Three Must-Try Disney Pies!

GUESS WHAT!!!! It’s NATIONAL PIE DAY!!!!

Today, in honor of this most momentous occasion, we couldn’t resist sharing with you a few of our very favorites. Whether they inspire you to bake a pie of your own, or plan a trip and let Disney do the baking for you — well, you’re welcome.

1. Peanut Butter, Banana, and Candied Bacon Pie From Boardwalk Bakery

So many truly wonderful things have come out of BoardWalk Bakery since it reopened after a major renovation last year.

While some classics remain, others, like the Cheesecake Brownie, received makeovers as well. But the real story are the amazing newcomers to the menu! One of my favorites, hands down, is the Peanut Butter, Banana, and Candied Bacon Pie.

The tart starts with a Chocolate Short Dough Crust. Peanut Butter is introduced to the party via the Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Filling, which is pie poetry. Because as much as I love rich peanut butter filling, this lighter approach is killer.

This sweet and salty goodness is wrapped up in a Chocolate Glaze. Add to that a little mound of creamy Banana Topping, and a sprinkling of Candied Bacon, and you’ve got a winner!

2. Lobster and Scallop Fisherman’s Pie From the Epcot Food and Wine Festival

Many of the pies that stand out from the crowd at Disney are savory rather than sweet. Case in point: the beloved Lobster and Seafood Fisherman’s Pie from the Ireland Marketplace Booth at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival!

Disney Recipe: Mousse au Chocolat from Boulangerie Patisserie Les Halles

Now, see? I write ONE little post about my favorite Disney Park restaurants, and suddenly I’m craving all of my favorites from Walt Disney World!

After answering the question What is your favorite restaurant in each park?, suddenly I’m dreaming of allllll the other places I’d eat today in Walt Disney World if I could!

And since I can’t, it’s time to drag out the recipes! Today we have something fairly easy, but with a big WOW factor — Mousse au Chocolat from Boulangerie Patisserie Les Halles in Epcot’s France Pavilion.

Disney Throwback Recipe: Napoleon from Epcot’s Boulangerie Patisserie

Today, I’m feeling a little nostalgic for some of my favorites from the OLD Boulangerie Patisserie in Epcot’s France Pavilion.

Sure, the new and improved Boulangerie Patisserie Les Halles, with its expanded counter and indoor seating, is super nice! And the pastries and other offerings are pretty delicious.

Still, every once in awhile, I get a craving for something that’s been tweaked right out of existence, like the classic Napoleon that used to be one of the Boulangerie Patisserie’s hallmark pastries.

If you enjoy this delicacy as well, I have great news: with a few steps, you can replicate the awesomeness at home!

Recipe: Creamy Lobster Soup from Disney World

It’s chilly, well, just about everywhere today! So it seems like the perfect time to share the recipe for an amazing soup!

How about a rich, creamy soup featuring the luxury of lobster? Yeah? Well, you have just enough time to run out to the store and pick up the ingredients! ;-)

Today, we’re featuring Creamy Lobster Soup from Epcot’s Coral Reef Restaurant. And the beauty of making it yourself — you can add more lobster, or even crab and shrimp if you’d like!

This one’s a little complicated, but nothing you can’t handle on a wintry Saturday!

Epcot Food and Wine Festival Recipe: Mac n’ Cheese Bundles from Chef Carla Hall

The Epcot Food and Wine Festival has come to close, but there was one recipe that I simply couldn’t get out of my head!

Disney Recipe: Peanut Butter, Banana, and Candied Bacon Pie From the Boardwalk Bakery

And now…a recipe for a super-interesting new dessert in Disney World!

When the brand new BoardWalk Bakery reopened earlier this year, we were there bright and early on the very first morning to bring you a full account of what was new, and what was returning.

And while we found many brand new things to love, like the Lemon Meringue Tart (sigh), one of our top pics was the Peanut Butter, Banana, and Candied Bacon Pie!

Sounds pretty keen, doesn’t it?

Disney Recipe: Nudel Gratin from Epcot’s Germany Pavilion

It’s time for another delicious Disney recipe! And this one is seriously a MUST-TRY for any cheese addicts out there.

When it comes to Eating Around the World, an awesome family destination is the Germany Pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase. Their Biergarten Restaurant will trick you into thinking you’ve hopped a plane for Bavaria.

And a bounty of brand new delights await you if you haven’t been to Sommerfest, their counter service spot, in a while.

One of my favorite dishes on the Biergarten buffet is the amazing Nudel Gratin. This is one of the best versions of macaroni and cheese that I’ve ever tasted in my life.

So when it popped up on the Sommerfest menu, we had to try it.

But even better — now, I can make it between trips to Walt Disney World, thanks to this recipe! I know what we’re having for dinner tonight! :-)
