New! Root Beer Slush in a Souvenir BOOT and Chicken Sandwich at Pecos Bill in Disney World

There are all kinds of awesome changes going on at Disney World’s Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe right now. After years of being able to get a root beer float in a souvenir boot glass at Disneyland’s Golden Horseshoe, the boot has come to Disney World!

Found only at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe counter service restaurant in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, guests can now purchase a Root Beer Slush in the souvenir glass.

The slush itself is thick and icy — definitely a “slush” consistency versus an “icee” consistency. The portion is large, and we found the root beer flavor to be mild, but present.

Review: Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe — Vegetarian Style!

We all know that Pecos Bill’s is a terrific place to grab a burger and fries, right?

But on a recent visit I really wanted to try out a few new-to-me items that I’d been hearing about: the corn on the cob, and the onion rings.

So what began as casual curiosity ended up being a completely vegetarian meal. And how did a burger joint fare as a vegetarian option? Read on…


Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe (known to many just as “Pecos Bill’s”) in the Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland is extremely popular. I would venture a guess that this dining location and Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe see the majority of the counter-service traffic in the Magic Kingdom.

Straddling Adventureland and Frontierland, the restaurant’s architecture seems to include both Caribbean and Western influences.

But the story of Pecos Bill clearly signals that the heart of this eatery is firmly planted in the Old West. The Great State of Texas, to be exact!

Review: Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe

Riding side-saddle between Adventureland and Frontierland, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe — often shortened to “Pecos Bill’s” is the place to sit for a spell (and chow down) with your posse!

From burgers to taco salads, there’s a little something for everyone here, which makes it a guest-favorite for counter-service in the Magic Kingdom!


Because guests can see the restaurant from Adventureland and Frontierland, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe looks like an old West saloon from the outside in Frontierland but has a more Caribbean appearance on the Adventureland side.

Inside, you’ll find dark woods and decor you’d expect in booming mining towns of the West. If you keep moving toward the Adventureland side of the restaurant, though, you’ll run into slightly more Caribbean decor — cobblestones, blooming flowers, and warmer stone walls. This runs opens into Tortuga Tavern next door!

But back to the old West, if you take a peek at the walls, you’ll find the story behind Pecos Bill’s (every Disney destination has a story!).

Disney Food Post Weekly Round-Up: October 11, 2009

Hi all! The top story in Disney dining this week is that Disney World is trying out a new seating system at four Magic Kingdom counter-service restaurants.

Disney has been restricting seating to groups who have already received their food, hoping to cut down on the amount of people “saving tables” while the rest of their group is still ordering food. It remains to be seen what the outcome will be. In the meantime, Robert Niles at Theme Park Insider has discussed the issue in his blog post: Pecos Bill and the Prisoner’s Dilemma.

But while that debate rages on, there’s still plenty of other great Disney food writing going on. The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival continues, brand new hotels have opened (which means brand new eating establishments!), there’s a new food spot for the Alaska cruises, and more! Here we go!

Attractions Magazine takes a look at Epcot’s Party for the Senses, including photos and a video! Haven’t had enough? Laughing Place adds their Party for the Senses photos as well! This is one event I would LOVE to attend someday.

Etckt stopped by the Food and Wine Festival to sample some dishes from the International Marketplaces. He’s an incredible photographer, so be sure to check this one out!

You can now get Fried Chicken…with gravy…and mashed potatoes…and corn on the cob over at Pecos Bill’s in Frontierland! I’m so excited! Sounds like the perfect dinner for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, hmm…? (Jan ’10 update: Word is that the chicken fried chicken is only being served on certain days at Pecos Bill’s.)
