The Walt Disney World theme parks will begin a phased reopening on July 11th. Ahead of that, select Disney Resort hotels will begin to reopen to guests starting on June 22nd.
Highlighting safety as the top priority, Disney’s reopening plans include new measures to protect both guests and Cast Members. Over the weekend, a lot of new information was revealed for how operations at Walt Disney World will proceed upon the initial reopening with new protocols presented for several guest experiences ranging from dining to their stay in a Disney Resort hotel.
Disney has also provided a statement in an “Update on Disney Resort Hotels” by Katie Kelly, Vice President of Worldwide Safety Services to prepare guests for what they can expect with regards to enhanced safety and cleanliness measures.
As we’ve discussed, online check-in will be strongly encouraged to start your stay, and “redesigned bell services” will allow guests to meet luggage at their room. In addition to increased cleaning and hand sanitizer stations in high-traffic areas (and much more), Disney is also giving rooms a “thorough cleaning” before your arrival, and notes that housekeeping cast members will receive additional training on these increased measures.
While you can explore these measures in full here, this graphic below provides a good look at the all of the various room elements which will receive thorough cleaning prior to guest entry including everything from door handles, pulls and knobs to electronic devices, bathroom amenities, and more.

Additional measures include limiting capacity in select shared areas where appropriate such as restaurants and pools, in order to promote safe distancing. Disney also reminds of ways that technology will be utilized to limit contact with services such as Mobile Order in participating dining locations.
Finally, a short video highlights “What To Expect During Your Next Disney Stay,” which you can watch in full below.

Pete from Yorktown Hgts, NY says
Being that the maid staff will only be in the rooms prior to check in, what would be a fair tip. They are investing more time but we wont be seeing the results on a daily basis ?
DFB Sarah says
Pete, it sounds like they’ll be completing a “light cleaning” every other day in typical Resort rooms (on the 4th and 8th days for DVC), so perhaps you could calculate based on what you’d normally tip, but adjust for the every-other-day pattern if it works better for you.
Georgina says
Hi, does this mean that coffee makers may be returning to the rooms? I hope so!
