It’s that time of year again, Epcot Food and Wine Festival Fans!

You know that here at DFB we pride ourselves on reporting Epcot Food and Wine Festival Info just as soon as we have it! And today, we’re sharing with you a look at the VERY FIRST artists you can expect to return for the 2017 Eat to the Beat concert series!

Just in case you’re new to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, lemme tell you a little about what all this means. Eat to the Beat is a concert series that takes place during the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, which runs this year from August 31-November 13. The series features musical acts from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s each year, and concerts take place most evenings of the Festival.

Since this partial list is preliminary, be sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for additions and/or changes to the schedule! We will bring you all the latest news first!

Eat to the Beat concerts are performed three times per evening, so you have three opportunities every night to see your favorite acts — at 5:30PM, 6:45PM, and 8:00PM.

We’ll be updating our Eat to the Beat Schedule Page as soon as we have more bands confirmed!

All concerts take place in the American Gardens Theater at Epcot’s America Pavilion. Concerts are “free” — included in the price of your Epcot admission!

Lots of Festival goers plan their trips around which bands will be playing, so we’re pretty serious about bringing you news of bands and and dates as soon as we get our hands on them! Check back with our 2017 Eat to the Beat Concert schedule frequently to see updates.

Review: 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It! Pastry Making Workshop

It’s high time for more 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival fun!

Once again, we’re going beyond the Marketplace Booths for a Special Event that is new to the Festival this year: Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It! Hands-On Workshops. Similar to the Festival’s Culinary Demonstrations and Beverage Seminars, this new offering takes place daily in the Festival Center. However, the Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It! sessions offer an interactive element unique to this Special Event where participants can take tips directly from leaders in the culinary industry.

The choice of topics is extensive, ranging from forming sushi rolls to pasta making and vodka tasting to pumpkin decorating (and beyond — check out the full list of options here). We attended The Art of Pastry Making with Erin McKenna.

You might be familiar with Erin McKenna as the founder of Babycakes or the owner of Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC in Disney Springs (or even her shops in New York and Los Angeles). If so, then you know that her focus is on creating tasty vegan and gluten-free goods. Since baking gluten-free items is not something I have previously attempted, I thought this would be a great opportunity to learn something new!

It’s here! I can hardly believe it, but the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival is finally underway!

The fun officially kicked off on September 14 and runs until November 14. That’s more than eight weeks of savoring all that this special event has to offer! And we had so much fun eating and drinking along the Promenade to discover our Best of the Fest dishes and drinks to recommend!

Epcot Food and Wine Festival Recipe: Shrimp on the Barbie from the Australia Booth

We’re still months away from the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival but it’s always fun to look back at favorite dishes from the past years!

We loved these Shrimp on the Barbie with Pepper Berry Citrus Glaze way back in 2012 and we’ve had a few reader requests for the recipe too!

Now it might be a wee bit cold in your neck of the woods for grilling outside but you can use a grill pan on the stove for this recipe and it’ll be just as delicious! Plus, the pepperberry sauce is delightfully spicy so it’s the perfect dish to whip up on a cold winter day!

We love exotic-sounding dishes that are actually really easy cook, and this Shrimp on the Barbie recipe is right up our alley! The shrimp would make a great, quick appetizer for a dinner party or a spicy side dish with pasta or steak.

Let’s get cooking and throw a few shrimp on the barbie!

News! 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Offers 2 Full Months of Delicious This Year!

The countdown is ON for September 14, 2016. Why? Because THAT’S the day the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival begins!

But it gets even better… because this year, the Festival has been extended to run 62 days. It won’t wrap up until November 14th. That means TWO FULL MONTHS of the Food and Wine Festival! (NOTE: The festival usually begins on a Friday, so the fact that it’s starting on a Wednesday this year is…weird. Disney Holiday Recipe: Pumpkin Mousse Trifle with Cranberries and Apricot-Orange Sauce

When it comes to holiday dessert, the more pies the better we say!

Of course, as much as we love pie, it’s always fun to bring a new dessert to the table – especially at the holidays! And today we have the perfect holiday dessert to share with you.

This Pumpkin Mousse Trifle with Cranberries and Apricot Orange Sauce was featured at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival a few years ago, and we really enjoyed it.

Pumpkin Mousse with Ocean Spray Craisins and Orange Sauce

Pumpkin Mousse with Ocean Spray Craisins and Orange Sauce

The recipe has a few steps, but it’s worth a little extra time in the kitchen!

Pumpkin Mousse Trifle with Cranberries and Apricot Orange Sauce

Serves 6 to 8

Struesel

1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons old-fashioned oats
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
5 tablespoons butter, melted

Apricot-Orange Sauce
1/2 cup apricot jam
1/4 cup orange juice

Pumpkin Mousse
1 egg yolk or 1/4 cup pasteurized egg yolks
3/4 cup canned pumpkin pie filling
3/4 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup heavy cream

Other ingredients:
Store-bought spice cake mix, prepared per package directions and cooled.
1/2 cup Ocean Spray Craisins

Instructions

For Streusel:

1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Line a sheet pan with foil and set aside.

2. Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and sugar in a medium bowl. Add melted butter and stir until mixture is crumbly.

3. Pour onto prepared sheet pan and bake 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

4. Set aside to cool. Crumble into small pieces.

For Orange Sauce:

Combine apricot jam and orange juice in a medium bowl. Whisk together until smooth.

For Pumpkin Mousse:

1. Whisk egg yolk into pumpkin pie filling. Melt white chocolate chips in microwave or using a double boiler. Whisk melted chocolate chips into the pumpkin mixture.

2. Whip heavy cream to medium peaks. Gently fold whipped cream into pumpkin mixture.

To serve:

1. Cut spice cake into cubes. Place a dollop of mousse at the bottom of a serving dish. Top with cranberries and a drizzle of sauce.

2. Place a few cubes of cake over the mousse. Top with another layer of mousse, cranberries and sauce, then top with streusel.
