Pixar, Pixar, Pixar: you’re keeping us busy here at the DFB! With the fabulous grand opening of Pixar Pier at Disneyland Resort and the barely-out-of-the-box Toy Story Land that just opened at Walt Disney World, we’re on Pixar overload (and WE LOVE IT).
Recently, we let you know that Cove Bar’s beloved Mickey’s Fun Wheel cocktail is now available at Alfresco Tasting Terrace (FYI — Neverland Tea and Black Pearl are available now, too!) — and now we’re helping ourselves to some tasty little appetizers at this relaxing and beautiful lounge in Disney California Adventure Park.
When DCA’s Cove Bar closed on January 8 as part of Paradise Pier’s transition to Pixar Pier, fans of the bar’s innovative (and beautiful) drinks (including the fun secret menu!) lamented the loss of this popular spot. What would become of their technicolor concoctions?

Here at Rita’s you can get drinks or drinks. And some chips maybe.
Choose from regular Lemon-Lime or Strawberry Margaritas, or opt for the Grand, which comes with a “splash of liqueur” and a slightly higher price tag.
There’s also a non-alcoholic version available called the Tropicool.
If you absolutely must have something to soak up that tequila, there are a few varieties of chips available.

Today, we’re heading over for a light lunch and a treat at one of my favorite stops in Disneyland, Pacific Wharf Cafe at Disney California Adventure in Disneyland Resort!
Bread, bread bowls, soup, and baked goodies are the name of the game here, so bring your carb-loving gene! Let’s head in to to see what tempting options we can find.
Taking its theme from the famed Cannery Row in Monterrey, CA, Pacific Wharf Cafe is owned and operated by San Francisco’s Boudin Bakery. Imagineers have done a great job creating a space with the look and feel of the unique area.
The Boudin Bakery is San Francisco’s oldest company — it’s been in business without interruption since 1849. They still use many of the original old world techniques, and their bread bowls are legendary. They’ve decorated the cafe with some fun bread creations — you can even get a bread Mickey!
Serving counter service breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this is a great go-to spot if you haven’t made plans in advance for eating and you find yourself in need of a meal or snack.
Head inside the open and airy space to order. You’ll only find the counter and queue area once inside; all the seating is outside of the cafe.

This spot might elicit a “wha?!? where’s that?!?” reaction for some since it really doesn’t get its share of the spotlight. But I really enjoy heading to the Lucky Fortune Cookery once in a while when I’m in Disney California Adventure!
The counter service location is a great thematic fit for the Pacific Wharf area of the park and offers some pretty tasty, customizable goodies for those who stumble upon it.

Atmosphere and Themeing
Lucky Fortune Cookery is teensy. The outdoor location is nearly an afterthought — or so it seems. There are three main ordering windows and just a few tables scattered around.
You’re clearly in an industrial section of town here at the Wharf, and the fun lanterns hanging from the rafters give this a sweet “downtown” vibe I think! It’s such a great way to soften an otherwise harsh space.
Tables are scarce, but don’t forget that you’re surrounded by about three other huge restaurants here at the Wharf.

Disneyland Resort restaurants will be offering unique items and special menus to share with your loved one on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2012.
The Plaza Inn will feature a Strawberry Cream Puff ($4.99), and a Valentine’s Day sugar cookie topped with red, pink, and white sprinkles will be offered at Pacific Wharf ($2.99).
Steakhouse 55‘s dinner package will cost $55 (natch!). Enjoy Strawberry and goat Cheese Spinach Salad with Candied Pecans, Rosebud Champagne Sorbet, and a Surf & Turf entree of Filet and Scallops with Lobster Mashed Potatoes and Broccolini.
For dessert, dig into a Chocolate Raspberry Tart.
At Blue Bayou, savor Roasted Muscovy duck breast, apricot pine nut stuffing, grand Marnier orange sauce, and roasted parsnip potato puree for $33.99.
While you dine in this twilit restaurant, consider the Valentine’s special dessert — Caramelized pear galette, mascarpone frangelico foam, and espresso crème anglase for $7.99.
Toast your sweetheart at Wine Country Trattoria, Alfresco Bar, or the Cove Bar in Disney California Adventure with a romantic dessert package. For $25, you’ll get two glasses of Magicale (Disney sparkling wine), 4 chocolate covered strawberries, and a single rose.

As I mentioned previously, Disney’s California Food & Wine Festival is highlighting several specialty items inspired by the festival’s “Art of Flavor” tagline and sold at counter service locations throughout the park.
Yesterday, I reviewed the pulled pork sandwich and mangia meatballs, and today I’m taking a look at the Festival Chicken Wrap and the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake.
Festival Chicken Wrap
The Festival Chicken Wrap can be found at the Bountiful Valley Farmers Market near Pacific Wharf in Disney’s California Adventure theme park. This item consists of a spinach tortilla filled with Buffalo-sauced chicken tenders, crumbled blue cheese, and diced celery.
When we received the wrap, it was ice cold and felt like it was taken directly out of the refrigerator. This was really surprising to us, as the description of a “crispy chicken strip” made us think “hot.” The chicken strip was a standard Disney chicken finger doused in Buffalo sauce. It was accompanied by what looked like fresh spinach as well as the promised blue cheese crumbles. We couldn’t find any diced celery in the wrap, so we assumed the spinach was taking its place at this point.
While we liked the overall taste of the sandwich and thought the fresh spinach was a nice touch, the cold chicken was soggy, and we couldn’t get over the feeling that it was supposed to be served warm. At least, we certainly would [Read more…]
A “new” restaurant opens tomorrow in Disney’s California Adventure! Moving into Cocina Cucamonga’s old spot on Pacific Wharf, the Lucky Fortune Cookery “offers guests the opportunity to create their own Asian Rice Bowl meals and enjoy them in an outdoor plaza.”
According to the Disneyland press release, guests will dine amid colorful surroundings, decorated with paper lanterns, cheery umbrellas, and oversized pots filled with bamboo.
The menu will highlight customized Asian Rice Bowls, which will include steamed white or brown rice, seared Asian veggies, and chicken, beef, or tofu topped with each guest’s choice of sauce: Mandarin orange, spicy Korean (based on an old family recipe from Napa Rose chef de cuisine Gloria Tae), Thai green curry, or teriyaki. Each rice bowl will be priced at $9.49, regardless of contents. Kids’ meals (teriyaki chicken and rice, fruit cup, and beverage) are available for $6.49.
