Disney World’s theme parks will begin reopening July 11th.
Among other health measures, the reopening plan includes the use of a new guest reservations system for use in the theme parks. Disney shared a number of details about the Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system last week, and now the reservation system has officially rolled out online.
The Disney World website features some significant changes today when it comes to the way that guests plan their Disney trip. Next time you head to Disney, you’ll be visiting the Disney Park Pass page to make your theme park reservations. When we first logged in this morning, it appeared that the Disney website was experiencing some MAJOR technical difficulties — potentially due to high demand.
Though the system is LIVE, quite a few readers are still having a hard time accessing the new system. You will likely be greeted with a countdown Space Mountain loading screen (that will possibly never actually count down to zero!), so be prepared to potentially wait for a while.
Reservations are made for a specific date, time, and park. You are limited to one park reservation per day, so it seems that the Park hopper service will not be in use at this time. You can see on the availability calendar that it shows “All Parks Available,” “Some Parks Available,” or “No Parks Available” for each date.
When we did FINALLY get the new page to load (it took us a while and a lot of tries!), we were able to select “Make a Disney Park Pass Reservation” on the top right. We were prompted to log in to our My Disney Experience account (we were met with a much shorter wait to actually log in), then it was time to start making our reservations!
First, you’ll select your party from your list of Family & Friends. Make sure to make profiles for other members of your family before making a reservation! If someone in your party does NOT have a profile, you can add them as a guest.
Once you’ve got your party set up, you’ll be able to see a calendar for you to select your singular date.
Then, it’s on to the park selection page! As a note, if a park is unavailable for the day you are making your reservation, it will be greyed out on this screen.
What better park to start our days back in Disney than Magic Kingdom? The next screen had us selecting a window of time. The window was NOT limited though; at this time there was only one option and it was for the full park hours.
Then, you’re pretty much done. All you have to do is review your choices and confirm. As announced, confirmation requires agreement to the terms and conditions, including Disney’s COVID-19 liability waiver.
Once you confirm, you’re done!
From there, you’ll see a screen that explains how to use your reservation when you arrive at the parks. Make sure to bring your MagicBand or card that’s linked to your My Disney Experience account. Once you feel comfortable with the info, you can either “Make Another Park Pass” or exit to “View My Plans.”
If you choose to make additional Park Passes you’ll repeat the process above, including selecting the date, the park, agreeing to the waiver, and so on. Once we were IN the Park Pass system it was relatively smooth sailing, but it was a chore to get there! Hopefully as the initial rush dies down, this system will be easier to access.
As a reminder, there is a limit on reservations for Annual Passholders without a resort reservation and Passholders without a hotel reservation can’t access the system until June 26th. Note that while we were able to book with our Annual Passes for the length of our hotel stays, we’ve had a number of readers with resort stays AND Annual Passes report they were capped at three! If this happens we recommend you call Disney to get it sorted out.
Though the new system is relatively easy to navigate, it still might bring up some questions. If anything is confusing you, feel free to ask us and we’ll help if we can! If you find that you need direct help from Disney with your reservation, you can call Disney Website Support at (407) 939-4357. Keep in mind though, the lines may be busy so you might get stuck on hold for a while.
Remember that at this time, “To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required.” Annual Passholders without an already-booked Resort Hotel stay can make reservations beginning June 26th. Existing ticket holders can make reservations beginning June 28th.
It certainly will be interesting to see how the use of this new system plays out and if it goes off without a hitch once the parks reopen. Keep an eye on DFB for all the updates about the new reservations!

Got all of my parks reservations for our DVC trips this summer & fall. Got only one parks reservation for our runDisney hotel accommodations — saying that we’ve reached our park pass limit. Our parks tickets are Premium Plus.
Very frustrating! Should be able to book for our length of stay.
Haven’t been able to reach technical support or Annual Passholder support, despite hundreds of attempted calls. Chat support is also not working.
Hope they fix this today or tomorrow — I don’t want to compete with annual pass holders on the 26th.
Alice says
So come June 26, I have AP and 7 day park hopper for my mom. We are linked. Does this mean we can reserve all 7 days for both of us? Or only 3 days for me? We have off grounds reservations for latter part of September. Thanks for all your info!
Tracy says
I have AP and two resort stays coming up. I was able to book parks for each of 5 days in July, but received dreaded “Disney Park Pass Limit Reached” when trying to reserve parks in September. What is particularly insulting is the heading at top of screen which reads, “Not So Fast”. Since I’ve devoted an entire workday to this nonsense, I don’t consider that “fast “. I hope this issue with AP not being able to reserve for multiple trips gets resolved before allowing non-resort pass holders to make reservations on a June 26.
Dennis says
As an AP holder from Europe you probably have no chance to reserve a park without a Disney Resort reservation. We had the same problem for years with the fastpass reservations for Avatar flight of passage or seven dwarf mine train. We could never reserve tickets for these attractions since opening. Not online 30 days before or when we were in Orlando. I expect the same problem for the park reservations. Disney will always prefer resort guests. Maybe next year.
