Epcot Food and Wine Festival Beverage Seminar Review: Fall Flavors From Shipyard Brewing

The 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival is just around the corner, and we know that you’re just as excited about that as we are!

This year, the festival promises to be bigger and better than ever before. The event runs for 75 straight days — from August 31 until November 13.

But it will also boast more booths than ever before. Get ready to sample your way around 35 different marketplace booths, which mark 35 great years since Epcot first opened. See the full list of booths and MENUS here!

One of our favorite ways to look forward to the festival is actually to take a look back at the events from last year, and some of the best events are the low cost culinary demonstrations and beverage seminars. Join us as we head into Festival Center and take in a Beverage Seminar, featuring Shipyard Brewing!

Epcot Food and Wine Festival Beverage Seminar Featuring Shipyard Brewing

Beverage Seminars took place daily at Festival Center. We arrived for our seminar in plenty of time to be seated. It’s important to note you don’t want to show up at the last minute for your seminar; if you do, you may lose your seat, since the Information Desk will actually sell empty seats to guests looking for last minute tickets. Arrive 15-30 minutes early, just to be safe.

The Vineyard Stage -- Beverage Seminar

The Vineyard Stage — Beverage Seminar

Beverage Seminars are just that — seminars about beverages. Ha! But seriously, they run the gamut. You can learn about a myriad of wine, spirits, and beer. Presenters are normally representatives of distributing companies, or often experts from the distilleries or wineries themselves. [Read more…]

Guest Review: Florida Orange Groves Winery Seminar at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival

It’s time to start gearing up for the 2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! So please join me in welcoming Vikki Hurley-Schubert & Michelle Maskaly with a review of a past Epcot Food and Wine Festival event.

Beverage seminars were offered during the 2011 Festival, including the Florida Orange Groves activity priced at $10 per person. Now, on to the review!

I’m not a fan of wine, so when my foodie buddy, Michelle, better known as The Adirondack Chick, suggested one of the seminars at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival, I wrinkled my nose, sort of whined and said “OK, you’re the guest, let’s go”.

To say we enjoyed the Florida Orange Groves Winery session would be an understatement. So would calling it a typical festival wine tasting. When we sat down, the wines were already poured to tempt and tease us with their bright and fruity aromas.

Atmosphere and Info

From the start, the winery’s owner, Vincent Shook was engaging and fun. He incorporated stories about how they got started in the business, debunked several myths about fruit wines, and incorporated practical ways to use the beverage, even telling us what dishes he and his wife like to pair their favorites with.

We were surprised to learn that Florida has more than a [Read more…]

Review: Epcot Food and Wine Festival Xante Mixology Seminar

Eric Hay Teaching About Agave Syrup

The 2011 Epcot Food and Wine Festival is offering new Mixology Seminars taught by beverage experts!

When: Daily at 6pm
Where: Festival Center
Pricing: $12 ($10 for TiW members, AP holders, DVC members M-Th)

We attended one of the very first seminars of the festival, featuring Xante pear liqueur, which is the star of this year’s Scandinavia Booth!

The event was held in the beverage seminar area of the Festival Center (the old Wonders of Life pavilion) in Future World. We arrived, collected our tickets, and filed into the seating area with the rest of the attendees.

The room was set up with long tables, which featured individual place settings including a placemat for drinks, a list of the recipes we’d be hearing about, and a [Read more…]
