We bid a sad kwaherini to our beloved Peanut Butter Brownie at the Mara at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Lodge this summer, but we’re thrilled to say: it’s back! But things aren’t precisely as they were. The original Peanut Butter Brownie was a dense chocolate brownie completely covered in creamy peanut butter frosting.

And it. was. awesome. Like go-out-of-your-way-to-get-it awesome. Seriously, we loved this thing.

And now not one, but two intrepid Insta-friends have sent us pictures of the brownie’s new incarnation. (We love our Insta-friends even more than the brownie. Y’all are the best!)
Not only has the Peanut Butter Brownie got a new look… it’s also got a new name! The Nyala Brownie is named after a strong spiral-horned antelope that’s native to the southern area of the African continent. And the new design seems to be mimicking the Nyala.

You can see the Mickey-shaped trio of frosting swirls — no more full frosting coverage!! — as well as a central line of white frosting to mimic the Nyala’s snout and two tiny chocolate horns. A+ for creativity, D- for reducing the amount of peanut butter frosting!

We’re definitely happy to see the Peanut Butter — ahem Nyala — Brownie is back. But we will miss the abundant frosting. Trust us: we’ll be digging in to see how this is just as soon as we’re back from our two-week safari! Is this still at the Mara, or somewhere else at AK/AKL?
Well, at least it’s back, but I know that less frosting is always a disappointment to AJ! 🙁 The Mickey design and animal trim in the frosting is cute, but it’s still a let down on frosting. It seems that when popular things disappear they come back later either with less of something, something missing, and/or a higher price. BUT, at least it’s back!
We had one yesterday and immediately thought of AJ. They still are delicious, and still are located at Mara. I feel like they might be a bit smaller though

But glad they are back. I keep waiting for the Cinnamon Yummys to come back to the Boardwalk:( and the Original fruit tart the new one has a soggy crust not as good
