Spotted!: Cinnamon Sweet Churro Milkshake at Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Ah, Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner — this is why I lurve you. So much.

Min & Bill’s has introduced yet another killer seasonal milkshake that you and I MUST have.

If you’re scratching your head and saying, “Min and Bill’s? What? Where?” — you aren’t alone. It’s not that it’s hidden or anything; you just probably don’t expect much from this boat-as-a-food-destination.

But this often-overlooked spot can be a treasure trove of unique eats and drinks. I’ve been a fan of their Frankfurter in a Pretzel Roll (especially the Pretzel Roll part of the equation) forever.

You probably remember that the last time I was here, I tried the Artisan Mac and Cheese options. The Barbecued Pulled Pork version was a total hit; the Buffalo Chicken Macaroni & Cheese, notsomuch.

But the seasonal shake that I tried that day, the Caramel Apple Milkshake, was fantastic. And now, there’s yet another crave-worthy option here.

Check out that awesomeness that is the Cinnamon Sweet Churro Milkshake. And just in time too — ’cause I hear that [Read more…]

Review: Cotton Candy Carnival Cocktail at Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama in Animal Kingdom

When you think of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you likely think of winding paths, lush greenery, and rich experiences based in the history, culture, and beauty of Africa and Asia.

Unless, of course, you’re HERE…

It’s also where you can find some traditional carnival treats, like cotton candy and snow cones at Dino Diner, and popcorn at Corn-Ivores Popcorn Cart.

In fact, it was while stopping by Corn-Ivores that I spotted this sign for a Carnival Cocktail: a blend of lemonade, blue cotton candy, and Bacardi Black Razz Rum.

This, I had to try!

Upon placing my order, I was expecting a cotton candy-topped beverage akin to the Cotton Candy Lemonade that you can occasionally find at the Everything Pop Food Court. Nope! Here the cotton candy is blended into the mix prior to pouring. Sad face.

But at least it’s BEAUTIFUL! Don’t you just want to jump in?

Review: “The Glacier” in Animal Kingdom’s Asia

While visiting Animal Kingdom several weeks ago, I noticed something unusual on the path from Expedition Everest in Asia back to Africa’s Harambe Village. This random mini bar had popped straight-up out of nowhere!

I had to check it out because, even though it’s just a small, portable stand, the cloth decoration covering it is detailed and eye-catching, much like just about everything else in Animal Kingdom.

The menu is small, simple, and custom made for those 21-and-over, with two mixed drinks (The Glacier and Kali River Tea) and two beers (Kingfisher Premium Lager and Singha) to choose from.

On my most recent trip I decided to give this new spot a quick stop. With the FL heat really kicking in, how could I go wrong with something called The Glacier?

The Glacier

The Glacier

The Glacier is a pretty simple beverage, really: lemonade mixed with raspberry vodka. The sign mentioned the drink being blended — which to me always means frozen, like a blended margarita. But there is no blender in sight at this tiny kiosk, so in this case “blended” just means mixed and served on the rocks at the moment. (This may change at any time.)

Review: NEW Jiminy Cricket’s Slush at Magic Kingdom’s Pinocchio Village Haus

We have another cool find to show you today from Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom!

We just reported on some killer Bacon Cheeseburger Mac & Cheese from right across the way at Friar’s Nook.

Well, today, we’re heading to the other side of the Carousel to sample a brand new slush at Pinocchio Village Haus. Big thanks to our friend Joey Beyer for letting us know about this one!

Jiminy Cricket’s Slush

Yesterday, we braved the plummeting Florida temperatures and headed to Old Fantasyland (Classic Fantasyland?) to try a new addition to the Disney Slush Family — Jiminy Cricket’s Slush! (Don’t worry about the cold…we hear it will be perfect slush-enjoying weather again by the weekend!)

But back to the beverage at hand. It appears on the menu placards at each ordering station. And this is the perfect place for this particular slush. After all, Jiminy Cricket is Pinnochio’s trusty sidekick. :-)

The description sounded…well…interesting. The Mango-Blue Raspberry Slush is served with a topping of Whipped Cream and “Fruit Syrup.” Not sure what the “fruit” is, but we were intrigued.

And slush + whipped cream reminded me of the Orange Slush at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe over in Tomorrowland.

I apologize for the weird lighting and flash-iness going on in these pics — it gets dark fast in January! But we just had to try this one for you guys.

