As part of the efforts to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus, new policies are being put in to effect immediately in Orlando and throughout the state of Florida with the goal of reducing the number of people gathering in bars and restaurants.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis ordered that bars and nightclubs throughout the state will be closed for 30 days.
Additionally, Governor DeSantis “called for restaurants to operate at a maximum of 50% capacity with at least 6 feet between tables.”
Moments prior to the announcement by DeSantis this morning, the Orlando Sentinel also reports that Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer announced “that bars would be prohibited from serving drinks on-site” through the end of March. Mayor Dyer’s order includes restaurants and hotels as well as bars nightclubs.
Note that other steps are being taken in the state outside of the restaurant world. For instance, though Florida’s beaches are not closed, DeSantis states that gatherings of people on the beach should be limited to 10 people.

This site has gone downhill over the past few years. Been a fan of AJ for a while, beginning with her podcasts but enough already with the clickbait headlines, ALL CAPS in headlines, over usage of exclamation points, and fluff BS pieces that are rehashed from Disney’s marketing folks and other sites.
I agree. It’s tiring.
In Michigan bars are closed and only pick up & drive thru for restaurants. It’s distressing to see drunk college students on spring break making light of this. They should all be quarantined for 14 days before they can travel all over the country.
I’m not really sure why the Mayor is prohibiting the sale of alcohol. Mixed drinks don’t give you the Coronavirus you being in the restaurant/ hotel at all is what gives you the Coronavirus
AJ I enjoy the site. Keep up the good work.
