Spotted! Character Kitchen Towel Sets in Disney World

What is it with all the seriously cool kitchen stuff arriving on shelves at Disney World lately?

We were thrilled to see the new line of Princess and Villains mugs; and we were so excited for the opening of the Marketplace Co-op, which offers some awesome kitchenware paying homage to some of our favorite attractions and lands.

And then recently I happened across these Alice in Wonderland Dish Towels!

Each set features a pair of towels – the pictures I took show off both of the towels available in each set. The Alice in Wonderland and Queen of Hearts Set is similar the other sets in that they each have one thicker terry cloth-type towel and a lighter one that is more of a quilted style. And just look at the details on the Alice towel.

The Belle Dish Towel Set features a Belle towel, and also a tribute to the “Be Our Guest” number in the film – perfect for the kitchen!

With the new Maleficent movie (as well as the dragon’s showstopping, fire-breathing turn in the new Festival of Fantasy parade), we’re sure to be seeing a lot of this most notorious of Disney Villains. So it’s no surprise that there’s a Maleficent Dish Towel Set as well.

If you look closely at the damask-pattern towel, you’ll see the face of Maleficent appear.

Guest Review: Be Our Guest Restaurant Lunch in the Magic Kingdom

Thanks to my colleague Zanna DiMarzio from Zannaland, for sharing her lunchtime counter-service experience at Be our Guest Restaurant. We love her honest take on things at the Magic Kingdom’s newest restaurant. To read a Be Our Guest Restaurant Dinner Review, click here.

I have been lucky enough to walk through the Beauty and the Beast-themed Be Our Guest Restaurant a few times since “Dress Rehearsals” first began for New Fantasyland. Although with each visit, even though I saw a bit more of the space, I was still missing out on seeing the two additional dining rooms as well as actually eating there.

That all changed today, when I got to enjoy the Be Our Guest Restaurant Quick Service lunch and venture into the West Wing and the Rose Gallery dining rooms. I was just a little bit excited!

Before we get to the food, however, let’s discuss exactly how things work at Be Our Guest for lunch.

Atmosphere and Mechanics

When you walk in to the restaurant, you are directed down the hallway to the right, flanked by three suits of armor on each side. These suits of armor are, of course, enchanted, and actually speak to each other, sing a little, snore a little, and sneeze every now and then.

For the time I was standing in there, the knights ribbing each other and talking back and forth reminded me of the main Tiki Birds joking with each other. It was really fun.

As you wait, menu screens in the center of the hallway switch to show you photos of the food you are about to order, making it much easier to [Read more…]

Sneak Peek: The Enchanted Rose Takes Center Stage at Be Our Guest Restaurant

UPDATE: Read about the Opening Date for Be Our Guest Restaurant and Reservations Info!

We have more pictures today to share with you from the inside of Be Our Guest Restaurant, coming soon to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom! Today, we take a look at a strong decor motif — the enchanted rose from Beauty and the Beast!

Enchanted Rose Mosaic Resembles a Stained Glass Window

Any fan of the film knows that the symbol of the rose plays a significant role in the telling of Beast’s story. The enchantress who first transforms Beast offers him the rose as a gift — and things tend to go downhill from there!

Decorative Statue Flanked by Swags of Roses

In honor of the rose, Walt Disney Imagineers have come up with some clever ways to include this symbol of love throughout the rich decoration of the space, which will open in time for the Holidays later this year. (Disney plans to begin accepting Advance Dining Reservations for this hotspot in late August, though there’s still no solid opening date for the restaurant later this Fall.)

When you arrive for the first time, take note of the roses carved into the backs of restaurant chairs.

Disney’s Soda Fountain Review: The Beauty and The Beast Sundae

With Beauty and the Beast 3D hitting theaters this past Friday, Disney’s Soda Fountain is celebrating with a special movie themed sundae. My family and I hit the road to Hollywood to check it out.

Beauty and the Beast Sundae Table Topper

Almond Praline Ice Cream with a hint of strawberry sauce, swirls of whipped cream, and topped with a “Luscious” candy rose was the description.

However, as soon as it arrived at the table, I noticed that the sundae also had caramel in it! SCORE!

Although I’m still a bit sad about the fact that the Soda Fountain switched from Dewar’s ice cream to Dreyer’s, the Almond Praline that was used in this sundae was quite tasty!

I am normally not a big strawberry sauce fan, but it literally was just a [Read more…]

We’re getting anxious for more news on the Be Our Guest restaurant, which we first reported about way back in September 2009.

Luckily, we now have a vague idea of when we might be able to try it out! We’ve just heard word that Be Our Guest will be opening in late 2012. And we think Advanced Dining Reservation availability might be just around the corner.

If you haven’t heard about this new spot in the updated Magic Kingdom Fantasyland yet, here are a few details…

The restaurant will be located in the Beauty and the Beast area of the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Fantasyland expansion. And the actual dining rooms will be inside the Beast’s Castle!

There will be three dining rooms in the restaurant, seating 550 people. Will you be seated in the Library/Gallery, mysterious West Wing (where the enchanted rose is kept), or the two-story Ballroom, where a snow effect in the windows will make guests feel as though they’ve stepped into the film?

Review: Cinderella’s Royal Table Breakfast

Lords and Ladies of the Kingdom, we welcome you to…Cinderella Castle!!!

Admittedly, I couldn’t wait to go back to the castle — in the middle of Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom — to dine. I’d never had breakfast here (not since I was a small fry, at least), and I was downright giddy! I don’t care how old you are, it’s just plain rad to go inside the castle where nobody else (unless they have a reservation, too, of course) gets to go. Seriously. Rad.

So I made the reservation the minute our 180-day Advanced Dining Reservation Window opened up (yep — this is one of the toughest reservations to get, so book early), gave them my credit card number (need to lock this one in with a card number — call in advance to cancel, or you’ll be charged), and started counting down the days…

There are several magical things that happen when you book an early breakfast reservation at Cinderella’s Royal Table:

  1. You get into the Magic Kingdom early. That’s right. Book your reservation for 8:00am on a day when the park doesn’t open until 9 and you get the wonderful experience of entering the park before anybody else and walking down an empty Main Street USA. You feel like a VIP. THEN, when you’re finished with your meal, you’ve already bypassed the huge crowds that gather at the entrance turnstyles at opening time, and you get first crack at Fantasyland. Very cool trick.
  2. You get to explore the castle and its [Read more…]
