If you miss Disney World right now, raise your hand!
Ever since Disney World closed on March 16th, we’ve been missing our happy place. And with the closure extended until further notice, we’re not sure when we’ll be able to take our next stroll down Main Street, U.S.A. Given all of the uncertainty, we wanted to know whether or not our readers are still planning a trip to Disney World in 2020. Let’s take a look at what you guys had to say!
Even though we don’t know exactly when Disney World will reopen, like Cinderella said, they can’t order us to stop dreaming! Given the uncertainty, we wanted to know whether our readers are still planning a vacation for this year. And it seems people are mostly optimistic!
We asked our followers on Instagram if they’re planning a trip to Disney World in 2020 and we got a ton of responses in just the first few minutes! Of the first 630 people who responded, 494 said yes they are planning a trip in 2020, 114 said no they’re holding off, and 22 said they still might plan a trip but they’re waiting for more info. Here’s a visual breakdown of the results!

Pie Chart of Our Readers’ Responses When Asked Whether They’re Planning a Trip to Disney World in 2020
Our readers also shared some reasons behind their decision-making about whether or not to plan a trip this year. Let’s take a look at some common responses!
“YES, I’m Planning a Trip to Disney World in 2020!”
Overall, the respondents were pretty optimistic with 78% saying that yes, they’re still planning a 2020 vacation! Some said that they moved back their original dates in the hopes that the parks will be reopened, like one reader who said, “Canceled early July 2020 but moved to late October 2020.”
Lots of people also mentioned that even though they’re still planning and remaining positive, they realize their trip might not happen. As one reader put it, “Still booked the end of August, cautiously optimistic we’ll be able to go.”

“Nope, No 2020 Disney World Trip for Me!”
But not everyone is still on board for a Disney World vacation this year. 18% of respondents said they aren’t planning a 2020 trip anymore. Some mentioned that they’ll still be concerned about the conditions in the parks even after they reopen. One reader said, “My dream trip for this April got canceled and I wouldn’t feel safe traveling this year.”
Other respondents said at this point, they’re going to wait it out for other milestones. Several people are now planning for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World or holding out for new attractions. One reader said, “Nope. Gonna plan my Halloween next year so I can ride the Tron Coaster.”

“I Want to Plan a Trip, But I’m Waiting Until I Know More”
A few readers are still on the fence! 3% said they are interested in planning a trip but won’t start the process until the situation becomes more clear. Some want to know what they’re signing up for before they start making reservations. “I really want to travel this fall. But we are waiting to see what a ‘reopened’ Disney looks like.”
Others also have health concerns, “I had wanted to go back in the fall, but I’m immune compromised. Wait and see.” While this group wasn’t ready to count a trip out, they aren’t comfortable committing yet, “We are still debating, have looked at multiple dates and options but still playing it by ear.”
Here’s how our readers responded when asked if they’re in favor of temperature checks at Disney World
While many readers raised valid concerns about planning a 2020 trip to Disney World, the majority of respondents said they’re still moving forward with their plans for later this year!
The theme of the responses was cautious optimism, with lots of people acknowledging that they know their trips aren’t guaranteed and may look very different than expected. Time will tell just when Disney World reopens, so check back with us for the latest closure related news.

We have a trip already booked to Disneyland Anaheim for the last week of October. I don’t know if America will let us in from England but if they do I’ll be there. You need something to look forward to at the moment
Yes I am planning a Disney trip this year. Since the senior trip got canceled at my school my mom is going to take me and my friends to Disney World hopefully this summer, hopefully either in June or July. And me and my family are also going at the end of October beginning of November for the Halloween and Christmas party
Was suppose go in October 2020, but with everything going on, my family and I decided to switch our vacation to September 2021.
I’ve had a trip for end of September locked in since last summer, already got my plane tickets, and have dining reservations set. My best friend and I are still 1000% planning on going unless Disney cancels it/doesn’t open by then. Me and her are making an annual vacay a new tradition (we went to Nashville last year), and this is going to be how I celebrate my 30th bday. Unless Disney decides not to open, we are going!
We have a trip booked to WDW for the first 2 weeks in September, we are travelling from the UK so we are hoping and praying WDW is open and we are allowed to fly. We love DFB and with all the bad news its great to watch your content and get some magic. Thank you.
We had our trip booked for the first week in June and just moved it to the first week in August. We would have moved it to later in the year but everything is already pretty booked up and my wife is a school teacher and can’t take off a week at her job to go. Hoping we can still enjoy our trip, even in the extreme heat. Worst case scenario for us is booking our trip for next year at some point. We’ll see.
We have a trip planned for December. I hope all will be good by then.
Thankfully we were in Disney World the last week in February 2020, because I’m not sure if I will be going back again this year. I would like to, but I have to wait and see.
Our original trip was canceled. We are planning one for late October into early November for WDW. we have already booked our air and accommodations a nd have annual passes. just waiting for the green light.
Rebooked a May trip to July, and already had a December trip booked. (We go at least twice a year). If they’re open, we’ll be there.
Already booked for late August. Hoping I won’t have to postpone
The Star Wars convention is planned for the last week of August, and so far they haven’t cancelled it. If that goes ahead, we have a week trip planned to Disneyland after the convention. We plan to go unless everything gets cancelled!
Our Easter 2020 trip was obviously cancelled, so we rescheduled and booked everything for early October 2020. Our plane tickets are booked, as are all our ADR (same ones!) and our Timeshare Week. We have insurance this time but the only issue was choosing the date. The purchased Disney Park tickets are ONLY being extended until December 15, 2020, so a Christmas trip is out of the question (shame on you WDW). Our Southwest tickets are now good until mid-2022!!!!
My May trip has been rescheduled for Nov. Soooo ready for my Disney fix!
We are planned for the last few days of November and first few of December I hope we can still go. I miss the parks too much!!!!!
We have a trip booked for mid October already, but are cautiously optimistic. If changes are too extreme and hinder the experiences we have booked, will probably postpone for late in 2021.
We have a trip mid September and if we’re able too still want to go but the issues is if we fly all the way from the uk but can’t get into the parks cu of the limited capacity
We rescheduled our March trip to early December, and we already had a late October trip that we’re still planning to go ahead with. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
We have a trip from the UK in November to Florida and if that plane is going we are so on it to Disney.
I have a trip planned for September and don’t plan to cancel, but I might. If I have to wear a mask I’ll likely cancel.
We have a trip planned for fall but my child has autism and won’t wear a mask. I’m not thinking we will be able to go as long as masks are required. Also nervous about a possible second wave in the fall and suddenly getting canceled last minute!
Planning a trip to Disney World end of October for our first MNSSHP
Was looking to go to our annual Food and Wine Festival trip, think we’ve done 5 years in a row, maybe 8 total, Lucky to hit both the CA and FL Food & Wine one year. But, with this “Have to Mask Up” policy, we discussed it and there’s no way we’re spending our vacation as well as our hard earned money walking around in 90+ degrees in a mask. Not Going !!
