Governments around the country are continuing to make decisions on when to stay closed and when to open up.

Disneyland Main Entrance – Closed

We’ve been keeping a close eye on the states that Disney parks are in and there have been some interesting developments. Despite California moving through their phased reopening plan, Los Angeles County (just next door to Disneyland’s Orange County) has stated that stay-at-home orders will likely be extended for the next three months.

According to the LA Times, the Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer mentioned to a Board of Supervisors meeting that stay-at-home orders will be extended for the next three months “with all certainty.” Though this is not an official announcement or extension of the order, it seems likely that LA county will be staying home for a little bit longer.

Disney California Adventure Main Entrance — Closed

LA County is immediately next to Orange County, the home of Disneyland Resort. At this time Orange County has not shared information regarding a three-month extension.

The neighboring county isn’t the only Disney-adjacent area making some long-term concessions. Also according to the LA Times, California State University (which has a campus that is less than a 30-minute drive to Disneyland) is canceling most in-person classes for the fall semester to offer instruction online instead.

This decision comes in response to the fact that, “Our university, when open without restrictions and fully in person … is a place where over 500,000 people come together in close and vibrant proximity,” White said at a meeting of Cal State’s Board of Trustees. “That approach sadly just isn’t in the cards now.”