Richard Gordon says
My wife figured this one out. We got park reservations for our December trip because we had resort reservations in December. As AP’s we won’t be able to make park reservations until the 26th.
We’ll see.
Melanie Durham says
I’m a little confused, sorry! I’m an annual passholder AND I have reservations for July 9-12 but I’m waiting for the email to be sent! Am I supposed to just sit and wait for the email from Disney or am I supposed to make my reservations for my park days? This is all so confusing!
Thank you thank you thank you for everything you do for us! Sorting out all the confusion! You rock AJ! 💜
Greg says
Here is a puzzle: I am simultaneously looking at the Disney Park Pass Availability page showing all parks still having availability every day after June 18, and looking at my Disney Park Pass Booking page showing no available parks any day between July 2020 and February 2021 (yes, I clicked every date to look). For the record, I have a paid ten day resort stay and have made some reservations before everything went gray on me, and I’m not an AP holder (gosh I wish) so it isn’t *that* known problem.
So, one of those two documents are full of baloney. I wish I just knew for sure which one, so I could act accordingly (either know it is worth trying ad nauseum to reload and staying on perpetual hold for a Disney rep, or abandon all hope and weep)…
DFB Sarah says
Alice, I think if you’re not staying on-site, you can only book three Disney Park Pass reservations for yourself. Your mom can book seven for her tickets. We don’t know yet if you can make Park reservations one at a time as you use your three (so when you use the first one on your trip, can you make a new reservation to fill that slot?).
DFB Sarah says
Marc, I also hope they resolve these IT issues ASAP. I say definitely keep trying, and hopefully you’ll get what you need sooner rather than later.
Gregory Ermold says
I was able to get into the site and get a reservation at HS on day 1 but now says for every other day of our stay that no parks are available….Did anyone else run into this issue? I have been trying all day from multiple devices even all with no luck 😭
DFB Sarah says
Aaron, we aren’t seeing dates fully booked for any Park except July 15-17 (DHS). Not sure that’ll make you feel any better, but I hope you’ll get what you need soon.
Mr. John says
Pam June 26 is for Annual pass is he if so it wil! Kick him out ! The family profile has to be all dune for all in the party . All is in this blog under “create your party “in that area !
Debbie says
Family is staying in a resort but system won’t let us book a park for our daughter’s first day, the day she and her husband arrive.Oct 14. Says they have reached their Park Pass limit. We have had resort and park tickets for at least 3 months. Started scheduling backwards from our last day (Oct 20) to Oct 11. Only glitch is the Oct 14 day for our daughter and husband. They are registered at the Yacht Resort Oct 14-20. Why saying they have reached their Park Pass limit? We are scheduled for more days than they.
Julie says
It took me 7 hours, kicked out several times, blank pages, but once the page was up, it was a breeze.
DFB Sarah says
Debbie, sounds like it could be a glitch. I’d recommend you keep trying, and call/chat with Disney if you can’t get the system to work for you on this one.
Heather says
I’m past the castle but unable to sign into my disney account keeps kicking me off I have 5 day hopper and resort stay for Oct 27 – Nov 3rd 2020. Any thoughts of why I cant sign on. I’m entering in the correct username and password. Much thanks.
DFB Sarah says
Heather, the only thing I can think of is that it might be a glitch. Have you had any luck since you wrote around 530PM?
DFB Sarah says
Greg, I think it’s a glitch, but we don’t know this for sure. Have you had any luck since your message around 4?
DFB Sarah says
Melanie, you will want to try to make reservations. Since you have a Resort reservation, you should be able to log in today to make that attempt. GOod luck!
DFB Sarah says
Richard, we are hoping that’s the case — we’ll update when we know for sure.
DFB Sarah says
Shirley, this has been the case for many APs today. We think it’s a glitch, so hopefully it’s worked out soon (if not already).
DFB Sarah says
Common issue, Gemma. Hopefully just a glitch that is being worked out!
DFB Sarah says
Hi, Molly. We’re hoping the park limit error is a glitch. If we can confirm that, we will update.
DFB Sarah says
Oh, Barbara, you just made my day. It’s all good on this end — you all are the real stars of today dealing with these technology issues!
DFB Sarah says
Sheila, if you’re all in the “party”, I think the Park Pass should apply to everyone. However, we do know some folks have had to make separate reservations for various people in their party. According to Disney, this would be if someone in the group had a different type of ticket (like a mix of regular admission and Annual Passes). You will want to go back in and try to make them for the other guest in your group. Good luck!
DFB Sarah says
Diane, we expect guests will be able to leave and return to the Park, yes.
DFB Sarah says
Richard, APs have had a rough day! If your second attempt was for days you DON’T have a Resort reservation, you may find you can make those on the 26th, which is the day APs without Resort reservations can book DIsney Park Passes. If your second attempt was for another Resort stay, it is possible that’s a glitch.
DFB Sarah says
Aaron, I hope this was sorted out for you!
