Review: Updated Menu at Chefs de France in Epcot

Bonjour from Chefs de France!

Chefs de France is located, of course, in none other than Epcot’s France Pavilion. If you’ve been reading the DFB for any length of time you already know that France is a must-visit Pavilion when it comes to dining options in the World Showcase, what with Counter Service and snack showstoppers like Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie and L’Artisan des Glaces, as well as signature drinks like the Grand Marnier Orange Slush.

But the longtime favorite we’re visiting today is one of the Pavilion’s two Table Service restaurants (the other being Monsieur Paul, the signature dining option). And “longtime” is definitely the operative word, as Chefs de France has been welcoming guests since the park’s opening.

But that doesn’t mean things have stayed exactly the same over the years. In fact, our recent visit was due to some changes at Chefs de France that we wanted to check out for ourselves.

The change includes a new menu, and we made a midday Advance Dining Reservation to scope out the situation. [Read more…]

News: Vivoli il Gelato Debuts Tiramisu Gelato for a Limited Time

We’d like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Vivoli il Gelato!

That’s right – the Disney Springs gelateria is turning a year old! This spot has been serving scoops of housemade gelato (with many ingredients imported directly from Italy), sorbet, specialty espresso beverages and baked goods since last June when it first opened its doors.

What a difference a year makes, huh? Since Vivoli il Gelato opened, it has been joined in Disney Springs by spots like Joffrey’s Tea Traders Café, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, Morimoto Asia, and The Ganachery… and that’s JUST in The Landing neighborhood alone!

All of that makes this first birthday for Vivoli il Gelato even more momentous, seeing as it can now be considered one of the bona fide veterans of the Disney Springs dining locations added over the past year.

And to celebrate the anniversary, the spot will be serving a limited-run flavor for THIS WEEKEND ONLY! While supplies last, Disney Springs guests will have the chance to try a custom-made Tiramisu Gelato, based on the traditional Italian dessert. [Read more…]

Review: Lunch (and new menu items!) at Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant

With so many new spots to check out at Disney Springs, I was anxious to get back to a few of our longstanding favorites.

So on a recent visit to Walt Disney World, I took the opportunity to meet friends at Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant.

Atmosphere

If you’re familiar with the former Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island, then you know that Raglan Road used to front the Pleasure Island District, right next to the expansive parking lots.

Well, with the redesign of the entire area and the birth of Disney Springs, Raglan Road seems to have moved! Actually, it’s in exactly the same place…it’s just that Disney Springs has bubbled up right out front of the spot. :-)

So to get your bearings, you need to think of what’s around the restaurant now. You’ll find it across the bridge from Sprinkles. And of course, Morimoto Asia is right next door. [Read more…]

Tour of Quick Service Eats at Disney World’s Blizzard Beach

With Memorial Day weekend behind us, summer has unofficially begun. So grab your towel, OODLES of sunscreen, and (Swim) SUIT UP… because I can’t think of a better place to kick off the season than BLIZZARD BEACH!!!

Blizzard Beach

Blizzard Beach

I don’t know about you, but fewer things make me as hungry as a day of splashing the day away at one of Disney World’s two water parks (Blizzard Beach’s counterpart is Typhoon Lagoon). So we thought it would be fun to take you on a little tour of the Quick Service spots around Blizzard Beach and grab a bite or two while we’re at it. We’ll start our tour at one of the first buildings you see as you enter the park.  [Read more…]

Review: Flavor Boosted Beverages at Magic Kingdom’s Columbia Harbour House

We’re back in Liberty Square for a visit to one of our readers’ favorite quick service spots — Columbia Harbour House!

But we’re not back for the tried-and-true items that make this spot a top choice — dishes like the Anchors Aweigh and Lighthouse Sandwiches, Vegetarian Chili, and the beloved Lobster Roll.

In fact, we’re actually here for something you can find pretty much everywhere in Disney World: fountain beverages. Oh, and tea and Slushes.

But Columbia Harbour House is the first counter service location in a park we’ve seen to introduce the chance to spruce up your regular ol’ soda pop with an extra flavor boost. You can add a Monin Premium Flavored Syrup to your drink or slush of choice to the tune of 50 pennies.

The six flavor choices include Blackberry, Mango, Passion Fruit, Peach, Watermelon, and Wildberry for your Slush, iced or hot tea, or fountain drink.

Full Review: Nomad Lounge in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

“Welcome Travelers, to the Nomad Lounge, a place to share stories about travel and adventure.”

These are the words that welcome you to the Nomad Lounge in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But even before reading that sentence, you can already tell you’ve entered into a place celebrating the “concept of being transformed by adventure.”

So pack your own sense of adventure as we do some exploring of this brand new space that just joined the scene on May 27th — the very same day that the park itself stayed open well into the night for the first time! Of course, it’s not the only new offering in the park that has found the need to expand food options as well as entertainment in light of the new all-day schedule.

But I do think you’re about to see why it’s become an immediate favorite to many guests already. Step in with me, fellow travelers…

Atmosphere

Nomad Lounge is housed in the same structure as Tiffins — Animal Kingdom’s first Signature Restaurant.

Full Review: Tiffins at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Welcome to Tiffins!

We were so excited that this highly anticipated restaurant was finally open on Friday that we gave you a first look immediately! But today, we are back with our full review and tour!!

There is sooo much to share with you. And after a few days to process it all, we’re eager to share with you our experience at Disney World’s newest signature restaurant — right in Animal Kingdom!

Atmosphere

You may still be trying to get your bearings where Tiffins is concerned. After all, this is the first time that Animal Kingdom has ventured into signature dining. So what’s it all about, anyway? I mean, how do they translate Animal Kingdom into fine dining?

Tiffins Sign -- Up Close

In a nutshell, the restaurant celebrates the global inspiration and artwork behind the design of the park. And we loved how they incorporated actual ride concept art as well as mementos of the imagineers’ time in Africa while planning Animal Kingdom. [Read more…]
