We love the epically-themed world that is Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park. From the street lights to the vistas of Radiator Springs to the neon, it’s totally immersive and totally fun.
While visiting Cars Land at Disney California Adventure, fuel up at Flo’s V8 Cafe. It’s one of our favorite spots for atmosphere dining in Disneyland Resort.
Popular dishes in the past have included the Veggie Tater Bake, Rotisserie Chicken, and Homemade Pies.
Now, new dishes have joined the race for first place!
Replacing the pork loin, Flo’s has introduced barbecued pork ribs, with house-made Coca-Cola barbecue sauce served with creamy mashed potatoes (or a side of mac and cheese) and a side of crisp slaw.
Also in the running — a shaved roast beef and cheddar sandwich on a garlic-chive bun topped with sweet, caramelized onions, and kicky horseradish aioli with a side of slaw.
Or perhaps you’d like to try the turkey dip on a potato grinder roll. It’s served with provolone cheese and turkey au jus for dipping, plus a side of pasta salad.
The Citrus Turkey Salad is now made with [Read more…]
We are back in Disneyland today with another fun look at Flo’s V-8 Cafe in Disney California Adventure!
This diner is a throwback to all that was good and cool about eating while on the Great American Roadtrip, when Route 66 was in its heyday. And since it opened, Flo’s has quickly become a favorite for its incredible themeing and terrific eats.
While breakfast is phasing out at Flo’s, we recently had the chance to take in lunch here as well, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it! Read on for all the details and lots of pics…
Visiting Flo’s anytime of the day is a treat, because there’s just so much rich detail to experience. But we especially love the views at night, when the whole place is decked out in neon lights.
There’s some fun lighting inside, too! The entrance, which is a rotunda of sorts, features soft lights that change colors. I caught this pic when the room was decked out in bubble gum pink. Check out the cool chandelier!
One thing to note about Flo’s — it’s enormous! And the seating areas all have different themeing, so be sure to schedule a little extra time for this lunch stop if checking out incredible Disney detail is something that you enjoy.
The restaurant is actually much larger than it looks from the outside. That’s because part of the seating area is themed as a car clinic — both inside and out. Here’s the outside view.
And here’s the inside!
Don’t you love the X-ray machine? It’s one of my favorite imagineering touches.
Much of the front seating section is decorated with touches that are a throwback to the 1950s, and a lot of the memorabilia centers around Flo — a member of the illustrious Motorama Girls.
The story goes that Flo gave up her glamorous career to settle down in Radiator Springs, where she opened up the coolest diner, ever.
The Mechanic Room is a tribute to Doc Hudson’s glory days as a championship racer. With rich details like dark wood and leather-esque booths, it has a more [Read more…]

Since it’s one of my new favorite places to grab a quick lunch/dinner at Disney California Adventure, I figured I should probably head over to Flo’s V-8 Cafe to try out some breakfast options as well. I am happy to report that it didn’t disappoint!
As you walk into Flo’s, you are handed a breakfast menu that includes photos. I actually love that fact that they include pictures of the meals. It makes it so easy to order, especially when you’ve got little ones with you.
I had no problem “selling” the waffles to my boys. My whole family was with me on this visit, so we made sure to order just about everything on the breakfast menu!
When you get up to the counter to order, there’s also a large menu board.
And I love the juke box and diner style clock that sits there as well…
This is all of the [Read more…]
Welcome back guest author Carrie Hayward with a review of breakfast and lunch at Flo’s V-8 Cafe in Cars Land, Disney California Adventure!
This Spring we got to attend an Annual Passholder preview of Cars Land. Everything was open, including new counter-service restaurant Flo’s V-8 Cafe.
We are usually pretty disappointed by the counter-service options at Disney California Adventure and Disneyland (Jolly Holiday Bakery excepted!), but we waited in the 20-minute line with our hopes high. Who wouldn’t want to eat in a life-size replica of the stylish drive-in from Cars?
Flo’s is HUGE inside, with four dining rooms.
