If you’re planning to celebrate the holiday season at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom this year, we’ve got everything you need to make the most of this jolly holiday party!
It’s time for a very MERRY CHRISTMAS with Mickey at his own Very Merry Christmas Party!!
He’s throwing this festive bash on select nights at through December 22nd, and it’s one of my absolute favorite Magic Kingdom events EVER. I get excited just driving in and seeing the inflatable snow Mickey and Minnie over the park’s entrance gate and getting my Party wristband! [Read more…]
Welp — it’s finally happened. The Epcot Food and Wine Festival is pretty much happening year around now!
No — not really. But with this is exciting news, it kinda sorta seems like it!
I’ve loved the holiday eats, drinks, and treats that you can get during a cozy winter visit to Epcot during Holidays Around the World. In addition to enchanting stories of winter time celebrations from all over the globe, guests have also indulged in holiday specialties, like Buche de Noel in France and Sweet Tamales in Mexico. And it’s not Christmas without at least one serving of Glühwein in Germany! [Read more…]
So, today we’ve got a SUPER cute cupcake from Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!
The restaurant, located on the Concourse in the Resort, is one of my favorite stops for delicious counter service eats. It’s just a monorail ride (or quick walk) away from Magic Kingdom, making it a great option if you need a break during a busy Park day.
But they’ve also featured some truly decadent and beautiful Cupcakes throughout the years. I’m always anxious to pop in every time I’m in town to see what Chef Jeff Barnes and his creative team have come up with!
And on a recent visit, I didn’t come up empty handed when I stopped by for an afternoon snack.
The Hot Chocolate Cupcake
Well, the very last thing that you want in Florida 11 1/2 months out of the year is a steaming cup of anything. So this is a fun nod to hot chocolate without getting any of the “hot!”
It’s pretty great that you get so much description here on the sign…and it’s pretty irresistible, eh?
It’s definitely super cute, with Toasted Marshmallows on top, a Striped Chocolate Straw, Red Sprinkles, and a mound of light Chocolate Buttercream.
When I cut into it, I found [Read more…]
Happy Holidays, Everyone!
The winter holiday season is officially underway, and that can only mean one thing…Fantastic Holiday Treats!
And while I love cupcakes and cookies and such, one of my favorite ways to celebrate this time of the year are the yummo drinks that pop up at Walt Disney World!
There are so many great ones to choose from, but here are a few of my favorites. I can’t wait to have them again this year!
Hot Salted Caramel
For the last few years, a delightful little holiday kiosk has popped up in the Germany Pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase. They started by serving glühwein and a few other tasty treats. But last year, the spot opened as Prost!, and served up a myriad of treats from Karamell-Küche!
My favorite find? The Hot Salted Caramel!
When I first saw this on the menu, I assumed they meant salted caramel hot chocolate. Which would also be, you know, totally fine. But NO. They meant straight up, hot caramel, in a glass, with a pinch of salt just for fun.
And my oh my…it’s amazing. So rich that you probably won’t be able to finish it, but you’ll relish trying if you’re anything like me. I am still dreaming about this one. All of the richness of that golden, buttery Werther’s Caramel in drink form?? Sign me up!
It was so much fun checking out the delicious holiday treats at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! And the Streets of America Newsstand Holiday Eats is a great place to snag a snack or a warming beverage right before you head back to check out the Osbourne Family Lights!
If you’re ready for a little break in your day, you must try out the Spiced Eggnog. If Christmas were available in a cup, then this would definitely be in the running for the title.
After all, it’s just not Christmas without a serving of this rich, creamy treat! And spiked with [Read more…]
As you well know, one of my favorite things to do while I’m in Walt Disney World is to poke into all the little shops within the parks and resorts. I’m always finding new things! From delicious candy and take home treats to cute decor and souvenir options, who can resist?
Recently, I was on just such an expedition to the Yukon (okay, really, I was just in the Canada Pavilion), when I decided to wander through these, some of my favorite shops, once more. And you will never guess what I found!
Tim Horton’s Comes to Epcot!
If you’ve been reading for a while, you know that I originally hail from way up north. Like, “almost-in-Canada” type north. And my parents, when they aren’t traveling all over the place, still call that corner of the world home.
