Guest Review: Liberty Tree Tavern Dinner

Welcome James Hummel (who you may know as @DisneyNorth over on Twitter) as a guest author today! James is a font of wine knowledge, but today he’s reporting on dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern — which serves a menu akin to a typical United States Thanksgiving-type meal each night. Enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving! (Interestingly, James is from Canada, so he probably has to work today. Poor James. :-( )

Having never dined at a Magic Kingdom table service restaurant, I figured it was time to check one out. After reading the great reviews about the lunch that was served at Liberty Tree Tavern, I thought I would “take one for the team” and check out dinner.

As with the rest of Liberty Square, the Liberty Tree Tavern looks like a stereotypical 18th century American Revolutionary War period establishment. Guests are welcomed into an open common area with a large fire place/cooking area. The room was decorated with an autumn theme when we were there.

While I’m used to a certain level of noise at Walt Disney World, Liberty Tree Tavern seemed rather loud. Granted, my 2 year old son had no trouble adding to the noise level. There seemed to be a [Read more…]

Sunshine Seasons: Fresh Food Fast

Sunshine Seasons in Epcot’s The Land continually tops reader favorites lists for best quick-service eatery. Everyone seems to love this place, and I’m not arguing with them. It offers a wide variety of high-quality dishes and includes some healthier items as well. It feels more like a resort food court than anything else, and those extra options make it desirable as a quick-service spot.

Sunshine Seasons is housed on the ground floor of The Land pavilion, which is essentially a massive room with attractions shooting off in all directions, spoke-and-wheel style. The food-court style ordering area is situated in a free-form semi-circle across from the Soarin’ and Living With The Land attractions. [Read more…]

More Dishes From California Grill

The Disney Food Blog took you to the California Grill back in April 2009, but we’ve returned since then and we’ve got more pics for you! :)

Located on the top floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the California Grill is one of Orlando’s most outstanding restaurants. It’s well known for sushi, wine, market-specific menus, and that fantastic fireworks show that happens right outside!

The Eats
We began this evening with our customary cheese plate (I can’t pass up a good cheese plate!), and California Grill doesn’t disappoint. The cheeses will change seasonally, and usually range from mild and buttery to a strong blue cheese (my favorite is the Monte Enebro, which you’ll find on other Disney World cheese plates as well). You’ll often find a variety of sources as well, from sheep’s milk to goat’s milk to cow’s milk. The plates also come with several sweet accompaniments. As you know, the honeycomb is my absolute favorite, but on this plate the candied nuts and sweet apples also were delicious.
