DIY Magical Drinks: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Drink

For our “happy hour Friday” post, we’re happy to welcome back Chef BigFatPanda with a new seasonal drink recipe inspired by a great event — Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

Chef’s DIY Disney column here on the Disney Food Blog treats us to step-by-step directions to make at-home recipes that remind us of our favorite Disney destinations. His latest beverage continues a series of unique magical drinks.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Drink

Clearly this one will remind you of the holiday season! With cinnamon, ginger, and coffee flavors, I wonder if this might even taste great as a warm drink! Reminds me of a fun drink I once had at the Dawa bar during a cold, rainy, holiday season!

Kahlua, Schnapps and Vodka

Chef says, “This is a strong one with all the flavor and spice of the season! I might consider some whip cream and perhaps a candy cane hanging off the glass to dress it up in the future.”

Over ice:
1.5 oz Kahlua
1 oz of Cinnamon Schnapps
1 oz of Ginger Vodka
2.5 oz of Milk (lowfat is fine)

Friday Happy Hour: Tune-In Lounge

Every once in a while I like to take a look at a favorite secret spot, and today — in honor of Friday Happy Hour — we’re headed to Tune In Lounge.

This super-friendly lounge is tucked between 50’s Prime Time Cafe and Hollywood and Vine Restaurants in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Disney World.

While it shares its main seating area — Dad’s Living Room(s) — with the waiting area for 50’s Prime Time Cafe (con!), it has all kinds of kitschy-fabulous decor that will either remind you of your growing-up-years or your favorite episodes from early Nick at Nite (pro!).

I can highly recommend getting there early — around 11am — and taking a look around the place. With several seating areas and “living rooms” to choose from, you’ll be able to take in [Read more…]

Kungaloosh!

It’s been almost nine months since the last “curtain” on the Adventurer’s Club in Disney World’s Downtown Disney, and I figured some of us might be in withdrawal.

I don’t know where you can get Kungalooshes these days (2011 Edit: You can get ‘em at Trader Sam’s in Disneyland!), but when it’s late…and you’re lonely…you can always mix up a pitcher at home.

Well, it doesn’t HAVE to be late…and you don’t HAVE to be lonely…:

Kungaloosh Recipe

1 cup Daily’s Strawberry Daiquiri Mix
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum
1/4 cup blackberry brandy

Toss it in a blender with enough ice to make it slushy, or serve over ice.

Kungaloosh Old Style from Trader Sam's in Disneyland

This recipe is from All Ears Net, and it’s listed as the recipe used from about the year 2000 forward. (It’s certainly the one I remember.)