Gregory Ermold says
Unfortunately, still no luck. The days still say “One or more parks are not available for Disney Park Pass selections”.
DFB Sarah says
Julie, Stitch can be pretty hungry on busy website days. I hope you got this sorted out today.
DFB Sarah says
Mike, way to go!
DFB Sarah says
Gregory, humbug! What a day this has been.
DebC says
We have five DVC reservation from Oct 2020 through May 2021. I was able to book the first three days of our October trip when it said the two guests both had a problem with meeting the three day limit. Tried different browsers and still got the same message. I guess I’ll be calling tomorrow.
helen archambeault says
a suggestion to the Disney Tech staff may be to allow guests to modify a reservation if you choose a wrong park or made an error in the reservation rather than having to delete it and re-enter the reservations system to make the reservations.
Cynthia says
I was able to book a park for our two day July visit. I then booked 5 days of our 7 day October trip, but could not book the additional two days? I don’t understand why it said we had exceeded our limit since both trips are made with resort stays. Any thoughts?
Randy says
Is it possible to change your park reservations? I’d like to do some switching but am afraid if I try to alter them, them I might not get any. Any suggestions?
DFB Sarah says
DebC, you might give it another shot at some point, too, because it may be a glitch. Lots of folks had this problem.
Eric Reisinger says
Has anyone had a problem with someone in your party not being on the room reservation? I called to switch hotels because original one is still closed. The agent assured me the person is on the room reservation and it still won’t let me add his park reservation.
Lea B. says
Been at it since this morning and still trying… My mother and I are both Annual Passholders with a 4 day Resort Reservation for the Fall. She purchased her AP during the shutdown so her pass is not yet activated, my AP is activated. Once allowed in, I was able to get 3 park reservation days for both of us but the system did put a hold on me when I attempted the 4th day. My mother’s AP did not have a problem. I went ahead and secured her 4th day, hoping they release my 4th park day pass. I wrote the Passholder email , and have tried to call various numbers but everything is busy.
Online chats are not available. The phone lines are so overwhelmed, the line hangs up. I’d welcome being put on hold listening to park music at this point. We shall try again tomorrow, just wanted to share my experience
DFB Team: Thanks for all the great content!
Cindy says
Hello DFB! What happens if you need to buy tickets? We heard you could buy on June 28. Your screen shot showed that we need to check for park availability first before we purchase tickets, but what if after we purchase tickets there is no longer availability? We are DVC members and have DVC resort reservations in September. Thanks!
Debbie says
I’m an annual passholder witH DVC resort reservations in October and December. After reserving three days in October, I got the “Not So Fast” message. Tried to call the number to protest and got an all circuits busy message. So, waiting to book the rest of October trip and my December trip. Maybe tomorrow my account will be sorted?
Sue S says
I’m an annual passholder and DVC owner. Could only get 3 days reserved for 2 different stays (Sept/Dec) .
Annual passholders are being penalized.
DFB Sarah says
Debbie, hopefully the IT team will iron out the wrinkles. This seems to be a glitch. We will try to update tomorrow if it looks to be working better.
DFB Sarah says
Cindy, I’m not sure how they’re going to handle the timing on that. When that part of the system goes live, we will update.
DFB Sarah says
Lea, thanks for sharing! I’m hopeful it’ll get sorted out for you tomorrow. 🙂
DFB Sarah says
Eric, I don’t think I’ve heard about this issue today. Might want to reach out to Disney again tomorrow or try clearing cookies and going back in. Sorry I don’t have a solution for you!
DFB Sarah says
Randy, I think you will be able to modify, but I’m not sure how that works. I’ve asked the team to pull together a step by step on that.
DFB Sarah says
Cynthia, we think this is likely a glitch. Give it another try tomorrow; hopefully it’ll be sorted out.
Stacey Crummie says
To All. There is hope. We started out the day trying to book just three days in August. It took three of us about 2 hours to get the 3 days done. Had ALL the problems many of you have listed, and one where it wouldn’t let me even log in. It kept just going back to the login screen with no error. Then when I started trying to work on our September stay, we got the “not so fast” stuff and it said we were at our limit of three. I gave up for several hours, but tonight I started the war again. I at least got logged on. I went to September. This time it let me book the first day, but days 2,3,4, and 5 all said – No Parks Available. Ok, not giving up, so I hit the back button and started over. I kept skipping around between the remaining five days, and on about the fourth try, suddently, all the parks were BACK on a day, and I would get one res. I just kept at it, and in about 30 minutes was able to book all four parks for the five day stay (we do a Springs day as well). Don’t believe what you see. This system is TOTALLY fugged up, but if you keep at it, it changes it’s mind. Oh, and I got Olaf with his head blown off MANY times. Don’t Give up!!!
Kate says
It was an extremely frustrating situation this morning. Waking up at 3:30 west coast time to spend 3 and a half hours staring at three screens of castle was no fun. Thank goodness that I got every park we wanted. My question is will Disney reimburse us for the hopper part of our ticket? What do we do if hopper doesn’t come back this year?