Review: Frozen Grapefruit Margarita Disney’s Boardwalk Resort

Thanks to reader (and fellow margarita fan) Tricia, we have a new margarita to add to our Disney Margarita Gallery! This concoction was recently found at Boardwalk Joe’s. Take it away, Tricia!

We saw the sign for the Margaritas and had to stop! Boardwalk Joe’s is always a good stop for a pre-Mexico margarita when we walk from Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Epcot.

We enjoy going for one of the seasonal drinks (i.e. Caramel Apple Margarita) so we were looking forward to trying the Grapefruit Margarita.

BoardWalk Joe Margarita

I am not someone who loves very sweet drinks, so Grapefruit was right up my alley! It tasted just like you were drinking frozen Ruby red grapefruit juice; it was tart with just a little sweetness.

Wonderful for a hot July day at Disney.

And if this margarita is not your thing, they were also offering [Read more…]

Happy Hour: Caramel Apple Margarita

Over on the Boardwalk in Walt Disney World, there’s a new sweet-n-sour drink to enjoy!

The Caramel Apple Margarita caught my eye at Boardwalk Joe’s, and though I don’t like sweet drinks, the promise of Sour Apple Pucker and Sweet and Sour made me think it might not be too bad…

Boardwalk Joe's

Boardwalk Joe's Menu

…and it wasn’t! I really enjoyed the sour apple flavor of the margarita, and the caramel apple syrup provided just enough sweetness to cut that flavor a bit. I wouldn’t recommend sucking down a bunch of that caramel syrup, though — that would end up being super sweet! Be sure to mix first!

Caramel Apple Margarita

All in all, I thought this was [Read more…]

Disney World Margarita Gallery

This post was originally going to be a throwdown, but I had so many margaritas I wanted to share with you that it ended up being a curated gallery for heaven’s sake!

Also, I hope you guys are willing to share with me in the comments section your favorite margaritas (and maybe even your pictures of them to add to the gallery!).

Take a look through the reviews below and let me know what I’m missing! Let’s work together to make this comprehensive! :-)

Multiple Locations: Margarita Flight

Finally, if you just can’t make up your mind, head over to one of Disney World’s Mexican restaurants (they’re all run by the same company) and order a Margarita Flight! I’ve mentioned it a couple of times already here on DFB, but it’s really a great option if you’d like to try multiple different flavors.

Margarita Flight

As daily readers know, my favorites here are the Lime, Mango Blueberry, and Pineapple. Not so much with the veggies and the flowers. ;-)

You can get these at most of Disney’s Mexican food locations, including Maya Grill and Rix Lounge at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and La Hacienda de San Angel in Epcot’s World Showcase.

If you’re very, very lucky, you can also get one in my favorite place in all of Disney World — La Cava del Tequila. They are only served on certain days here.

Paradiso 37: Twisted Margarita and Regular Margarita

Paradiso 37 in Downtown Disney offers this fabulous concoction that’s half frozen sangria and half frozen margarita. Yes please! They call it the Twisted Margarita…

Twisted Margarita -- half sangria half margarita

Their classic margarita is fantastic — and just about the farthest thing from watered down you can get. Boasted as their famous Souza margarita, the Paradiso 37 lived up to its accolades!

High Octane Refreshments: Stoplight Margarita

Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this little outdoor bar has quite a few offerings. Now I expected this Stoplight margarita to be the same high-alcohol, low-flavor type that we see at the Epcot Margarita kiosk (see below). But boy was I wrong!! After years of fiesta margaritas in Epcot, this was a breath of fresh air!

Mixer-mass-produced, yes — flavorless, no! I loved the mix of melon, strawberry, and lime flavors in this frozen drink. Kudos, High Octane Refreshments!

La Hacienda de San Angel: Orange Mango Fire Margarita

Disney’s Famous Blue Glow-tini

While you can find those snazzy glow-cubes all over Disney parks these days, the signature “Glow-tini” is the one light-up drink you know you can find pretty much everywhere. Packing quite a punch with Citrus Vodka, Peach Schnapps, Blue Curacao, Pineapple Juice, and occasionally some Sweet and Sour, the Glow-tini may look like a weak cocktail, but it could really knock your socks off!

I was lucky enough to have one of these radiant drinks on a visit to the [Read more…]
