We had a case of wanderlust this week, and instead of getting out the passport and packing, we just hopped over to spend the day in Epcot. Our journey started with some time spent in Future World, followed by a trip around the World Showcase. And boy, did we find a lot new eats and buys for you on this “trip”!
Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room is a favorite of many Walt Disney World guests — and it’s easy to see why.
The charm of this table service restaurant is apparent from the curb, as the facades of the United Kingdom in Epcot’s World Showcase blend from one architectural era to the next. And inside the doors? The charm continues.
But all the charm in the world doesn’t mean a thing if the food isn’t good — and here, it’s good. Almost across the board, we’ve enjoyed our visits to Rose & Crown, no matter whether we dined in the Dining Room or in the Rose & Crown Pub that’s adjacent to the restaurant proper.
On our last visit, we tried a Battered Bangers and Mash dish in the pub, but on this most recent visit, we were in the mood for the Dining Room — and those entrees!
Rose & Crown impresses from the jump, with the exteriors heavy and classic. We love the dark green window casings of the Rose & Crown Pub.

In our last review of Rose & Crown in Disney World’s Epcot, we took a look at some menu changes. And, with the new Spring season, it’s happened again! But this time it’s a bit more drastic.
There are several favorites that have been removed from the menu with this go-around! Potato Leek Soup? Gone. Sunday Dinner? Gone. Bangers and Mash? Gone (from the dinner menu).
But lots of new things have been added! The Ploughman’s Lunch and Cottage Pie are back on the menu after absences, and there are several new desserts to sample!
We’ve had a couple of menu update reports from friends of the Food Blog over the past couple of days! Here’s what we’re finding out…
Rose & Crown Restaurant
A new lunch menu started September 14th at the Rose & Crown in Epcot’s United Kingdom.
Thanks to @scarlettashley1 for the breaking-news tweet!
Highlighting Epcot’s World Showcase countries, these Ears Hats may not be all the rage just yet, but after a few brews I can see ya posing for a pic or two! And when you do, share it at the Disney Food Blog Photo Extravaganza. Please!
Germany Ears Hat
Guten Tag! Take a look at the Germany Ears Hat with a foodie favorite — the soft pretzel — on an ear!
If you’re heading to the Biergarten or stopping by the Germany booth at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, you need this topper. (This may look better after an Altenmunster at the Brewer’s Collection booth. Just sayin’ ;-)!)
Italy Ears Hat

Every once in a while I’ll be wandering through the Disney parks when I stumble across a hidden gem — something that most guests will probably just walk right by, but that catches my food-obsessed eye.
On my last trip, I was browsing through The Sportsman’s Shoppe in Epcot’s United Kingdom pavilion. On my way out (headed to the pub across the street), I saw this. Click on any of the photos for larger images:
This gorgeous diorama sits in a short lobby leading to the outdoors, just outside the shop and just across from the Rose & Crown Restaurant. I’m not sure I’d ever seen it before, but I was spellbound. I stared for several minutes, first trying to determine the story in the scene and then trying to take in all of the unbelievable detail.
Clearly, what we’re looking at here is a Royal Feast: the King is seated next to his Queen and Royal guests, servants bustle about behind the table, and an entertainer is rolling a hoop in front of the Royal party. And that’s not all — Knights in Armor guard the table with glistening, bejeweled shields; musicians stand in the balconies ready to entertain at a moment’s notice; Royal crests bedeck the walls; and a huge stained glass window completes the scene.
And he’s “rolling” in the true sense. The diorama is animatronic. You can watch the [Read more…]
