Salt & Straw in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney
has been capturing the imaginations and the taste buds of Disney guests on the west coast since the location opened in October 2018.
We have to say: it lives up to the hype! Even when the ice cream they’re offering is packed with turkey! Yup: turkey (click here to read the turkey ice cream review ;-D)!
And for February Salt & Straw has released three new flavors: Eclipse’s Cardamom Rose Chocolate, Compartes’ Coffee and Love Nuts, and Nibble’s 85% Peruvian Chocolate Sorbet. We’re already in love.
Eclipse’s Cardamom Rose Chocolate is modeled after Eclipse’s cardamom rose petal-infused drinking chocolate. It has swirls of chocolate and rose ice cream with cardamom spice and cacao nib ice cream. Surprisingly, we found the rose really complemented the chocolate. Plus there are crunchy bits from the cacao nibs that give unexpected texture. So good.
Compartes’ Coffee and Love Nuts uses a cold brew, hyper-fair-trade coffee with floral notes. The coffee is blended with Salt & Straw’s cream and Compartes’ love nuts, candy pecans, and crunchy chocolate.
The coffee blend is smooth, but the real stand outs are the nuts, which add a sweet crunch and chewiness to this otherwise smooth ice cream.
Nibble’s 85% Peruvian Chocolate Sorbet is simply delicious! This is a vegan base using Nibble’s chocolate, coconut cream, and fleur de sel. Vegans and non-vegans alike will eat this up! The coconut base for this sorbet is a definite stand out.
If you haven’t tried Salt & Straw yet, this is a good month to do so! These flavors are all delicious and creative, using top-notch ingredients (as always!). Of course, we could say that every month because Salt & Straw is really slaying the ice cream game month after month! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Actually, Salt & Straw is not “at Disneyland” as your title suggests, but “at Downtown Disney”. Very misleading.
@Nick – Umm, I wasn’t “very mislead”. In the very first line it says: Salt & Straw in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney — and since they didn’t say it was in the Magic Kingdom, I don’t think it was breaking one of the 10 Commandments. (smile) Relax and go have an ice cream cone.
@Nick – When using the word Disneyland, it can refer to the resort, the hotel, or the park, which are all named Disneyland. Since Downtown Disney is part of the Disneyland Resort, the title is accurate (and the first line of the article goes immediately into more detail).
