The Land Pavilion’s Sunshine Seasons is one of the “Additional Locations” for specialty food options during the 2019 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. This category recognizes specialty items that are available for the Festival, but are not located at the event’s Outdoor Kitchen Food Booths.
The specialty item at Sunshine Seasons is the Earl Grey Tea Cake with Orange-Honey Filling topped with Honeybell Tangelo Buttercream, Honeycomb, and Bee Pollen.
But, for reasons you can easily see, we refer to it as the “Honey Bee Cupcake”. And at Sunshine Seasons, it’s simply labeled as the Seasonal Dessert.
The unique blend of flavors is even more remarkable than the adorable appearance of this treat.
The Earl Grey Tea flavor, while present, is sweetened with the orange and honey in the filling — much like when you curl up with your favorite cup of tea. The honey buttercream has a light and fluffy texture over the cake, and the bit of honeycomb and honey drizzle is an awesome touch.
It’s all in the details here, which are creative and thoughtful from both a taste and design perspective. But one detail we did want to point out are the “wings” on the bee.
They are made of almonds. And while that’s a fine choice, nothing was noted about allergens, so we wanted to be sure to provide a heads up to guests for whom that may be a concern.
Remember, the 2019 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival runs through June 3rd, so there’s nearly three full months to check out all the tastes of the Festival!
