Disney has announced a date for the temporary closure of the dining, shopping, and entertainment districts of Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort in light of concerns over the Coronavirus.
Disney will close all of its owned and operated locations at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World and the Downtown Disney District in Disneyland Resort effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
Disney notes that “Individual tenants will make decisions on whether to continue or adjust operations.”
A closure of all Disney Stores in North America will also take effect on March 17, 2020. Guests may still shop on shopDisney.com.
A reminder that the Walt Disney World Resort hotels (as well as Vero Beach Resort) will be closing at 5:00 PM on Friday, March 20th, so guests may make necessary arrangements in the coming days. We understand that this changes the plans of many of our readers. So if you have questions, please let us know and we will do our best to help you get the answers you need.
Disney reminds that these measures are being taken in an abundance of caution and in the best interest of the guests and the company’s cast members.
We here at DFB have been tracking the steps that Disney has taken around the parks to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. You can learn more about that here.

I can’t seem to get an answer from cirque du soleil regarding a refund. If Disney Springs is closing down, I would assume cirque would be required to refund. Our trip has been cancelled. Our cirque tickets were for May 2 but trip had to be cancelled now as this certainly will remain an issue for probably months to come. What can you recommend on getting cirque du soleil to refund ticket money? Thanks for your help.
Ditto… also would love to know about refund regarding Cirque tickets. Have not heard a thing and don’t appreciate tbem not reaching out!
