We’re reporting live from CityWalk in Universal Orlando now that some of the entertainment district’s restaurants and shops have started to reopen after being closed since mid-March.

So far, we’ve had our temperatures taken and we’ve seen face masks and hand sanitizer being sold at numerous retail locations, but here’s something we DIDN’T expect to see!

Shortly after reopening, the Jimmy Buffett-themed bar and restaurant, Margaritaville, already boasted a 2.5 hour wait time!  That’s some serious Parrothead pent-up demand (that’s the name Jimmy Buffett fans go by).

A Margaritaville hostess said they are taking names and numbers to text guests when their tables are ready. While it seems like a lot of folks are excited to take bite out of paradise again, we think the longer wait time could also have something to do with the restaurant operating at limited capacity.

Governor Ron DeSantis’ safety guidelines for Phase One only allow Florida restaurants to have 25% indoor occupancy while all outdoor tables must be spaced six feet apart.

We also noticed the outdoor bar, Margaritas to Go, wasn’t open at this time. In fact, Margaritaville wasn’t providing any carry-out options during our visit.

We’ll continue to explore the reopening of Universal Studios Orlando’s CityWalk.
