The DFB Bi-Coastal Disney Grilled Cheese Crawl!!!!!!

If you haven’t heard the big news, I’m here to deliver it: April is Grilled Cheese Month. And that, my friends, is a food holiday that we can totally get behind.

2017-DFB-Guide-to-WDW-Dining-Cover_3D

Because we know of a BUNCH of seriously worthy grilled cheese choices in the Disney parks and resorts that we can’t wait to tell you about!

And if you love what you see here, be sure to check out our 2017 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining, which includes tons of bonus features, like fun food crawls throughout Walt Disney World!

Now pack your bags and your stretchy pants, cause it’s time to head to both coasts to partake in the Disney Food Blog Grilled Cheese Crawl!

(Should there be Rocky music playing here or something? I feel like there should be.)

Who’s coming with? Let’s go!

Our first stop: Walt Disney World!

Pimento Grilled Cheese, Planet Hollywood Observatory

If you were there with us when Planet Hollywood Observatory opened (or actually, reopened) its doors earlier this year, then you know that we weren’t all that impressed with most of what we tried. But there was one standout: the Pimento Grilled Cheese.

Pimento Grilled Cheese -- Up Close

Pimento Grilled Cheese — Up Close

The triple decker sandwich is two meals in one. First, you have a fairly traditional Grilled Cheese, spiced up with the addition of Pimento Cheese. But then, the second story involved super cheesy Mac and Cheese layered between crunchy Grilled Bread. Yep, that’s A Layer of Carbs on Top of More Carbs. And we are completely fine with that. What’s New Around Walt Disney World: May 13, 2016

Are you ready for another trip around the World? We’ve got lots of new eats, treats, and Gaston-themed Feasts coming at you for this round of What’s New (along with a peek at a lot — and I mean A LOT — of stuff to come!).

We’re kicking off our latest jaunt at the most Magical of All Kingdoms…

Magic Kingdom

A recent visit to the Magic Kingdom revealed changes and additions — both big and small — to Counter Service spots all over the park.

DFB Reader Questions Answered: Best Disney World Breakfasts Without Characters or Buffets

We’re tackling another question from the DFB Reader mailbag! And today, it’s all about breakfast.

The Samoan at Kona Cafe

The Samoan at Kona Cafe

Our reader asks:

Where can we get a good breakfast if we are NOT into characters or buffets?

There are lots of spots to enjoy a terrific breakfast at Walt Disney World — even if you prefer not to have characters, and you’d rather order a la carte.

We’ll break down a few of our favorites below, and share why these spots are tops for starting your Disney Day.

Good Counter Service Options

If you are crunched — for time, money, or both — then consider some of Disney’s best Counter Service Breakfast options.

Deluxe resorts are some of my favorite spots for counter service eats. Roaring Fork at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge offers Mickey Waffles with a variety of toppings. We love the Bananas Foster option!

And at Captain Cook’s, located in the Polynesian Village Resort, you can indulge in an iconic Disney breakfast — Tonga Toast — without paying table service prices!

How-To: Pre-Order Your Meal at Disney World’s Be Our Guest Restaurant

Though we still have a week or so left, it’s definitely safe to say that 2015 has been another big year for the ever-popular Be Our Guest Restaurant in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

Looking back over the past year… February brought the announcement that lunch at Be Our Guest was ending its FastPass+ test for Disney Resort guests and opening up Advance Dining Reservations to anyone who wished to dine there. In March, we received word that breakfast would be coming to this spot that had only previously offered lunch and dinner. It was also announced that Advance Dining Reservations would be accepted for this new meal as well, even though — like lunch — breakfast is considered a Counter Service meal.

In the weeks and months to follow came a flurry of Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) made by guests focused on their Disney World vacation plans. Perhaps you have even made one in the time since, which might mean that you may be — at this very moment — getting ready to depart shortly for your Disney World vacation! (LUCKY YOU!!)

If your dining time is for breakfast or lunch at Be Our Guest you have the option to pre-order your meal within 30 days of your reservation, and today we’re going to look at how that process works. (The pre-order process does not apply to dinner at Be Our Guest, which, as always, is considered a Table Service meal.) [Read more…]

News: Breakfast at Be Our Guest Restaurant is Permanent

Greetings, Monsieurs et Madames!

The invitation to be the guest of Lumiere, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts for breakfast at Be Our Guest Restaurant has been extended. The initial test phase of the prix fixe, “fast, casual” meal at Be Our Guest Restaurant has ended and breakfast is now officially a permanent offering!

Of course, along with change comes… more change ;). This time in the form of a price increase: it will now cost $21.99 for adults to enjoy the prix fixe breakfast at Be Our Guest (the cost was $19.99 during the test period), and $13.99 for children ages 3-9 (previously $11.99).

Breakfast at Be Our Guest remains 1 Counter Service credit on the Disney Dining Plan.

The official word is that Advance Dining Reservations will open tomorrow, August 5th, via My Disney Experience or by calling (407) WDW-DINE for dates October 4 and extending through the typical 180-day window for reservations. But I’m just sayin’, this is what popped up on my computer today, so you may get lucky and be able to book today for that booking window: [Read more…]

Disney Dining Tips: What to Expect on Peak Booking Days

Are you excited to book your events for the  Epcot Food and Wine Festival?

OF COURSE you are!! You know who else is excited?

Buddy Valastro Demo at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival

Lots and lots (and LOTS) of other people. ;)

Booking for Special Events and Demos and Seminars for the Festival will open to the general public on July 30th at 7 am this year, and the popularity of these events makes that date into something we call a Peak Booking Day — a day when you never quite know what to expect, because the phone lines and online booking engines are often jammed with folks trying to nab their top choices.

"Thank you for calling..."

Get ready to dial!

Of course, sought-after bookings aren’t unique to the Food and Wine Festival. Just ask anyone who’s ever tried to [Read more…]

What’s New Around Walt Disney World: May 20th, 2015

Sure, we may have said “So long” to the Flower and Garden Festival for this year, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to look forward to at Walt Disney World! Springs moves to summer as Disney World gears up for the busy vacation season, otherwise known as the “Coolest Summer Ever”!

And since it’s a very special time of year for Star Wars fans in particular, why don’t we start our ‘round the World tour at Hollywood Studios to see What’s New!

Star Wars Weekends kicked off on May 15th!

Like last year, several temporary pop-up bars can be found all over the park for the weekend events.

However, they feature all-new drinks this year. Each bar serves two out of of four drinks: The Mustafar and The Tatooine, or The Endor and The Alderaan.

We’ll be taking a closer look at those beverages soon, but once again this year, it’s ALL about the souvenir glow cubes: drinks come with either a Millennium Falcon glow cube or your very own mini Death Star.

But brand new to Star Wars Weekends this year is the Rebel Hangar — A Star Wars Lounge Experience, which has effectively converted half of Backlot Express into an abandoned spaceport in the Sullest system.
