Are you and Mom spending Mother’s Day together in The Most Magical Place on Earth (Disney World) OR The Happiest Place on Earth (Disneyland)? Well, in addition to the Disney World Brunch options we’ve shared with you previously, we’ve got even more options to add, including specialty snacks and additional Brunches in Disney World, AND special meal options in Disneyland!
Sunshine Seasons will serve a Mother’s Day Dessert with raspberry mousse and lemon cake topped with a Swiss buttercream rose and fondant pearls on Mother’s Day.
But if you’re at Epcot a bit earlier, find a vanilla Mother’s Day Cupcake with raspberry white chocolate mousse and pink icing at Fountain View from May 11 – 13.
In Animal Kingdom, stop by Creature Comforts and Isle of Java for a vanilla Mother’s Day Cupcake filled with white chocolate raspberry mousse and topped with buttercream flowers.
We’ve been checking out ALL THE GINGERBREAD Displays in Disney World from the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House to the Beach Club’s Gingerbread Carousel. Today, we’re at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, and we arrived not knowing exactly what to expect.
You see, the BoardWalk’s Gingerbread Display has varied over the years. You may recall the Sweet Shoppe theme or the days-of-yore Gazebo, or even the year that Stitch took over. Last year, the BoardWalk gave the Resort’s Pastry Chefs the opportunity to create several individual gingerbread houses themed to their choosing.
But for 2017, the whole team is back in action together, and they’ve created a brand new display themed after something very near and dear to our hearts… the BoardWalk’s restaurants!

Nearly a year ago, Flying Fish reopened after a lengthy refurbishment closure. Disney Food Blog visited on the very first day that it reopened (here’s that review for reference).
While we gave full marks to the beautiful interior and excellent service, and we found some bright spots to celebrate on the revamped menu, we were frankly underwhelmed. The restaurant had abandoned long time cult favorites like their Potato Wrapped Snapper and the Char-crusted Certified Black Angus New York Strip Steak, purportedly in the name of those hot, buzzy themes of sustainability and seasonality. Fine.
But while everything was indeed fine, it was no longer special. It was no longer my favorite spot to get a last minute signature restaurant advance dining reservation and KNOW that it was going to be fabulous.
Well, we’re a year in now. And I was anxious to see what, if anything, had changed. Had they returned those amazing signature dishes to the menu? Was the menu completely different from a year ago, owing to the use of seasonal ingredients and sustainable seafood choices? Were they celebrating local?
Only one way to find out. Time to head in. [Read more…]
