Photo Tour and Review: Wind and Waves Now Open at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

Disney’s Vero Beach Resort has been undergoing extensive renovations. And recently, Disney Food Blog was invited to see everything that’s happening there.

The resort is located on Florida’s East Coast, just south of the Cocoa Beach area. If you’re driving there after a stay at Walt Disney World, it will take you a little less than two hours to get there. When I arrived, I was surprised by the charming and relatively small size of the resort. I think I’ve grown accustomed to sprawling WDW resort complexes! The lobby, with its central courtyard and atrium, reminded me of a beachy Grand Floridian.

While we were waiting for lunch at the resort’s restaurant, Wind and Waves Grill, to begin, I decided to take a look around. Come along with me on the tour. [Read more…]

News and Review: Pineapple Cotton Candy at Disneyland’s California Adventure

You know how we feel about Dole Whip. It’s a love/love relationship. And Dole Whip loves us back by being so delicious.

So we were pretty excited when we discovered Pineapple-Flavored Cotton Candy at Disney California Adventure while there for the DCA Food and Wine Festival. (You’ll recognize Pineapple-Flavored Cotton Candy by the white and pale yellow stripes.)

Of course, like any cotton candy, it’s just sweet. Super sweet. But this version also has a bit of a pineapple flavor.

Guest Review: Cross-Country Disney Day — Iconic Treats from Six Disney Parks in One Day

Wow!!! Guest author (and an awesome friend who always sends me the best photos of Disney food!) Lori Fries, takes us on a whirlwind, coast-to-coast tour of six parks in one day. Let’s see what food she sampled!

If you are like me, you love BOTH Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. I achieved my top item on my bucket-list and went to all 6 parks — four in Disney World and two in Disneyland — on the same day!

Six Parks, One Day Treats

Six Parks, One Day Treats

Picking one snack in each park brings with it a unique set of challenges. For the first time in modern memory, I didn’t want to go to a park and pick what I felt like eating at the time. Seasonal treats have always held a special place on my Must Do Disney Food List, but I wanted to go with iconic treats.

There is an entirely different set of things I love to eat on both coasts. I could go to Epcot and fill my stomach around World Showcase. My trip was even during the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival! That is a different challenge.

Would I pick things only served on a stick to make an easy getaway to the next destination? Nope. That would rule out some classics like the Mickey pretzel.

Here is what I did. My first stop was Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Animal Kingdom

Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar
To me, vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate in the shape of Mickey Mouse’s silhouette screams Disney snack at its finest.
You can find them at ice cream carts and restaurants throughout the parks in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Not only can you get them from all the parks but all the resorts as well. I also knew that the carts are opened before the official park opening.

News: Dole Whip Now Available at Disney Springs Marketplace Snacks

I don’t know about you, but I can NOT get enough Dole Whip!

You know about the main places to get the Disney Cult Classic Snack in the Parks. Find it at Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom and Tiki Juice Bar in Disneyland. The other classic spot to enjoy this refreshing treat is Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (and now at the Coffee House in Disneyland Hotel — but more on that later!).

PLUS, in the past couple of years, Dole Whip — sometimes called Pineapple Soft Serve — has popped up at Epcot during the Flower and Garden Festival as well as the Food and Wine Festival. And it seems to be a mainstay on the menu at Disney’s Animal Kingdom these days, too. Find it at Tamu Tamu Refreshments. [Read more…]
