Florida just recently passed 1 million total positive COVID-19 cases, and it seems that infection rates are on the rise.

According to an article on WFTV 9, Orange County officials are concerned after seeing a rise in COVID-19 case numbers in the last week. Florida health officials reported 11,355 new cases, which marks the highest number the state has seen since July. 642 of those cases are from residents of Orange County, home to Orlando.

Hospitalizations have been rapidly rising, and health officers are pointing to the Thanksgiving holiday as the cause.

Orange County’s health officer, Dr. Raul Pino, says that he expects to see an increase in deaths as more people end up in the ICU. He encourages people to stay home and not gather with their extended families for Christmas.

We were just in Florida and felt very safe at Disney though it was more crowded than we expected. But we were staying with my SIL and BIL in The Villages and were surprised at the number of older, high-risk people hanging out at the bars in large groups with no masks. Crazy!
We just returned from our Disney World vacation with stays at Pop Century, Animal Kingdom Kidani Village, and Polynesian. We visited all four parks, Disney Springs, and three other resorts while there. We felt safer in Disney World than we have since returning to northeastern Indiana.
