Disney Food Pics of the Week: Ice Cream Sandwiches!

It’s no secret — we are BIG fans of Disney Ice Cream Sammies around here! And judging from some of the supercalifragilistic — well, you get my drift — pics that YOU have posted on Disney Food Blog Photo Extravaganza, you are, too! There are so many kinds of ice cream sandwiches to choose from!

Today, we’re sharing some of your crave-inducing photos as a thank you! for all of our readers who continue to share your great Disney food experiences on our Flickr page, Disney Food Blog Photo Extravaganza. Let’s see what’s new!

In short order, L’Artisan des Glaces in Epcot’s France Pavilion has become one of our favorite snack spots. It’s only been open since last year, but we can’t make it around World Showcase Lagoon without some of their ice cream, churned from scratch right on the premises!

Their custom made Pressed Brioche Ice Cream Sandwiches are some of our favorite hot-meets-cold treats!

Fancy, new options are always awesome. But I love to throw in a classic item, too, while I’m snacking my way through the parks. And some days, you just can’t beat a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Sandwich!

One of my favorite things about these treats? You can find them almost anywhere at Disney. Whether you’re in the parks or resorts…Disney World or Disneyland…you can always find this deliciously simple treat.

Snack Series: Mickey Gingerbread Cookie

If you’re like me, you typically reserve gingerbread treats for the end of the year. I simply can’t disassociate the fragrance and taste of gingerbread from all-things-Holidays.

I look forward each November to the Gingerbread Cupcake at Hollywood Studios in the same way I look forward to making gingerbread treats in my own home throughout December. (Okay, so they’re the pre-made/pre-cut cookies that you just have to warm up in the oven… that counts, right?)

BUT, if you want access to delicious gingerbread all year round…you’ve got it — in the form of the Mickey Gingerbread Cookie!

You’ll often find this little guy in bakery cases across Disney World. But I’ve had the best luck at Sweet Spells and Writer’s Stop in Hollywood Studios, Goofy’s Candy Co. in Downtown Disney, and Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Confectionery, which is where I grabbed mine.

The composition is simple: a gingerbread cookie with the signature ears dipped in milk chocolate, with two white chocolate candy buttons to spiffy up the ol’ outfit. To be honest, he looks more like a “Mickey Fan Gingerbread” wearing an ear hat as opposed to a “Mickey Gingerbread” to me, but we’ll let that slide, since he looks cute as a traditional Gingerbread Man either way!

Review: Birthday Cake Ice Cream (!!!) Cookie Sandwich at Disney World’s Sleepy Hollow Refreshments

Check it out!

I was wandering Magic Kingdom last Friday (on my way to my Be Our Guest Restaurant FastPass+ lunch — more on that soon!), and I noticed something…celebratory…at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square.

A new waffle sandwich? No. A change to the funnel cakes? Nope.

What I spotted was this…

Cake Pops have taken the world by storm over the last couple of years, it seems. So, of course, it didn’t take too long for a Disney version to pop up! Ha! Get it? These normally come with marshmallow ears, and the colors are gorg!

Cafe Orleans in Disneyland is one of my favorite stops for a delicious, Cajun-inspired meal. And I always leave room for Mickey Shaped Beignets, which come with amazing Raspberry and Vanilla Dipping Sauces here.

Review: Strawberry Oat Bar at Main Street Confectionery

What’s your very first treat stop after you enter Magic Kingdom? Do you head straight to Main Street Bakery for a cuppa joe, or do you take in a few attractions while patiently awaiting a midday hot dog at Casey’s Corner?

Maybe you prefer to start the day at Magic Kingdom’s premiere sweet stop, the Main Street Confectionery.

Let’s say your traveling buddy’s tradition is to grab a Mickey Krispy Treat first thing in the morning (hey, it IS made of cereal!), but you’re in the mood for something a little more breakfast-y.

Well, you may be able to find something in that beautiful bakery case after all: a Strawberry Oat Bar with Smuckers Jelly.

Disney Recipe from the Vault: Cinnamon Rolls from Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom

Ahhhhh. cinnamon rolls. How I love thee. You are the undisputed Breakfast of Champions. And the best of the lot, in my opinion, were the ones available at Pre-Starbucks Main Street Bakery in the old days.

Now, I’m not jumping on Starbucks. I know that lots and lots and lots of you are super happy the Siren has moved into Main Street Bakery. But…well…I mean, just look at this.

And I know that the cinnamon rolls at Gaston’s Tavern in New Fantasyland are supposed to be the same. Well. Okay. Whatever you say, Disney.

But whatever the reason, these are still my favorite. And I do wish you could still get them — and all those scoops of extra icing! Yum! Well, no matter. Because we have the recipe! And knowledge is power.

New!: Italian Spiced (and more!) Roasted Corn at Liberty Square Market

It’s funny: Liberty Square Market is smack dab in the middle of Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square. And yet, somehow it remains something of a hidden gem. I’m referring to the structure itself, and also its food offerings. You never know what you might find at Liberty Square Market.

Liberty Square Market

Liberty Square Market

Well, that’s not entirely true. You do always know you’ll find lots of grab-n-go options, like bagged chips and whole fruit. And you’ll find them in a pretty cool setting! But there are always a few surprises here, too! Let’s check out a few of the details.

Atmosphere

There is a lot of charm packed in this not-so-huge space. And all of it perfectly complements its Liberty Square surroundings, from the open-air building…

I like the barrels of Mead, Ale, Grog, and potatoes! (Please note: Liberty Square Market sells neither mead, nor ale, nor grog ;D) . It does, however, sell potatoes! More on that in a few…)

My very favorite is the cart full of chips. I like to think this was how the Founding Fathers picked up their Doritos and Cheetos after a long morning of drafting Constitutions and what-not. You know.

Disney Recipe: Sticky Toffee Pudding from Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room in Epcot’s UK Pavilion

It continues to be be chilly out there, guys!

And I don’t know about you, but when it’s cold like this, all I want is some comfort food!

One of my favorite homestyle desserts in all of Epcot is Sticky Toffee Pudding, which you’ll find at the Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room, located in the UK Pavilion of World Showcase in Epcot.

This new British classic features a cake that is very moist in the British “pudding” tradition. It’s topped with the combo of Butter-Rum and Vanilla Custard Sauces, making for a sweet ending that’s hard to resist!
