There have been oodles of holiday treats rolling into Disney World recently, especially in the food-lover’s paradise of Disney Springs!
We’ve seen tons of sweets: yule logs, crème brûlées, and dome cakes included. But where should you go if you want a savory holiday snack? The Daily Poutine of course! They’ve brought back their Thanksgiving dish, the turkey poutine and we’re giving it a try today. We’ve had it in the past, but will it be as good as we remember? Let’s find out!
We’re actually giving TWO special items a try over at The Daily Poutine today — the Gobbler Poutine and the Canadian Apple Slushy!Â
The “Gobbler Poutine” features delicious fries topped with turkey with brown gravy, cranberry chutney, and cheese curds! It’s basically like serving up a Thanksgiving meal on a bed of French fries. Why can’t all Thanksgiving meals be served this way?!
The cranberry sauce adds a nice tangy and sweet flavor! At least in our book, cranberry sauce + fries + cheese curds = perfection! We really felt that the flavors blended well together and balanced each other out. It was a warm and delicious take on Thanksgiving and totally filling. You could even share this with some friends as a fun snack (although you may not want to share)!
If you HATE the flavors of a traditional Thanksgiving meal, then you’ll want to skip this. Otherwise, we think this is an awesome treat! You can grab it at The Daily Poutine right now for $9.99.
But, we can’t forget that Canadian Apple Slushy! We heard about this drink in September, but finally got the chance to taste it today. The drink features Crown Royal Regal Apple Whisky with Minute Maid Premium Lemonade, Caramel, and Apple, topped with Whipped Cream and a Caramel Drizzle. You can get this slushy for $14.
When we visited today, we had to wait about 30 minutes after The Daily Poutine opened to actually get our drink in order for it to be mixed properly in the slushy mixer. That’s not necessarily a make-or-break issue, but if you’re in a hurry or just not willing to wait, it’s something to keep in mind.
Once we got our drink we found that it was a very sweet treat! It had a yummy apple and caramel flavor, but also a bit of tartness from the lemonade. Overall, it was pretty sweet, but good! If you don’t really like the taste of alcohol, this is a good option for you! We could barely taste the alcohol in this drink at all.
If you’re looking for a really strong alcohol flavor though, or you’re not a fan of sweet drinks, this is probably a skip for you!
