My adoration of Gelato is well documented. I’ve sought it out recently at Cafe Rix at Coronado Springs Resort, and I love stopping by Epcot’s Italy for one of their spectacular gelato treats, like the Coppa Delizia or the Handmade Gelato Cookie Sandwich.
So of course, during my recent stay at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, I had to check out their Gelato Bar!
The dense, frozen treat — an upscale, Italian cousin to American ice cream — is only one of the yummy desserts featured at this particular Landscape of Flavors station. But we’ve already told you about the Mickey Oreo Cupcake and the Mickey Ganache. 🙂
On any given day, the flavors might vary somewhat; but I have a feeling you’ll find something you want to dig into!
But what I (*cough* picky eater *cough*) really enjoy about the gelato here is that you can customize your cup by adding different flavors and toppings to the mix.
I went with my tried and true combo of raspberry and chocolate, and it was perfect. Sweet chocolate and tangy raspberry? Yes, please. Creamy and rich without overwhelming, I thought this was a perfect treat.
That dark chocolate was so gorgeous and silky. But when I wanted something to contrast with that flavor, the raspberry was the perfect foil — and it’s pretty too, peeking out from under the chocolate!
This is a great snack-and-amble option. Rather than finding a seat in the food court’s spacious dining room, I headed outdoors, cool treat in hand, for a stroll around Hourglass Lake. Exercise + creamy treat = no caloricals!!! 😉 Right?
When you’re looking for something just a half step up from ice cream as a treat, gelato is the perfect high end dessert option that makes even a trip to the food court feel a little special.

Gelato is the perfect food. More delicious than ice cream, and lower in fat/calories, if I’m not mistaken. Sigh, Italy is the birthplace of so many wonderful things.
I’ve never really taken advantage of the gelato opportunities at WDW-but now that I know I love it, I am going to rectify that on our next trip!
