While previously Orlando residents were told a curfew was being instated, now a stay at home order has just been issued.
The Orlando Sentinel has just confirmed a stay at home order will go into effect starting at 11 PM on Thursday, March 26th and will tentatively last for two weeks.
Perhaps in light of this stay at home order which will impact Orange County’s 1.3 million residents, Universal Orlando Resort has just extended its temporary closure to April 19th. Since Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings has issued this order for two weeks starting this Thursday, the new guideline is expected to be lifted after April 9th.
All 13 municipal counties will be covered, including a significant portion of Walt Disney World Resort. People will be permitted to travel for essential business or trips to the grocery store or pharmacy, but otherwise will be asked to stay home.
Similar stay at home orders are now in effect throughout the rest of Florida while total cases in the United States have surpassed 50,000.
At this time Disney World has yet to extend its closure, but we’ll update you with any official statement from Disney when or if they choose to make one.

Floridian here. We don’t all have stay at home orders, in fact, besides the Miami area, few of us do except for a few mayors stepping in. We haven’t even begun to really shut things down here, we’re way behind the curve ball, and I’d be surprised if Disney opened before May at this point.
If people thing WDW will open before June they are mad!
Trump is doing nothing to help the country. Itโs gonna get a lot worse before it gets better in the US!
Hi Jon, canโt wait to be in Wdw on Easter ๐ itโs a beautiful place, a beautiful time of year.
Unfortunately , June may be out based on the current statistics . Im feeling a Disney vacation will be needed by all when this is over. Praying Disney doesn’t raise the cost to make up for 3 months down.
It is not shelter in place but stay at home there is a big difference.
There is not a stay at home order throughout Florida.
Jonโs comment is not helpful and should be deleted.
It would be wonderful if WDW was a shelter! ๐
Sorry Kathy, but it’s true, the worst is yet to come, unless people stay at home, it’s spreading.
All those out on Spring Break on the beaches etc are NOT helping the situation.
I wanna go back to WDW as much as the next Disney Fan, however there is clearly a need for people to stay at home, and not travel across the country to visit WDW.
Stay safe Cory!! ๐
it is now 1.3 million. how can disney open with the threat looming over the whole country? not smart.
Well Disney Springs is opening next week and I for one will be there. Non Disney restaurants and shops first. I already have reservations made on the restaurant websites. By June 1st the Disney restaurants will follow and I also have reservations on that date. So it looks like they are giving it a whirl and I am happy about that.
