Guest Review: Epcot Food and Wine Festival Seafood Dishes

Thanks to Disney Food Blog reader Galloping Gourmand for relaying his reviews about a few seafood dishes featured in this year’s Epcot Food and Wine Festival!

This was my first trip to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, and while I couldn’t go to any events I was determined to make the most of it. I arrived early so I could ride all the rides I wanted (first load on Soarin’!) and maximize my eating time. I saw it as an opportunity to try things I have never tried before and ignore the myriad of health problems one could get from eating them all in a 10 hour period. Some of these are international foods that are hard to get where I live (near NYC, so not many of those) and others are things that I’ve simply never tried before.

Here are a few reviews of seafood dishes around the [Read more…]

Disney Food Post Round-Up: October 24, 2010

Welcome to the Disney Food Post Round-Up!

The 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival may be half over, but there’s still a lot of eating and drinking to do! You can find links to all of our coverage, including reviews of some of the newest events at the festival, here.

And if the World Showcase booths are your destination, we’ve got food pictures, prices, and menus to help you as you plan how to make the most of that stomach space!

Now, on to the Round-Up!

Progress City USA collects another panoply of weird, early 80’s Disney World marketing goodness for us here. The reason why I’m allowed to post it on the round-up is because if you look at the third video, around 6 minutes and 2 seconds in, you’ll see some great footage of the old Top of the World Restaurant at Disney’s Contemporary Resort (the ORIGINAL one). But, all in all, you should watch all the videos. And read the commentary. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry.

Hoperatives shares a guide to better beer at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival.

Parkeology has a bone to pick with Pinocchio Village Haus… .

Main Street Gazette has a photo from the Belgium booth that I’m loving!

AllEars.net blogger Deb Martin Koma has some great coverage of the First Bites Opening Reception at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival!

MousePlanet and Jim Korkis have more Frito Kid goodness. (Speaking of, the Frito Kid and Klondike now reside on my cell phone as my ringtone. Just thought you guys should know that.)

Zannaland covers a fun evening with Chef Robert Irvine at the Crew’s Cup Lounge! You can see more coverage here (from our own Chef BigFatPanda), here from Disney Everyday, and here from Theme Park Mom!

Touring Plans‘ blogger Kristen Helmstetter shares her F&W Fest experience and reviews!

The Disney Chick makes Rum Raisin Gugelhopf from the 2009 Epcot Food and Wine Festival.

990 Square has some gorgeous photos and a review of her Sweet Sundays experience with the owners of Baked.

A Taste of Disney makes Tacos de Carne from La Cantina de San Angel.

All’s Fare Food Blog makes the Key Lime Pie recipe from Old Key West Resort.

A Taste of Wonderland considers eating organic in Disney World.

Epcot Food and Wine Festival Food Pictures: Puerto Rico, Hops & Barley, Poland Booths

Puerto Rico
I’m pretty sure Puerto Rico was my husband’s favorite booth, and in spite of the slight cilantro taste to the soup, it was one of my favorites as well! The incredible medianoche sandwich was a surprising winner — savory, warm, and just perfect for a midnight kitchen raid! ;-) And the asopao de pollo had some serious flavor going on! It was a huge portion, and delicious.

The Bacardi Torched Frozen Cherry Colada was incredible. Creamy, cool, sweet, and just enough tang to keep you interested. It is one of my favorite items in the festival! You can see more pictures, the full menu, and prices on our Puerto Rico Booth Page!

Hops & Barley
Slightly new this year at Hops & Barley is the pecan bread pudding. While there was something similar served at the New Orleans booth last year, this fit the bill as a sweet, thoroughly [Read more…]

Epcot Food and Wine Festival Seminar Review: Chefs Keegan Gerhard and Lisa Bailey

OK. Not really. But I did spend an hour with them. And about 50 other people! ;-)

That’s right, I pulled myself out of bed the day the Epcot Food and Wine Festival low-cost seminars went on sale and booked this one first! I’m a huge fan of Chef Gerhard’s and couldn’t wait to see what he and wife Chef Lisa Bailey would prepare! I knew they owned and operated d Bar Desserts in Denver, so I was assuming it’d be something delicious and sweet!

Dessert Sandwich Situation
After taking my seat in the seminar I was excited to read that we’d be watching Keegan and Lisa create a “Dessert Sandwich Situation.” What’s that? A combination of brioche, vanilla butter, raspberry compote, chocolate ganache, and almond ice milk. Sounds pretty [Read more…]

15 Beers for 15 Years Booth at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival

Another brand new kiosk, 15 Beers for 15 Years, was added at the entrance to the World Showcase Promenade this year to celebrate the Epcot Food and Wine Festival‘s 15th anniversary! Across from the booth is the giant “15” planter, so there’s little question as to the significance of the number!

Epcot Food and Wine Festival Planter

This booth was swamped all week, and I imagine the interest level won’t go down all that soon!

How to Buy
Here’s the deal: at the booth you can choose a 6oz or 12oz pour of one of 15 beers (prices range from $2.75-$6.25); or you can choose a beer flight, which consists of [Read more…]
