Fusion foods are still a trendy topic in the food world, and two of our favorite Disney Springs restaurants are partnering up for a one-afternoon-only, ticketed event called Pigs + Pints that combines the best of Morimoto Asia’s refined Asian cuisine and The Polite Pig’s southern fare.
Zocalo Park in Disneyland’s Frontierland has honored Dia de Los Muertos for some time now, featuring specialty displays and even snacks in honor of the annual Mexican celebration.
But things have gotten a lot bigger and better. Because this year’s Disneyland celebration extends to Disney California Adventure! Running now through November 2nd, the all-new Plaza de la Familia seasonal celebration offers live music and entertainment, interactive activities, and special decorations to enjoy. [Read more…]
Happy New Year, Friends!
Editor’s Note: This post has been updated with links to current reviews of the most anticipated 2017 Dining Experiences that have opened so far! Look for UPDATES and links throughout the post.
I hope that your 2017 is off to an excellent start and that you’re planning your next trip to Disney Parks for sometime this year!
As has been the case for the last few years, Disney has promised some big doin’s coming our way during the calendar year.
And oh, well, sure. The entire universe is poised on the edge of its collective seat, awaiting some indication of when Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land will spring to life. BUT — even though we really don’t expect to hear of openings on those fronts in 2017, there’s still PLENTY to look forward to!
We’re gearing up for one of our favorite weekends of the year — the Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic!
The event is in its seventh consecutive year, and promises to be bigger and better than ever. In 2016, the Food and Wine Classic will include 50 food and wine stations, 10 seminars, fun themed areas, and opportunities to meet some of the award-winning chefs who bring their artistry to life in the resort’s 17 restaurants! Editor’s Note: The opening of Frontera Cocina has been pushed back. It is anticipated that walk-ups will be received beginning June 27, but Open Table is accepting reservations starting July 21 at the time of this update.
Okay, Rick Bayless fans… this is a good day for you!
Because Frontera Cocina by Rick Bayless (host of “Mexico — One Plate at a Time” among numerous other achievements) will open on June 26, 2016! Well, at least according to Open Table — the online reservation booking engine. Tables are available to book at 6:00 pm daily for dates beginning Sunday, June 26th. [Read more…]
Earlier this week, we had the chance to check out a sneak preview of some of the wonderful offerings at the 2015 Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic.
The Swan and Dolphin Resorts’ companion event to the 2015 Epcot Food and Wine Festival kicks off TONIGHT! And if you haven’t gotten your tickets already, no worries — you can purchase them at the Will Call Table.
The Food and Wine Classic consists of two different offerings. You can attend informative seminars, where you can learn about everything from Cheese Pairings and Pasta Making to Wine Blending and how to make the perfect Caipirinha!
But there’s also the Causeway Grandtasting. Set up between the two resorts, the Causeway offers tasting-size portions of special dishes that represent all of the resort’s restaurants. There are also additional areas highlighting the diverse talents of the Swan and Dolphin Culinary Team.
I have plenty of new stuff to share with you, and there are some great food and drinks returning. Let’s take a look around at what the Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic has to offer this year!
NEW! Carnival Corner
Carnival Corner will be a brand new addition to this year’s Food and Wine Classic! The area, inspired by sweets and treats from childhood, will showcase the Swan and Dolphin Food Trucks/Trailers.
In this special area, guests can enjoy four different fun foods: Mac and Cheese, Corn Dogs, Funnel Cakes, and Nitro Kettle Corn! [Read more…]
So, you’ve heard us mention Food Trucks quite a few times here on the DFB, and typically we’re referring to the four Disney Food Trucks most often found at Exposition Park in Downtown Disney’s West Side (though we’ve also had the chance to visit the Truckeria Rolling Taco Truck when it has appeared on occasion).
Well, today we’re visiting four more Food Trucks… but they’re not the ones you’re accustomed to seeing (like Fantasy Fare or Namaste Cafe), nor are they in the place you’re used to hearing them mentioned. Nope… we’re excited to bring you news of the Food Trucks that can currently be found on the weekends at the Causeway of Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts!
I say “currently” because — as is pretty common for food trucks of any sort — schedules (as well as locations –what with being mobile and all 😉 ) are apt to change. And these food trucks are actually in a testing phase as well. So while we’ll list some info about hours and availability with every truck below, please note that [Read more…]
La Hacienda de San Angel
It’s been over a year since Epcot’s newest Mexican restaurant, La Hacienda de San Angel, opened its doors to great fanfare.
Our first visit there (when it first opened) was good, but not entirely memorable; so we were eager to give this spot a second try. And this time we brought along AJ’s Mom and AJ’s Dad to get their feedback!
La Hacienda is a beautiful restaurant. The contemporary decor, look, and feel of the place gives off a polished, sleek Mexico-inspired vibe without being kitschy and stereotypical. The high ceilings and simple furnishings give the space a fresh, light, airy feel; but the furniture is solid and steady — a fun contrast!
I think it’s got one of the most soothing vistas on Disney property — a long-windowed look out onto the World Showcase Lagoon and [Read more…]
Thanks to all who have contributed their photos to the Disney Food Blog Photo Extravaganza! We really enjoy seeing your photos!
The Disney Food Pics of the Week feature tacos, so let’s take a look at some South of the Border creations from Disney World and Disneyland. 🙂
Doesn’t this Taco Salad at Cucina Cucamonga in Disney California Adventure look delicious?! We love the high-quality counter service food at Disneyland.

Well, we finally did it. After dreading a trip back to Epcot’s San Angel Inn in the Mexico pavilion due to a couple of bad meals there, we booked an ADR. It was more a “we have to go because I write a food blog” thing than an avid desire to give the restaurant another chance, but…as it turns out…we’d been missing out for far too long.
Atmosphere has always been the main selling feature of San Angel Inn. Located inside the Epcot Mexico pyramid with seating along the Gran Fiesta Tour river, this restaurant offers a fun ambiance that you just won’t get anywhere else (besides Blue Bayou in Disneyland, maybe!).
Because the Mexico Pavilion’s pyramid is home to the set-up of a Mexican village in the evening, the restaurant is in a perpetual state [Read more…]
