If you’re visiting in the morning, you can enjoy Strawberry and Chocolate Chip Pancakes ($10.49).

Plaza Inn will be adding a Spicy Glazed Salmon with Chipotle Pineapple Glaze, Mixed Vegetables and Mushroom Quinoa for $16.99. (But why would you NOT get the fried chicken? That’s romantic, right?)

Café Orléans  will offer a “Bouchee of Love” :) . What’s a “Bouchee of Love,” exactly? It’s a puff pastry filled with shrimp, chicken, spinach, and tomato concasse in a creamy diable sauce with a drizzle of roasted cauliflower couli. ($19.49)

If you’ve already scored your Blue Bayou reservation, you’ll be able to enjoy Pan-Seared Hawaiian Hamachi, Spaghetti Squash, and Array of Roasted Potatoes (Sweet Potato, Yukon, Purple Potato), with Persimmon burr blanc ($36.99).

Seasonal Beverages at Disneyland Hotel’s Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

One of our FAVORITE places to hang-out in Disneyland — Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar — is serving seasonal beverages for the Christmas season until January 5, 2014.

News! Disneyland Dining Reservations Available Online Starting October 3rd

Disneyland Resort has announced that dining reservations will be available online starting October 3, 2013!

This new option will make booking meals more efficient at Disneyland, Disney California Adventure park, Downtown Disney District, and Disneyland Resort hotel restaurants. (YAY!!!)

Once the online booking option is live, the email reservation service will end, however those reservations may also be made at 714-781-DINE.

Looking for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Pirates League, and Studio Disney 365 reservations? You’ll still need to call 714-781-STYLE.

Dining in Disneyland: Fancy New Peppermills at Steakhouse 55

So this is a bit random, but on my last visit to Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel, I noticed that they had some awesome new custom peppermills.

After inquiring about them through our server, the manager actually came out to tell us all about them. Yep, the peppermills have a story… .

Manufactured by Fletcher’s Mill in Newport, Maine, these peppermills aren’t the only thing to come off of the line.  The factory actually makes more drumsticks than anything else!  In fact, they produce 55%  of the world’s market.

Owned by famous percussionist Vic Firth, Fletcher’s Mill provides drumsticks for some of the most famous musicians in the industry.  Over 50 years ago, Firth began designing his own drumsticks because he was not happy with the ones on the market.  He later sought out to manufacture his own.  Firth purchased Fletcher’s Mill with intentions of shutting down all manufacturing and making solely drumsticks. Upon touring it, he decided to keep the gourmet division open.  In addition to his drumsticks, he’s now known for peppermills, too!  The mill used at Steakhouse 55 is the 17″ Newport Peppermill.

Described as “tall and sleek” the Newport Peppermill is available in three different finishes: black, mahogany and maple. Steakhouse 55 had theirs customized with their logo in silver on black. In my perfect world I’d be able to buy the Steakhouse 55 one for myself! I was able to find one on Amazon, but the logo thing unfortunately won’t be happening… .

Must-Try Eats at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar in Disneyland

There’s been a lot of talk recently about Disneyland’s unique and incredible Trader Sam’s Tiki Bar possibly replicating itself in Disney World’s upcoming Disney Springs (which I think would be totally rad).

And since many Trader Sam’s reviews put a huge focus on drinks — understandably (you can see tons of Trader Sam’s drinks here!) — I thought it would be fun this time to take a quick look at two of my favorite FOOD items at the Disneyland hot spot.

Disneyland Dining Reservations Via Email Now Available

Great news for us Disneyland food fans! Restaurant reservations can now be booked via email! Remember, reservations in Disneyland can be booked 60 days in advance.

Say Hello to Tigger at Minnie's Breakfast at the Plaza in Disneyland!

Here’s how it works:

  • Guests may now email their dining reservation requests to
  • Requests will be reviewed the same day, when received during the hours of 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., 7 days a week
  • Requests received after hours will be reviewed the next day
  • Guests may request Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Studio Disney 365 reservations through this email address as well
  • Email requests should include the following information:
    1. Name of the restaurant or experience you’d like to book
    2. Requested reservation date and meal period (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
    3. Total number of guests in your party
    4. Your name and phone number
  • Remember: Your request is not confirmed until you’ve received a confirmation number

Review: Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

“Aloha, ahoy, aha! And welcome to the mystery, romance, and adventure of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar.”

These are the words that lure you into Trader Sam’s story when you first look at a menu in this brand new Tiki bar in the Disneyland Hotel! In fact, a good friend of mine has referred to it as “the best of the Jungle Cruise, Adventurers Club, and Tiki Room rolled into a liquor license.” I heartily agree.

Let’s take a trip to the “happy outpost,” shall we?

Happy New Year, everyone! 2011 was a big year for food in Disney parks and resorts, and when there are this many changes it can be helpful to recap — especially if you’re headed to a Disney park or resort soon!

Walt Disney World Year In Review

Restaurant Openings and Renovations
Although they haven’t enjoyed as many full-blown restaurant openings as they did in 2009 and 2010, Disney World has definitely had its share of restaurant renovations and updates.

Tortuga Tavern in the Magic Kingdom replaced the (also Pirate-themed) El Pirata y El Perico. Serving much the same menu, including Mexican and Tex-Mex options, Tortuga also added some fun and whimsical decor so that you don’t forget that you’re in Disney World.

Also in the Magic Kingdom, we saw Storybook Treats and Cheshire Cafe develop from their former counterparts.

The AMC Fork and Screen Theater opened in Downtown Disney in 2011, so you can save time by doing dinner and a movie together, then heading back out into the parks! Nothing like some serious multi-tasking in the World!

Katsura Grill replaced Yakitori House in Epcot’s Japan late in 2011. Much of the same food is offered, but you will find a slightly more “clean lines” layout and a few additional classic Japanese menu items.

The overhaul in Japan also included the addition of the Kabuki Cafe, which is basically a more formal Kaki Gori stand also serving a seasonal menu of Japanese snacks like Miso Soup, Sushi, and Edamame.

Right between the two new spots? An outdoor Sake bar! We can highly recommend the lime sake cocktail!

Also in Epcot, the always-popular Le Cellier Steakhouse turned its dinner meal into a signature dining option in March, making this meal 2 credits on the Disney Dining Plan. Le Cellier is still a tough ticket to get, so I think the hope that this price increase would lessen demand for reservations might be dashed. It’s still a popular spot for both lunch and dinner.

Over in Animal Kingdom, the guest-favorite Tusker House Character breakfast has expanded to include a new character lunch as well! This has brought positive response from Disney character meal fans!

Christmas in Disneyland: Santa’s Cabin & Storytellers Cafe Gingerbread House

There are two awesome holiday experiences in Disneyland Resort that are not to be missed this year. Nope, I’m not talking about the homemade candy canes or the yule log (though both of those are definitely not-to-be-missed!), I’m talking about visiting Santa’s Cabin at Big Thunder Ranch in Disneyland and visiting the gingerbread house at Storytellers Cafe in Disney’s Grand Californian Resort!

Every year my family visits Santa at his Disneyland home away from the North Pole.  His lovely cabin in Big Thunder Ranch is the perfect escape from the harsh winter back home. He even brings along Mrs. Claus and his reindeer too!