The restaurant actually extends halfway down the block, but one wing is themed to an auto clinic [Read more…]
A few weeks ago, I was able to get a media sneak peek and food preview of Cars Land.
While we were there, every single attendee was in awe of its landscape, then we were blown away even more when we were led into Flo’s V8 Cafe for a tasting!
At that time, no photos were allowed. But, guess what? After 5 years, the time has come, the walls are down, and Flo’s is open for business!
Flo’s V8 Cafe was modeled after a Route 66 stop called Midpoint Cafe in Midpoint, Texas.
And the backstory in Cars Land is that Flo’s caters to the growing number of Route 66 visitors and race fans coming to Radiator Springs, with a “showroom” dining area that overlooks the Radiator Springs Racers attraction. This is one of the amazing views…
The minute you walk into Flo’s, you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. To me, it felt like the scene in Back to the Future when Marty enters the soda fountain to find his dad, George McFly sitting there.
You’re in complete awe of the music, the colors, the decor; everything. Flo’s is, in fact, so gorgeous that they have a Photo Pass photographer set up with a tripod out front to take pictures of people in front of the restaurant!
Here’s some of the fun outside “decor” that makes Flo’s so much fun to [Read more…]
Today I had the pleasure of walking behind the closed off walls of Cars Land in Disney California Adventure. This brand new land in the Disneyland Resort has been under construction for years, and I couldn’t believe I was actually going to get a sneak peek…and even get to sample some of the brand new menu items that will be served there and on Buena Vista Street when they open next month!
Standing under the mountains of Ornament Valley with the Radiator Springs Racers whizzing by, I had to take a deep breath. Goosebumps on my arms, tears in my eyes. What in the world was happening to me? I’ve watched the progress of Cars Land from day one, and now, it’s nearly done.
Just weeks away from the June 15th grand opening and there I stood, inside getting a sneak peek! The only way for me to describe Cars Land is simple and true. You are IN Radiator Springs. You have stepped into Cars.
After telling myself to get it together and wishing I could take a photo, I followed the other attendees into Flo’s V8 Cafe for a sampling of the menu!
Because Flo’s is not 100% complete, photos were not allowed, the pictures you see here were from a “preview” room that we were taken to beforehand.
I’ll do my best to describe to you in detail the atmosphere of Flo’s. Flo’s is a counter service restaurant serving up breakfast, lunch & dinner. Upon entering, be sure to look up. There is a giant light fixture made of shiny tail pipes.
Flo’s caters to the growing number of Route 66 visitors and race fans coming to Radiator Springs, with a “showroom” dining area that overlooks the Radiator Springs Racers attraction. The cafe also is home to Flo’s personal memorabilia, collected during her glamorous career as a singer with the Motorama Girls.
The service area includes several walk-up kiosks (or food pods) divided by road barrier type blockades to keep you in your line. The main color of the cafe is turquoise. There is a giant juke box fixture at the counter. Two main dining rooms make up the cafe, and there is both indoor (booths & tables) and outdoor seating.
Best of all? You can’t beat the view from the dining rooms. One side features a perfect view of Sally’s Cozy Cones and the other — a breathtaking view of [Read more…]
As we get closer to the June 15, 2012 opening of the new Cars Land in Disney California Adventure, we wanted to take a look at what we know so far about the Radiator Springs’ restaurants.
After all, we’ve come along way in gathering details about these venues since our earlier reports. And while we’re not holding our collective breath, we’re still crossing our fingers that someday we’ll see an announcement for a drive-in type restaurant similar to the Sci-Fi Dine-In at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.
For now… let’s take a look at what we DO know is coming in just under two months.
Flo’s V8 Cafe
This is the hot-spot when traveling along historic Route 66! Resembling a giant air filter in Radiator Springs, Flo’s V8 Cafe will serve cuisine inspired by the Mom ‘n Pop Diners we all know and love. As a quick-service option for breakfast meals, lunch, and dinner, the cafe will also have an outdoor patio overlooking [Read more…]
