This year is going to be BIG for the Disney Parks. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is opening at Walt Disney World on August 29 and at Disneyland on May 31. Plus the all-new Skyliner transportation system will begin operating at Walt Disney World in the summer or fall! But that’s not all…
The currently posted name for the restaurant is Space 220, and applicants are informed that “Like in the real International Space Station, represent your country in this restaurant. We will recruit European candidates [whose] role will be to make the guests feel like they are in space.”
Note that the posting says that the new restaurant will be “located next to the attraction Mission to Mars.” However, later it clarifies that “new restaurant will be located between Mission Space and Test [Track] at EPCOT.” [Read more…]
Pizza by the slice — and more! — is, at long last, available in Disney Springs thanks to the arrival of Pizza Ponte!
As one third of a trio of eateries in Disney Springs, Pizza Ponte provides a fast-casual option for guests hoping to try out the Italian cuisine offered by this new group of restaurants headed by the Patina Restaurant Group. Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante (a table service restaurant) and Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar will make up the other components of the group when they open in coming weeks.
By the name, you obviously know that the headliner item is PIZZA — more specifically, Sicilian pizza served by the slice. But sandwiches, pastries, and espresso also make up the menu.
But I’ve said the word “pizza” enough by now that I’m sure everyone’s more than ready to dig into a slice, so let’s start our tour now!
Pizza Ponte is the starting point of the greater story of the business ventures of Maria and Enzo. You’ll find the new locations in The Landing, with nearest landmarks being STK Orlando and Paradiso 37 (and, of course, the VERY soon-to-be-open Edison).
In fact, you’ll enter Pizza Ponte under the sign for Maria and Enzo’s Ristorante, under the simple label of “Pizzeria.” [Read more…]
And this seems to be supported by a job posting on the Patina Group website! A posting for the position of Sous Chef in Disney Springs reveals the following:
“Four new concepts that will be connected as part of one large complex and will be introduced to Disney Springs in the Fall of 2017. Each of the concepts is housed in key locations that play an integral role in the Disney Springs origin story, such as the former airline terminal, an underground rum running tunnel, and the former electrical power plant, providing rich territory for story-telling. The locations will treasure Italian authenticity create unique cultural immersion experiences through fine cuisine, beverages, and atmosphere.” [Read more…]

Dole Whips! This week, we’re taking a look at one of our favorite Disney treats.
Shared by DFB Reader Mary: “I knew that Dole Whips were sold at the STL zoo, but this weekend was the first time I bought one there. I had the plain pineapple one while my fiance had pineapple and raspberry swirl. They were so yummy! I can’t wait to get a Dole Whip float on our trip to WDW.”

According to the permit, a new restaurant owned by the Patina Restaurant Group will take over this space. Plans include “two floors, a new dining area, kitchen [and] cast and guest restrooms.”
This space is pretty large, so we’re wondering if there will be more than just a restaurant? Fingers crossed for more entertainment to come back to Pleasure Island!
