It’s almost tiiiiiiimmme….. for the DISNEY CHRISTMAS SPECIALS!!!
Every year, Disney films a few TV Holiday specials in the Disney Parks to air during the season and we’ve got all the details on what to expect from the 2019 shows (and how their filming is impacting the parks!). You might remember that Disney announced filming dates to be this weekend starting today, well they must have started early because we spotted a couple of Disney Channel stars filming in Animal Kingdom yesterday!
If you’ll be home this holiday season instead of at the Disney Parks, have no fear! You can still join in on the Disney Christmas fun with three different TV specials filmed in the parks (yes, three)!
Tune in to ABC on November 28 for “The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration” and on Christmas Day for the “Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade.”
For Disney Channel fans, the fun is on December 13 with “Disney Channel Holiday Party at Disney World.”
We spotted the first signs of filming in Animal Kingdom yesterday with Disney Channel stars Isaac Ryan Brown (Booker from “Raven’s Home”) and Ruby Rose Turner (Cami from “Coop and Cami”).
These two are set to perform “12 Days of Christmas” for the Disney Channel special. Check out Ruby Rose Turner sporting those new holiday Minnie ears! Um… CUTE!
And today we spotted even more filming! There’s a full stage set up in Hollywood Studios today on Hollywood Boulevard complete with some super colorful and stylized Christmas trees.
There’s a ton of crew to make the filming run smoothly and it looks like Pentatonix, the famous acapella group known for their Christmas albums, are belting it out for the specials.
If you’re in Hollywood Studios today, you may be able to catch the filming! The group is set to perform “Deck the Halls” for “The Wonderful World of Disney” special, “Here Comes Santa Claus” for both the “Wonderful World” and the Disney Channel special, and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” for the “Christmas Day Parade Special.”
And we’re likely to see a lot more filming through the end of the weekend! Disney just released details on all of the celebrity acts we can expect from each special and it’s quite the star-studded line-up.
The Thanksgiving Day special, “The Wonderful World of Disney” is being filmed in Disney World and Disneyland and will feature Matthew Morrison, Emma Bunton (Baby Spice!!!), Jesse Palmer, Sting, Shaggy, Portugal. The Man, Pentatonix, Ingrid Michaelson, Andy Grammer, Ally Brooke, and Lindsey Stirling.
You can catch the two-hour special celebrating the start of the holidays on Thanksgiving night, November 28 at 8-10 PM EST on ABC. Aaaaaaand it’s going to feature a sneak peek at Rise of the Resistance, coming this winter to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both American parks. So we’ll DEFINITELY be tuning in.
The “Disney Channel Holiday Party” is being filmed in Disney World and on the Disney Cruise Ship Fantasy with appearances from TONS of Disney Channel stars. In addition to Isaac Ryan Brown and Ruby Rose Turner, the special will also feature Meg Donnelly, Milo Manheim, Kylie Cantrall, Pentatonix, Shaggy, Scarlett Estevez, and Israel Johnson.
The Disney Channel special will also feature an exclusive new ride sneak peek with a first look at Hollywood Studios and Disneyland’s Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Disney Channel fans can also check out a preview for the upcoming Disney Channel original sequel ZOMBIES 2. Tune in to this special on December 13 at 8 p.m. EST /PST on Disney Channel.
Last, but certainly, not least (in fact this special is probably the biggest) we’ve got alllllll the deetz for Disney’s Christmas Day special!
This special will film in Disney World and Disneyland and will have appearances from Matthew Morrison, Emma Bunton, Jesse Palmer, Marsai Martin, JD McCrary, Sting, Shaggy, Pentatonix, Ingrid Michaelson, Grace VanderWaal, Portugal. The Man, Ally Brooke, and the cast of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”
The “Christmas Day Parade” will air a massive Disney parade in celebration of Christmas as well as a TON of Disney sneak peeks! Get another look at Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, a first look at the Avengers Campus coming to California Adventure, and a behind-the-scenes view of the new Skyliner system. This two-hour special airs at 10 AM EST December 25 on ABC.
Whew…. talk about BIG plans for those holiday specials! Remember: filming is going on in Disney World RIGHT NOW through November 10 so if you’re in the parks, keep an eye out! Disneyland filming dates have yet to be announced but we’ll be sure to let you know when we have the details.

Whitney Fischer says
My husband and I saw Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim at Magic Kingdom on Saturday (November 9, 2019) walking around with their film entourage. Meg was dressed for the season in a cute red romper and Santa-like belt with bright red lips, looking adorable as ever! Milo was dressed more casually, but still cute as always, and is WAAAAYYYYYY taller in person than he appears on tv!
My two daughters are huge fans of theirs and “Someday” is a song played and sung often in our car and home. I was trying to snap a quick pic of the two for my kids since they weren’t with us this trip, when one of the Disney workers walking with them pushed my phone out of the way and said “Ma’am be respectful, they are working.” I was literally at a loss for words. I was just taking a picture… not trying to talk to them or cause a scene like a crazed star struck lunatic. The guy actually caused me to fall into a baby in a stroller. I was stoked to see the two in person, but highly disappointed to have been treated that way by a Disney cast member.