Well, since we’re ALMOST in Canada where they live, one of AJ’s dad’s favorite rituals when he’s home is stopping into the local Tim Horton’s for coffee and a bagel each morning. So I couldn’t wait to show you this new (to me, anyway!) display of Tim Horton’s favorites that we spied in the Canada Shops!
Right there alongside bagged candies, and beneath a selection of maple syrup, you’ll find them. Remember the Covered Bridge Potato Chips that we showed you a while back? (Ketchup-Flavored! Yum!) Well, they’re right beside those!
When I visited, there were four different beverage options. So Dad would have a great selection to choose from!
While you can’t pick up a bag of coffee for brewing back in your hotel room, there are some [Read more…]
It’s time to head back to one of my most favorite spots in all of Epcot’s World Showcase — Les Chefs de France!
Chefs de France
When this new event was announced for this year’s festival, I jumped at the chance to add it to my busy opening weekend schedule! It’s one of the lower-priced special events available, and I’m always looking for a value.
As a special bonus, the event took place before most of World Showcase was fully opened. I always love it when I can have any part of the park (mostly) all to myself.
The Parisian atmosphere of Les Chefs shines through at this new breakfast special event.
After all, if you look at the pic below, it even kind of feels like you’re in Paris, eh??
I was seated at a table looking out onto the World Showcase promenade. This event (along with most other special events at the festival these days) had assigned seating.
This is relatively new for festival events, so be prepared if you’re hoping to sit with a friend who booked separately from you!
Luckily, I got to sit with an awesome group of Disney food fans and we chatted the morning away! It was a great time!
Now, as beautiful as the morning surroundings are, I know you’re anxious to see [Read more…]
After a successful week of soft openings, Ghirardelli has “officially” opened its doors at the Disneyland Resort inside of Disney California Adventure’s Pacific Wharf area.
We were lucky enough to be invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony, where Mickey and Minnie helped welcome the park’s first independently owned and operated establishment.
First, we’ll take a peek inside and try a sundae. Then I’ll show you a very special surprise that makes this Ghirardelli location more incredible than any other in the world… (we even have a little video of what makes it so cool).
This Ghirardelli location is the first store to be built inside of a theme park (though there is a location in Downtown Disney in Orlando, that’s not, technically, a theme park). Although the cast members at Ghirardelli have had some Disney cast member training, they are actually employees of Ghirardelli and have been taught specifically by the chocolate company.
After the ribbon was cut, we were invited in to see the gorgeous new Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop!
As you enter the shop, there are menus to peruse as well as a few registers. You place your order at a register and are then sent to one of the three pick up windows where you will be handed your order.
As a “Grand Opening” guest, I was handed one of these tasty little treats!
It wasn’t easy to eat a sundae and take photos of the store at the same time, so unfortunately I had just a few bites and then got to work. My favorite thing about a Ghirardelli sundae? Definitely the [Read more…]
Walking through the merchandise section of Pooh Corner in Disneyland, I couldn’t help but be intrigued by a giant t-shirt with a scratch & sniff sticker on it. When I noticed it was a “sleepy” Eeyore with a cup of hot chocolate, I immediately assumed that the “sniff” would be chocolate — because who wants to smell Eeyore all night long?
Of course I immediately scratched and sniffed. And yes, into my nose went a hint of chocolate. The special ink used to print this shirt is infused with a chocolate scent; when you scratch it, it smells stronger. The areas that were the most potent were the cocoa jar and Eeyore’s mug. How do I know? because I tested out the [Read more…]
I’m excited to welcome Guest Reviewer Holly Burtchaell from Random Cravings Blog with a fun review of treats found at this year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Walt Disney World! Warning: This read is sugar-sweet!
Although Mr. Random and I have clocked too many trips to Disney World to count, somehow, neither of us has ever experienced Christmas at the Happiest Place on Earth. Luckily, that all changed last week, when we spent an entire week immersed in Disney Christmas happiness. In fact, this year’s very first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) was also our very first time at that event!
I quickly learned that in addition to being about the Christmas parade, the special fireworks, and the rare character appearances, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is also filled with yummy holiday treats!
Free Eats at MVMCP
Included with your ticket to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are complimentary cookies and hot cocoa, along with healthier options of apple slices and apple juice. These treats were handed out at several locations around the Magic Kingdom…just follow the signs!
This year’s cookies were big, soft, delicious snickerdoodles. The apple slices were [Read more…]
