4 shrimp pieces on the skewers…
… As well as the Noodles…
… And the Bread off the “secret menu” per our server! You can also order the bread pudding, wings, and potstickers off the secret menu.
The ‘Ohana food is available from 4 PM until 10 PM, so we totally know what your dinner plans for the weekend are! (;

Do you just have to ask about getting the O’hana Bread Pudding at the Tambu Lounge? I have a late reservation for O’hana I’m hoping to be able to switch, but if not, this might be a good alternative!!
DebC says
With a burger for $24, it had better be served on a solid gold plate and the server crawls on their knees to get it to me. Those are crazy prices.
gino says
The day that there is no longer beef or only plant based food is the day I sell my DVC.
Kelly Jeanne says
Omg those bakery cases in the Contemporary and Poly..I want 1 of everything. However, Weight Watchers say no.
Essie says
You could spend most of the day just exploring the monorail resorts. It gives you a great option when you need a test from the parks.
