Guest Review: Tortilla Jo’s at Disneyland

Bienvenidos once again to intrepid DFB reporter Shayne Newell, who brings us a guest review of Tortilla Jo’s in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney district.

Tortilla Jo's entrance

We recently celebrated my husband’s 40th birthday at the Disneyland Resort. We are from Texas, so we are always hesitant about eating Mexican food outside of our home state. However, we had heard good things about Tortilla Jo’s here on the Disney Food Blog, so we decided to give it a try.

Atmosphere

The sign near the hostess stand at Tortilla Jo’s reads, “Bienvenidos, Mi Casa es Su Casa,” which translates to “Welcome, My House is Your House.” We had an early lunch reservation at 11:30 a.m., so the restaurant was practically empty when we arrived.

Nonetheless, the atmosphere of the waiting area felt homey, with brightly colored tiles, ceramic pottery, wooden furniture, and lots of [Read more…]

Dining in Disneyland: Mother’s Day Brunch at Catal

It may be a little last minute, but if you are in the Disneyland area and have no Mother’s Day plans for mom, take her to the Downtown Disney District for brunch.

Catal is offering a special Mother’s Day Brunch that will be served from 10:00am to 3:00 pm.  The menu offerings look amazing.  It’s a three course meal with an option for $7 bottomless “MOM-osas!”

Pricing is $40 for adults & $12.95 for children under 10.  If you are an annual passholder, don’t forget to use your AP for an extra dining discount.

If you’ve never dined at Catal, I can assure you that you will love it.  Check out our dinner review here.

Dining in Disneyland: Tortilla Jo’s Taqueria in Downtown Disney

Dining in Disneyland columnist Heather Sievers spices things up at Tortilla Jo’s Taqueria in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney district!

When you’re in the mood for Mexican and don’t have the time or budget for a full sit down restaurant meal, the small  Taqueria outside of Tortilla Jo’s is the perfect dining solution.  My family and I LOVE Tortilla Jo’s, however, a meal inside the “regular” restaurant takes a minimum of one hour (worth it if you have the time) and that’s with a reservation or without a wait.

Tortilla Jo's Taqueria

The colorful Taqueria can not be missed as you are walking through Downtown Disney.  It is located directly across from Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen, closer to the hotels than the parks.  Their outdoor-only seating consists of [Read more…]
