It’s been quite the past few weeks as we’ve headed back to Disney World to check out all the Character Cavalcades, reopened restaurants in the parks, and what the crowds have looked like during the reopenings!
The Disney Parks have also reopened with new health and safety guidelines. Along with temperature checks and distancing measures, Disney World is also putting mask requirements in place for guests and Cast Members.
Often times, new procedures are modified or changed. Disney has recently added the rule that guests have to be stationary and physically distanced to eat or drink. While everyone has been able to snack on a Mickey Bar or sip on a soda walking around the park before, they’ll need to stop somewhere away from people or sit down currently.
Although the new face covering rule has only gone into place recently, EPCOT already had signs around the park with the latest update to the guidelines.
When we were dining at a restaurant in EPCOT today and asked for a water to-go, a Cast Member gladly gave us a water cup but let us know that guests needed to stop in order to drink.
Although we’ve only seen the signs in EPCOT, we can probably expect to see these signs start to pop up around the rest of the parks. As we go back to other spots around Disney World, we’ll keep you updated with more details on changes to health and safety regulations!
Read more about the updated face covering requirement here.

Previous, I read that visitors to Disney Springs were abusing the loophole and walking around with a drink for hours to avoid wearing masks. This abuse lead to Disney’s rule of us having to be stationary to eat or drink. Pre-Corona virus, we often had to finish a drink or a snack on our way to an attraction. Many times we had to keep it moving and rushing about for fast passes and show times. No more fast passes, parades or shows. We all can admit that our next Disney vacation is going to be different. I pray for a cure for this terrible virus. Maybe someday, Disney can truly bring the magic back.
It’s so hard to breathe in a facemask when worn for prolonged periods of time. I can’t imagine what it must be like to be walking around in the Florida sun all day in a mask. Keep safe and drink plenty of water.
We are DVC and AP members, but don’t know for how long. Our family was at Disneyworld last week, having to wear the masks all day long and in intense heat did not make it a pleasant experience. Cast members were very welcoming, but do not think we will be back to Disney in the future. I know the attorneys, and Disney officials do not want a shut down, so massive rules exist. We all decided, kids included and 4 adults, Disney has lost its luster. Also, poor Walt would be so unhappy to see what his vision has turned to.
Unless Disney is giving discounts to go there, I cannot see why anyone would shell out the same amount of money for an expensive trip just to abide by guidelines that will make the trip absolutely miserable. And in the heat nonetheless! No thank you.
AJ, have the requirements for the mask been changed to require double ply cloth because most surgical masks are not that way?? Thanks.
Steve, nothing in the description of required face coverings specifies layers or particular cloth.
Disney says two layers for the masks.
