NEW Droid Depot App Delivers an Experience from Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge to You at Home

A visit to the Droid Depot is one of many experiences you can have in a galaxy far, far away when you visit Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu by way of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

And today, in honor of Star Wars Day (“May the 4th Be With You!”), Disney is launching a way to bring some of the Droid Depot to YOU with the new Droid Depot mobile app!

The app, which is available for free download on both the App Store and Google Play in the United States and Canada, brings your astromech droid from Droid Depot “to life” for “a galactic experience at home.”

You see, the BB-series or R-series droid which visitors to Galaxy’s Edge customize at the Droid Depot can interact with elements in the land. And thanks to this app, your droid can interact with you at home!

YES! You can program and customize your droid with a name, view its profile, and pilot them on a “virtual path” around your home, activating sounds and maneuvers in the process!

Additional features include access to tunes you may have heard spun by DJ R3X at Oga’s Cantina, with the ability to choreograph your droid to dance along in your home! (You can also challenge your droid to a game of tic-tac-toe in easy or difficult mode.)

BUT, let’s say you haven’t had the chance to build you own droid just yet. Well, Disney shares that “You can also channel your inner droid builder in an all-new virtual experience where you can build a digital droid and create a whole new virtual collection of droids!”

And we’re NOT DONE YET!! Disney has also announced that pre-built versions of BB-8 and R2-D2 interactive remote control droids from Droid Depot at Galaxy’s Edge are available for a limited time, while supplies last, on shopDisney.com ! They will be delivered to you at home, and will be ready to interact upon syncing them with the Droid Depot app!
