The flavor emphasis is definitely on the banana in the icing. We actually didn’t pick up too much caramel at all, either in the icing or in the cake base which came across with more of a basic vanilla flavor, only a little sweeter. But that may be because there is even more banana on the way…

Altogether, the whole thing is reminiscent of a really good banana pudding (and as much as the macaron is a cute and tasty touch, I almost would’ve preferred to see a vanilla wafer cookie as the accent piece to mirror that classic dessert).
